☀️ Ephesians 5:17-27
17 - Therefore don’t be senseless, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 Don’t get drunk with wine, in which is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit! 19 Talking with one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. Be happy! Sing songs and make melody to the Lord!
20 Always give thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name [onoma - authority, character, cause, name] of our Lord Jesus Christ. 21 Submit yourselves to one another in reverence of him. [Submit is hypotássō which is from hypó - under, and tássō - arrange.] {What works best? All considering self as under.. or all considering selves as over? It does like all things, include Logic, root word of which is Logos. In the Light of God’s radiance, aLL will thoroughly judge their self. And self, the human psyche, can be very harsh indeed.. to beating self up with many stripes.. until Christ Crucified, strong enough to appease every conscience, is realized.. Imagine having been a cruel and heartless despot, oppressing, torturing, raping and killing many.. or having been a sex trafficker of children.. Can we imagine ultimately the heart and gut wRenching remorse?! Imperfection is an abyss of potential. And entropy.. the worm in our ‘apple’ that “does not quit”.}
22 Wives to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife like Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in all things to their husbands. {Hypotasso, peaceful arrangement.}
25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself for ‘her’, 26 that he might sanctify ‘her’ the church/the people, having cleansed them by the washing of the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing. {Radiant.} That the church/people might be holy, and without blemish. {It’s not by effort, lol, as if! But is God’s work in us, Heb.11:40! We have one rule, love God. If we genuinely do, we wiLL love and have genuine affection for our fellow person. And not just those like myself.}
🌙 Matthew 20:17-28
17 - As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and said, 18 “Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the leaders, the chief priests and scribes, and they’ll condemn him to death. 19 They’ll deliver him over to the Gentiles/nations (via Rome) to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.”
20 Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee [John and James] came up to him with her sons, and kneeling before him she asked him a favor. 21 He asked her, “What do you seek?” She said to him, “Tell me these two sons of mine will sit, one at your right hand, and one at your left, in your kingdom.” 22 Jesus answered, “You don’t know what you’re asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I’m to drink?” They said to him, “We’re able.” 23 He said, “You will drink my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to give, but it’s for those for whom it’s been prepared by my Father.”
24 And when the other ten disciples heard of it, they were indignant at the other two. 25 But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the nations lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 26 It’s not so among you. For whoever would be great among you must be as a servant. 27 And whoever would be first among you, must be as a slave. 28 Even as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many [polus - multitude].” [1Tim.2:6 - who gave himself as a ransom for all (pas) which has been revealed at the proper time. 1Cor.15:22-24,28 w/ Mt.13:33, key word three, barley, wheat, grape. 27,28 is five times “pas”. Mt.13:30 is Rev.16:14-15-16 and Mt.25:1-13(10).]
