MARK 16 12-18

 a paraphrased ‘enter the story’

 πŸƒπŸ•Š️reading & study πŸ•Š️πŸƒ

     06/09 - GospeL Verses

[Secretary/Scribe Mark’s version, his gospel/good news account of the advent is thought to be the earliest of the four; gathered by interview. All witness accounts differ in some details.] 12 - After these things he appeared in another way to two of them, as they were walking into the country. 13 And when they went back and told the rest, they didn’t believe them.

     14 But a little later he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he asked them about their unbelief and hardness of heart, why they hadn’t believed those who saw him after he had risen. 15 Then he told them to “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to all. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever doesn’t believe will be judged as guilty.” {As we all were.} 17 “And these signs will accompany those who believe - in my name they will cast out demons. They will speak with new tongues.” {Because their hearts are new? But beware the forked tongue of the adversary, which is of course division.. any ‘us and them’ attitude will do?} 18 “They will take to hand and remove serpents. And if they drink any deadly poison, it will noT harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will be well.” {Especially during long second advent, surely(?) a full scope version of his so brief first one. With “crowns of Life” ‘reigning’ during the “last great day”..}

Today’s GospeL Verses ~ Mark 12:28-34

28 - And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing about resurrection with one another, and hearing how Jesus had answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the most important one?” 29 And Jesus answered him, “The most important one is, ‘Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God is one.” (Very important in the ancient time of plural gods, the time of “the gods”. That God was not one of the plural ‘gods’.) 30 “And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul [psyche], with all your mind, and with all your strength.’” (With all our very being.) 31 “The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” 32 And the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher. You have truly said that he is one, and there is no other besides him. 33 And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” (Those too to appease the human conscience. We know we’re flawed. When we mess up we know it. And we will, unless a psychopath, sabotage and punish ourselves, perhaps sneakily like a monster coming out from hiding under the bed.) 34 And when Jesus saw that the scribe answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” After that no one dared to ask him any more questions.

                ~ Galatians 5:22-26 ~

22 - The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law (needed). 24 For those who belong to Jesus have crucified the flesh with its sufferings and inordinate desires. (From inordinate desires/“missing the mark” - hamartia, translated sin, which sort of misses the mark?)

     25 If we live by the Spirit, let us daily walk in the Spirit. 26 Not becoming conceited and boastful, provoking one another, envying one another. {Considering oneself as superior.. condescension, division, rudeness is in no way a fruit of God’s Spirit/Presence (with us)..}

Humanity and creation will be sealed with God’s Spirit/Presence. This is logic, for is anything else possible? For surely(?) God is Life.
