10-08 - Gal 3 8-15 Mark 11 11-19

8TH ‘DAY’ CU Journal, New Testament In A Year

Verses paraphrased due to ©‘s [ref] {thots}

            ☀️ A.M. Galatians 3:8-15

8 - The Scriptures long ago told how God would accept the nations because of their faith. This is why God told Abraham - the good news - that in him, all nations would be blessed. 9 So then, those who are of faith are blessed with, and like, Abraham. He is called the man of faith.

     10 The thing is, anyone relying on fulfilling of the law, to be accepted, are under a curse! For it’s written, “Cursed is everyone who doesn’t abide by, and do - all - that’s written in the Book of the Law.”

    11 It’s proven, no one is justified - before God - by the law. For it’s written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” 12 And the law is not of faith, rather it’s a way, as it’s written, that “The one who does the law, shall live by all the law.” {Ultimately? The law is Perfection? An iron rod (measuring rod). It’s inescapable.. God iS Life. And he is perfect! 1Jn.5:20 and Mt.5:48. So imperfect is..? A curse, entropy to death - Eccles.9:5,10.}

     13 And Christ rescued us from that curse {and the captivity imperfection is} by becoming a curse for us. As it’s written, “Cursed is everyone who is executed on a tree” — 14 and in this way, the blessing of Abraham in Jesus Christ comes to the nations, so the promise of the Spirit is received through believing/faith [pistis: faith, belief, trust, confidence, fidelity, pledge, from peithΓ΄ - be persuaded, come to trust – properly, persuasion].

    15 What I’m writing is - even with a man-made covenant/contract, no one annuls it, or adds to it, once it’s been ratified. [What he’s saying is “faith” preceded The Law. Abraham was before Moses. James 2:23, Gen.15:6. We are rescued, aNd receive the Spirit through faith/believing. Trusting.]

            πŸŒ™ P.M. MARK 11:11-19

11 - And so Jesus entered Jerusalem and he went into the temple. And when he had looked around at everything, as it was already late, he went back to Bethany with the twelve.

     12 On the following morning, as they were coming from Bethany, he was hungry. 13 And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find any fruit on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it wasn’t yet the season for figs. 14 And he said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it. {For a living parable?}

     15 When they came to Jerusalem, he entered the temple and began to drive out those who were buying and selling in the temple courts. He turned over the tables of the money-changers along with the seats of those selling pigeons. 16 And he wouldn’t allow anyone to carry anything through the temple. 17 And when he was teaching, he said, “Is it not written? ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you’ve made it into a den of thieves.” 18 And the chief priests and the scribes heard it (the leaders) and they were seeking a way to destroy him, for they feared him {political not religious/devout} because all the crowd was listening to his teaching.

     19 And when evening came, they went back out of the city.

09-29 - 2 Thes 3 6-18 Lk 15 21-32

Verses paraphrased due to ©‘s [ref] {thots}

(An 8TH ‘DAY’ CU Studies Journal)

            ☀️ A.M. 2 Thessalonians 3:6-18

6 - Now we tell you, in the name of our Lord Jesus, to keep distance from a believer who is idle and disruptive and doesn’t live according to the teaching you received from us.

     7 For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, that we were not idle when we were with you. 8 Not eating someone else’s bread without earning it. But we worked every day, that we might not be a burden to anyone. 9 It wasn’t because we don’t have that right, but to give you an example to follow. 10 For even when we were with you, we would give you this instruction - If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. {The early believers had communal meals.} 11 For we hear that some among you are walking in idleness, and with all that free time, acting as busy bodies. 12 Now such persons we boldly yet sincerely ask and encourage in the Lord Jesus, to work quietly and to earn their own living.

    13 As for you, brethren, don’t grow weary in doing good! 14 If there’s someone who doesn’t carry through with what we say in this letter, take note of that one, and avoid them. 15 Don’t regard them as an enemy! But warn them as a fellow believer in the family of God.

    16 Now may the Lord of peace give you peace! At all times, and in every way. And the Lord be with you all.

     17 And I, Paul, sign this letter with my own hand, the sign of genuineness in all my letters. 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you all. Paul.

            πŸŒ™ P.M. LUKE 15:21-32

(Jesus continues “the parable of the prodigal son”, note: a joyful father, not at all angry.) 21 - “And the son,” {who had gone away and wasted his inheritance on riotous living} “said to his father, ‘Father, I’ve sinned against heaven and you. I’m no longer worthy to be called your son.’ 22 But the father, called his workers and said, ‘Bring the best robe! And put it on him! And put a ring on his finger! And shoes for his feet! 23 And get ready the fatted calf and let us eat and celebrate! 24 For my son was dead! But now he’s alive! He was lost, and now he’s found!’ And they began to celebrate and make merry.

     25 Now his older son was in the field, and as he came near to the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 And he called one of the hired servants and asked what was going on. 27 And he answered, ‘Your brother has come home, and your father has killed the fatted calf, because he has received him back alive and well.’

     28 And now the older son was aggrieved and angry. So he refused to go in, and his father, learning of it, came out and tried to talk to him. 29 But he said, ‘Father, I’ve worked and served you these many years. And I’ve not run off and left the work for others! Yet you never even gave me a young goat, that I might celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours comes, who has squandered your property with prostitutes, you killed the fatted calf for him!’ 31 And the father said to him, ‘But son, you’re always with me. And all which I have is yours. We should be happy and celebrate! I feared your brother was dead! And now, here he is alive! He was lost. And now he is found."

09-16 - James 5 9-20 Luke 12 13-21

Verses paraphrased due to ©‘s [ref] {thots}

(An 8TH ‘DAY’ CU Studies Journal)

            ☀️ A.M. James 5:9-20

9 - Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, so you may not be judged. For behold! The Judge is {ever} standing at the door. {Reaping as we sow, getting back what it is we put out, is ever ready.}

     10 As an example of patience think of the prophets who spoke in the name of the LORD. 11 We consider as blessed, those who steadfastly endured. You’ve heard of the patience of Job.

     And you’ve seen the purpose of the LORD, how the LORD is compassionate and merciful.

     12 But above all/before all, my brethren, don’t take an oath, either by heaven or by earth or by anything else, just let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so you may not fall under condemnation.

     13 Is anyone among you suffering hardship? They should pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let them sing praises. 14 Is any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church [ekklΓ©sia - from ek - out, and kaleo - called, calling] who will come and pray, and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord {Jesus/Y’shua}. 15 For the prayer of faith, will save the one who’s sick, and the LORD will raise them up. {Death is the prognosis of imperfect/entropy, because God is Life and “is perfect” mt.5:48..} And if they have done any wrongs, there will be forgiveness. 16 Therefore, confess your sins {wrongs, flaws} to one another {be honest and real, not hypocritical - which word means “wearing a mask”}. And pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it wouldn’t rain, and for three years and six months it didn’t rain, (a 3.5). 18 Then he prayed again, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth bore fruit.

     19 My brothers and sisters, if anyone among you errs from the truth and someone brings them back, 20 know that whoever brings one back from their wandering, will save their souL from-death, and covers [kaluptΓ³ - covers, hides, veils, conceals (keeps private?)] a multitude of sins.

     {We confess our errors and flaws, but not another’s? ..James’ last words in this letter, pray for one another’s healing and overlook one another’s flaws..? Friendship between groups, denominations, etc will root out error faster than separation/segregation? Or gulp, accusation?/division.}

            πŸŒ™ P.M. LUKE 12:13-21

13 - Someone in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher! Tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me!” 14 But Jesus said, “Who made me the judge or executor between you?” 15 And to the crowd, he said, “Be careful and on your guard against covetousness and envy. Life doesn’t consist in the abundance of possessions.”

     16 So he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced a great harvest, 17 and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? For I haven’t room to store my crops.’ 18 So he said to himself, ‘I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones! And so I shall store all my grain and goods.

     19 And I’ll say to myself, ‘Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years. Relax, eat, drink, and be merry.’ 20 But then God said to him, ‘Foolish one, this very night your life [psuche - soul, life, self, personhood, inner being] is required of you, and the things you’ve prepared, whose will they be?’ 21 So are all they who lay up treasure for themselves, and are noT rich toward God.”

09-10 - James 3 7-12 Luke 10 29-42

Verses paraphrased due to ©‘s [ref] {thots}

(An 8TH ‘DAY’ CU Studies Journal)

            ☀️ A.M. James 3:7-12

7 - Every kind of beast and bird, reptile and sea creature, can be tamed! And has been tamed. 8 But no one can tame the human tongue! {And today the typing finger?} It’s a restless evil. Full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our Lord and Father. And with it we curse people. People who are made in the likeness of God! 10 From the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brethren/brothers and sisters, this ought not to be! 11 Does a spring of water gush forth both fresh, living water, and salt water as well? 12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh (life giving) waters.

            πŸŒ™ P.M. Luke 10:29-42

29 - But the lawyer/scribe, seeking to justify himself, said to Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?” (As in “love thy neighbor”/fellow person.)

     30 Jesus answered him with a parable, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he was fallen upon by a band of thieves. They robbed him, even of his clothing! They beat him and then they left him for dead at the side of the road.

     31 A little later, by chance, a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. 32 And likewise a Levite (administrative public servant) when he came to the place and saw him, he too passed by on the other side.

     33 But then a (looked down upon by ‘polite’ society) Samaritan, as he journeyed, came by, and when he saw him, he was concerned. 34 So he went to him. And he bound up his wounds, cleansing them with oil and wine. Then he set him upon his own animal and brought him to an inn. And there he further cared and provided for him. 35 Then the next day before continuing on his way, he gave the innkeeper two denarii, saying, ‘Take care of him, and if you spend more, I will repay you when I come back.’

     36 Which of these three, do you think, was a neighbor to the man who fell among thieves?”

     37 The scribe said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said, “Go and do likewise.”

     38 Now as they walked on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. 39 She had a sister Mary, who was sitting at the Lord's feet listening to his teaching. 40 But Martha was busy with much serving. And she came to Jesus and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving? Tell her to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary. And Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be denied her.”

07-31 - From Heb-12 Mk-4

8Th ‘Day’ Study, verses R paraphrased [ref] {thots}

Hebrews 12:25-27  Mark 4:13-23

            ☀️ A.M. Hebrews 12:25-27

25 - So take heed lest you refuse to listen to the One who is speaking. For if the people of Israel didn’t escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven!

      26 When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth! And now he has promised, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” {“Like figs blown by a strong wind”? Rev.6:13.}

     27 This - “Yet once more,” shows that all that can be shaken, will be shaken, and removed. Things having been made, if able to be shaken, will be shaken, so that what cannot be shaken (truth) will remain.

            πŸŒ™ P.M. Mark 4:13-23

Jesus said to his disciples and followers, “Do you not understand this parable?” [Of the sower.] “How then will you understand any of the parables?

     14 The sower sows the message [logos] of God.” [Logos - reasoning expressed in words, (the) message, God’s reasoning, boTh personified and written.]

     15 “And the seed along the path that gets eaten up by the birds, is about those who when they hear, Satan comes and takes away the message that was sown. 16 And the seed sown on rocky ground, are those who hear it and receive it with joy, 17 but they lack root in their selves, and endure only for a while, and when persecution or troubles and struggles arise because of the message, they fall away.

     18 And the seed sown among thorns are those who hear the word, 19 but the cares of the world, the allure of the deceitfulness of riches, and desires for other things choke the message, and it proves to be unfruitful.

     20 But the seed sown on good soil, are the ones who hear the message (the logos) and receive it and bear fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixtyfold or even a hundredfold.”

     21 And he said, “Is a lamp brought in to be put under a basket? Under a bed? Or on a lampstand? 22 Nothing is hidden except to be made known. Nor is anything secret, except in order to come to light. 23 Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear!”

07-27 - From Heb-12 Lk-8

8Th ‘Day’ Study, verses R paraphrased [ref] {thots}

Hebrews 12:1-2  Luke 8:1-8

            ☀️ A.M. Hebrews 12:1-2

1 - Therefore, having a cloud of witnesses encompassing us {“literally or figuratively” ..I think referring to GWT ‘day’ of judgment/history-review/discernment - since the previous verse (11:40) refers to a ‘crowd’ “not perfected without us” referring of course, to Jesus’ return when followers “put on perfection” which is the beginning of his two millennium long second advent, Rev.20} let us therefor throw off everything that hinders! And the sin [missing the mark, greek word hamartia] that so easily entangles.

     Let us run with patience and steadfastness, the race that is marked out for us, 2 keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer, and the perfecter of our faith. He, for the joy set before him, endured the cross, scorning its shame. And then he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

            πŸŒ™ P.M. Luke 8:1-8

1 - Jesus was traveling from town to town and from village to village proclaiming the - good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, 2 and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, including Mary who was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out. (This gospel, written by Luke the doctor.) 3 Also there was Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s household, Susanna, and many others. These women helped to support Jesus and his disciples out of their own household.

     4 When a large crowd had gathered - for people were coming out to Jesus, from the towns and villages - he told them a parable.

     5 “A farmer went out sowing his seed. And as he was scattering the seed, some of it fell along the path and it was trampled on, and the birds came and ate it up.

     6 Some fell on dry rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered away because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorn bushes and grew up for a while among them, but were choked off by the thorn bushes.

     8 But still other seed fell upon good soil, and it came up, grew, and yielded a crop. A hundred times more than was planted.” And when he had said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.” 🌽
