04-30 - 1Tim-6 Mt-24

N.Testament & Prophecy Advanced CU Study, verses paraphrased  [ ] references { } thots

 • 1 Timothy 6:9-21  Matthew 24:36-44 and ACTS 22:1-21 separately

            ☀️ 1 Timothy 6:9-21

9 - Believers who want to be rich fall into a snare. And into many senseless and harmful temptations that plunge them into ruin and destruction. 10 For - the love of - money is a root of all kinds of evils. It’s through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains and sufferings.

     11 But as for you {Timothy} oh man of God! Flee those things. Instead pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. 12 And so fight the good fight of the faith. {Overcome.} Take firm hold of the eternal life to which you were called. And about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. {Actually “aionion” Life. God iS Life. There is no life beyond the moment.}

     13 I charge you before God - who gives life to all, and Christ Jesus, the one who testified the good profession before Pontius Pilate - to 14 keep the commandment [entolé - commandment, order, instruction] unstained, not corrupted, and free from reproach until the appearing [epiphaneia - appearing, manifestation, glorious display] of our Lord Jesus Christ.

     15 Which, in that season, will be made known the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen, nor can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.

     17 As for those believers who are rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but upon God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. 18 They are to do good. To be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truLy life.

     20 Yes Timothy, guard the deposit [parathéké - deposit, trust, commitment] entrusted to you. Avoid irreverent babble, and the contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge” [gnosis] 21 for by professing it, some have swerved from the faith. Grace be with you all.

            🌙 Matthew 24:36-44

36 - (Jesus continues.) “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven or the Son. Only the Father knows. 37 And as the days of Noah were, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.” [Coming is “parousia” - “coming, presence, arrival, literally means - the being beside, personal presence, from parōn - be present, arrive to enter into a situation, properly - coming, especially the arrival of the owner who alone can deal with a situation, visit of a king or other official, a royal visit, presence of one coming hence - coming, arrival, advent”.]

     38 “For as in those days, before the flood {came}, the people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark. 39 And they were unaware, until the flood came, and swept them all away. So will the coming [parousia/presence?] of the Son of Man be. 40 Two will be in the field, one will be taken, the other left. 41 Two will be grinding at the mill, one will be taken and the other left.”

     42 “So stay awake! For you don’t know at what hour your Lord is coming” [erchomai - walk, to go, to come; movement from one place to another; can denote both the act of coming and the state of having arrived]. [Zechariah 14:4.]

     43 “But know this - if the master of a house, knew in what part of the night the thief is coming {the flood?} he would stay awake and not let his house be broken into.” {Don’t let the world’s armageddon enter us? Or its flood will wash us away?} 44 Therefore you must be ready, for you are not aware of what hour the Son of Man comes.” [Aware - dokeó - to think, seem, suppose, be of the opinion].
