05/07 ~ From New Testament Letters
(In the Order Believed Written)
1 - From Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,
To believers (called elect) who are spread out from the dispersion. Believers in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 2 may grace and peace be multiplied to you, according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in all sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood {and life}. 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope [elpis - hope, expectation, trust] through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead {we - Peter, etc. having seen and spent time with the resurrected Jesus, were fully renewed of soul and now were living in expectation/trust.. not merely hope, as good as hope is.} 4 Expectation of an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, incorruptible and unfading - stored in heaven for you - who 5 by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last [eschatos - last, final, utmost, extreme, final] time. 6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes though it’s tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
