     04/17 - GospeL Verses

1 - And again Jesus spoke to them using a parable, 2 “The kingdom of heaven can be compared to a king who gave a great WEDDING banquet for his Son. 3 He sent his servants to call those who had been invited to the feast, but they wouldn’t come. 4 Again he sent other messengers, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I’ve prepared my dinner, the table is overflowing, everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast!’” 5 But they paid no mind and went off to their own concerns, one to his farm, another to his business {or politics}, 6 while still others seized his messengers, treated them shamefully, and killed them. {Thinking they did God a service?} 7 The king became angry, and sent his troops to destroy those murderers and to burn their city. {70 CE, ‘smaller’ scope, city; full scope at the culmination of history, empire.} 8 Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy. 9 Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find!’ 10 And those servants went out into the roads, paths and byways and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests!”

     {“There are none good” ..“only One is good” He “is Perfect” “He alone is immortal..” Ro.3:10, Mk.10:18, Mt.5:48, 1Tim.6:16. The opposite/straying/imperfect is this slow gehenna crucible, entropy “which does not quit” an unavoidable, all important contrast. “Come to the Feast” the Banquet of God’s Presence/Spirit, for surely(?) God iS Life.}

Today’s GospeL Verses ~ Luke 14:15-24

15 - When one of those reclining at table with Jesus heard his parable of the wedding banquet/reception, he said to him, “Blessed is everyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God!”16 And he said to him, “Yes! A man once gave a great banquet and invited many. 17 And at the time for the banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come. For everything is now ready!’ 18 But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have bought a field, and I must go and see it.’ 19 And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I must go and examine them. Please have me excused.’ 20 And another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’

     21 So the servant came and reported this to his mister. Then the master of the house became angry and said, ‘Go out quickly to the streets, lanes and alleys of the city, and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’

     22 And the servant came back and said, ‘Sir, what you commanded (instructed) has been done, and still there is room!’ 23 And the mister said to the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my banquet may be filled. 24 For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste of this banquet.’” (Mt.25:1-13! Where does the door of Mt.25:13 reaLLy go?)

                ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:15-28 ~

15 - In conclusion, see that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another, and to everyone. 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances. For these are the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 19 Don’t quench/deny the Spirit(/Presence of God). 20 Don’t despise prophecy. 21 But test everything. Hold fast to what is good. 22 And abstain from every form of evil.

     23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and complete your spirit and soul/psyche and body blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful. He will surely do it.

25 Brothers and sisters, pray for us.

26 Greet all with a holy kiss.

27 I put you under oath before the Lord to have this letter read to all.

28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
