04-07 - Phil-1 Lk-18

N.Testament & Prophecy Advanced CU Study, verses paraphrased  [ ] references { } thots

 • Philippians 1:1-8  Luke 18:1-8

            ☀️ Philippians 1:1-8

1 - Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus,

To all the saints in Jesus, who are at Philippi, with the overseers [episkopos - from epi - over, and skopos - watcher or guardian] and deacons [diรกkonos - from diรก - thoroughly, and konis - dust, properly, “thoroughly raise up dust(!) by moving quickly about”]

     2 Grace to you! And peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

     3 I thank my God in all my remembering of you! 4 Always in every prayer I pray for you, It is with joy. 5 This is because of our partnership in the gospel from the first day we met until now. 6 And I’m sure of this, that he who has begun a good work in you {us} will bring it to completion, at the day of Jesus Christ. [Hebrews11:40.]

     7 It is right for me to feel this way about you, because you’re in my heart, for you’re all partakers with me of this grace, both in my imprisonment and in this work of the defense and confirming of the gospel. 8 For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. {But if Paul had not been in jail, would we have these letters of his?}

            ๐ŸŒ™ Luke 18:1-8

1 - Jesus told a parable to the effect that we ought always to pray and not lose heart, 2 “In a certain city” he said, “there was a judge who neither feared God nor man. 3 And in that same city was a widow who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary!’

     4 For a while he refused, but after a while, he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor man, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I’ll give her justice, so she’ll quit bothering me!’

     6 Do you hear what the unrighteous judge says? 7 Will God not give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he forever delay?” {Yet had he intervened and quit letting things run course, say in 1900, where would you and I be? ..Letting things run course because an ant farm is no paradise. Besides truth and reality is all that shall remain standing, and being 100% unfettered Genius, he is “savior of all” 1Tim.4:10. So he has mothing to lose. And just - how - do you create genuinely able to think and reason beings, aNd, keep paradise/perfection intact? The dis-ease as part of the cure? Total Ant Farm versus Total ‘Herd’ Immunity?}

     8 “I tell you, he will give justice to them quickly” [tachu, same word transleted in Rev.22:7 as soon - behold I come quickly, to behold I am coming soon. To be fair both interpretations are possible. Makes us rely on the Spirit to guide?}

     “Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith upon earth?” {Isaiah 24:20/Rev.10:4. Mt.13:30 as Rev.16:14-15-16 and, oR Mt.25:1-13 to serving called reigning during long 2nd advent, full scope version of his 1st so brief one?}

04-02 - Eph-5 Mt-20

N.Testament & Prophecy Advanced CU Study, verses paraphrased  [ ] references { } thots

 • Ephesians 5:17-27  Matthew 20:17-28 and ACTS 20:1-16 separately

            ☀️ Ephesians 5:17-27

17 -  Therefore don’t be senseless, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 Don’t get drunk with wine, in which is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit! 19 Talking with one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. Be happy! Sing songs and make melody to the Lord!

     20 Always give thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name [onoma - authority, character, cause, name] of our Lord Jesus Christ. 21 Submit yourselves to one another in reverence of him. [Submit is hypotรกssล which is from hypรณ - under, and tรกssล - arrange.] {What works best? All considering self as under.. or all considering selves as over? It does like all things, include Logic, root word of which is Logos. In the Light of God’s radiance, aLL will thoroughly judge their self. And self, the human psyche, can be very harsh indeed.. to beating self up with many stripes.. until Christ Crucified, strong enough to appease every conscience, is realized.. Imagine having been a cruel and heartless despot, oppressing, torturing, raping and killing many.. or having been a sex trafficker of children.. Can we imagine ultimately the heart and gut wRenching remorse?! Imperfection is an abyss of potential. And entropy.. the worm in our ‘apple’ that “does not quit”.}

     22 Wives to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife like Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in all things to their husbands. {Hypotasso, peaceful arrangement.}

     25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself for ‘her’, 26 that he might sanctify ‘her’ the church/the people, having cleansed them by the washing of the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing. {Radiant.} That the church/people might be holy, and without blemish. {It’s not by effort, lol, as if! But is God’s work in us, Heb.11:40! We have one rule, love God. If we genuinely do, we wiLL love and have genuine affection for our fellow person. And not just those like myself.}

            ๐ŸŒ™ Matthew 20:17-28

17 - As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and said, 18 “Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the leaders, the chief priests and scribes, and they’ll condemn him to death. 19 They’ll deliver him over to the Gentiles/nations (via Rome) to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.”

     20 Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee [John and James] came up to him with her sons, and kneeling before him she asked him a favor. 21 He asked her, “What do you seek?” She said to him, “Tell me these two sons of mine will sit, one at your right hand, and one at your left, in your kingdom.” 22 Jesus answered, “You don’t know what you’re asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I’m to drink?” They said to him, “We’re able.” 23 He said, “You will drink my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to give, but it’s for those for whom it’s been prepared by my Father.”

     24 And when the other ten disciples heard of it, they were indignant at the other two. 25 But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the nations lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 26 It’s not so among you. For whoever would be great among you must be as a servant. 27 And whoever would be first among you, must be as a slave. 28 Even as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many [polus - multitude].” [1Tim.2:6 - who gave himself as a ransom for all (pas) which has been revealed at the proper time. 1Cor.15:22-24,28 w/ Mt.13:33, key word three, barley, wheat, grape. 27,28 is five times “pas”. Mt.13:30 is Rev.16:14-15-16 and Mt.25:1-13(10).]

03-03 - Ro-15 Mt-17

N.Testament & Prophecy Advanced CU Study, verses paraphrased [ ] references { } thots

 • Romans 15:14-21  Matthew 17:1-13

            ☀️ Romans 15:14-21

14 - I myself (Paul) am satisfied about you, my brethren, that you yourselves are full of goodness and knowledge, so you’re able to instruct one another. 15 But on some points I have written to you very boldly by way of reminder, because of the grace given to me by God, 16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the nations in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering of the Gentiles (nations) may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit {Presence of God with}.

     17 In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to be proud of my work for God. 18 For I’m determined to speak of nothing but what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the nations to obedience [hupakoรฉ - attentive hearing and hearkening, from akoรบล - to hear, and hypรณ - beneath, so the literal - submission to what is heard, compliance] in word and deed. 19 And by the power of the Spirit of God, by the power of signs and wonders, so that from Jerusalem and all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the gospel of Christ.

     20 And so I make it my ambition to proclaim the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, the foundation already laid, 21 but as it’s written, “Those who have never been told of him will see. And those who have never heard will understand.” {Prophecy telescopes.. root word of telescope is greek tel, translated as “end” but more closely means “end-aim”. Prophecy telescopes from smaller scope to full scope at the “end-aim”. Like gospel to Israel scope.. to nations, wider scope.. ..and on GWT Judgment/discernment/review/closure for all ‘Day’..wider/full scope.}

            ๐ŸŒ™ Matthew 17:1-13

1 - Six days later {after six millennial days, imperfection/being strayed/this unavoidable contrast, will have run its course!} (Six days later) Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain with himself alone [Mt.16:27, 24:31, 25:1-13, Zech.14:4]. 2 And he was transfigured before them, his face was shining as radiant as the sun, and his clothes became white like pure radiant light. 3 And look! There with them was Moses and Elijah, talking with him. {I think from a dimension called the future. Because Jesus said “no one has ascended into heaven” Jn.3:13.}

     4 And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord! It’s good we’re here! Look! I’ll make three tents! One for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah!” {Tabernacles.. “Behold! I make all new, God will now tabernacle/tent with mankind” Rev.21:5,3. Tabernacle, tent, triangle, three tents, three present.. triangle, Father, Son onLy straight out from God one, so close both administer God’s Spirit/Presence, same as will saturate and “seal” creation and humanity - When aLL is said and done, after the “8th day”/millennium - “God will now tabernacle/tent/dwell with mankind”. See Rev.20, but the chapter’s like describing the crests of waves, and not much of the in between.}

     5 Peter was still speaking when a shining cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen {always} to him.”

     6 When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified! 7 But Jesus came, touched them, and said, “Rise, and have - no - fear.” 8 And when they looked up, they saw only Jesus {the Kingdom}. 9 And as they were coming back down from the mountain, Jesus said, “Don’t tell anyone the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.”

     10 And the disciples asked him, “Why do the scribes say Elijah must come first?” 11 He answered, “Elijah indeed comes, and restores all things. 12 I say however to you that Elijah already is come, and they didn’t know him, but did to him as they pleased. And so also shall the Son of Man suffer at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that he was speaking of John the Baptist. {The Elijah of their day.}

03-02 - Ro-15 Mt-16

N.Testament & Prophecy Advanced CU Study, verses paraphrased [ ] references { } thots

 • Romans 15:8-13  Matthew 16:21-28 and Rev.18:1-8 separately

            ☀️ Romans 15:8-13

8 - For I tell you that Christ became a servant to the circumcised {to the Hebrew nation ..first. - He had called and separated Israel into a new nation, in order to make himself known as separate from ‘the gods’ of the nations which were prevalent}.

      This {hearing the Good News proclaimed first} shows God's faithfulness [alรฉtheia - truth, integrity, faithfulness] and is what was promised to the patriarchs. 9 All this so the nations might glorify God for his mercy [eleos - mercy, kindness, good will toward the afflicted, joined with a desire to relieve]. [“His mercy endures forever” Ps.136.]

     As it’s written, “Therefore I will praise [aineรณ - boast, shine, praise] you among the nations! I will sing to your name” [รณnoma - name, authority, cause].

     10 And again it’s written, “Rejoice [euphrainรณ - rejoice, be glad, make merry] oh nations among his people, Israel” [Deuteronomy 32:43]. 11 And again, “Praise the Lord, all nations! And let all the peoples praise [epaineรณ - praise, applaud] him” [Ps.117:1] {Romans 3:4 - “..let God be true, and every man a liar, as it’s written: "That You  {God} may be justified in Your words, and will prevail in Your being judged."}

     12 And again Isaiah says, “The root of Jesse will come, even he who arises to rule the nations, in him will the nations trust” [Isaiah 11:10].

     13 May the God of hope [elpis - (hope) expectation, trust] fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit{/Presence of God} you may abound in hope [elpis - (hope?) expectation and trust!]

            ๐ŸŒ™ Matthew 16:21-28

21 - From then on Jesus began to let his disciples know he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the leaders - the elders, chief priests and scribes {much more political than spiritual or religious/devoted}. And that he would be killed, but on the third day he would be raised.

     22 Peter took him aside and began to disagree with him, saying, “Far be it Lord! This cannot happen to you!” 23 But Jesus said, “Get behind me satan/opposer, you’re acting as a hindrance and temptation to me. For you’re not seeing as God sees, but as man sees.”

     24 Then Jesus said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let them deny theirself and take up their cross, and come and follow me. 25 For whoever will save their life {as is before Christ} will lose it {the life we think we have} but whoever loses {lets go of} their life for my sake will find it. {God has our highest blueprint!} 26 For what will it profit someone to gain the whole {wide} world and forfeit their soul? [Psuchรฉ, psychฤ“s - life, self, inner being, heart, mind, soul, distinct identity, unique personhood.] Or what shall a person give in return for their soul/personhood? 27 For the Son of Man will be coming, with his angels, in the glory {and radiance} of his Father, and he will repay each one according to what they have done.

     28 Truly, I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.” {Prophecy is often in two scopes, a first more specific, smaller scope, and later global in scope. In this case after 70 CE, Jerusalem’s Armageddon, came what’s called the church age.. Age of the wheat. And at (the modern, total) Armageddon is his full, and in person, coming, after which is “the” millennium, first half of the Lord’s long second advent. See Rev.20, but the chapter is portrayed like describing the crests of waves and not a lot of the in between.}

01-31 - Ro-5 Mt-10

๐Ÿ—️s New Testament & Bible prophecy study, verses paraphrased [ ] references { } thots

 • Romans 5:16-21  Mt. 10:16-26 and ACTS 15:22-41 separately

            ☀️ Romans 5:16-21

16 - And the free gift isn’t like the result of that one man's sin. For the judgment {result} of one trespass brought liability, but the free gift, which followed many trespasses, brought acquittal and pardon.

     17 Because of one man's trespass, death has reigned, through that one trespass. {How God planned it, one and done.} How much more, will those who receive the abundance of grace, and free gift of pardon and righteousness, reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ? {I.e. all die through Adam and because of Adam, how much more shall all live through Jesus and because of Jesus.}

     18 Therefore, as the one trespass led to serious result for all {imperfect/entropy doesn’t reverse course} so also, the one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all. 19 For as by the one man's disobedience “the many” were made sinners {hamartians - missing the mark, imperfect} so by the one man's obedience “the many” will be made righteous. 20 Now the law was given to magnify the trespass, but where trespass abounded, grace abounded — all the more, 21 so that, as sin [hamartia - missing the mark] reigns into and as death, grace reigns in life. Justification/pardon and righteousness leads to enduring life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

            ๐ŸŒ™ Matthew 10:16-26

16 - “Listen” Jesus said, “I’m sending you out like sheep into the midst of wolves. So be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.” {In thought, word and deed. And to be harmless is to be wise?}

     17 “Beware of man. For they will deliver you over to courts and even have you flogged. 18 You’ll be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them and the nations. 19 When they deliver you over, don’t worry about what you will say. For what you will say will be given to you in that hour. 20 Because it’s not you who speaks, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.” {Truth, logos, logic.}

     21 “Brother will betray brother over to death, and a father his child. Children will rise up against parents, and have them put to death. 22 You will be hated. For my name's sake, by all.” {Of the world.} “But the one who endures to the end will be saved [sรณzรณ - to save, heal, preserve, rescue; from a primary word ฯƒฯŽฮฟฯ‚ (sรณos), meaning safe, or sound]. {Isaiah 24:20/Rev.10:4, as Mt.13:30 is Rev.16:14-15-16 and, or Mt.25:1-13 the door into serving called reigning during long 2nd advent, full scope version of his 1st so brief one.}

     23 “If they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly I tell you, you will not have completed the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.” [Daniel 7:13 - In the night visions I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. (“All the world’s a stage” - Shakespeare.) Matthew 27:21,22 - Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven {on that day} but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven..]

     24 “A disciple isn’t above their teacher, nor a servant above their master. 25 It’s enough for the disciple to be like their teacher, and the servant like their master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more those of his household? 26 But have no fear of them. For nothing is covered over, that won’t be revealed, or hidden, that won’t be made known.”

REVELATION - 12 13-17

 N.T. in a year reading & study, verses R paraphrased [  ] references {  } thots

BOOK OF REVELATION

[After the woman, the faith, fled (Jerusalem in 70CE) and time had passed.. and after “war in heaven”] 13 - the dragon, when he saw that he was now limited to Earth, pursued {persecuted, inquisitioned} the woman/the faith, which had given birth to the manchild (Son of man/Christ). 14 But the woman/the faith {now Christianity} was given the two wings of an eagle, that she might fly (sail) to the wilderness to a place of her to be nourished and to grow [in a widest sense] for a time, times and half (a division of) time, safe from the face [prosรณpon - presence, face, advantage] of the serpent [thus dragon, ancient serpent, called the devil and Satan ..deceiver of the whole world” vs.9].

     15 Then (after the 1, plus 2 and ½ divisions of time) the serpent spewed water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, the faith. In order to wash her away with a flood, from off the face of the Earth.

     16 But (in the vision John was seeing) the earth helped the woman. It opens its mouth and swallows the flood, the dragon had poured from his mouth after her. {A spiritual flood, a strong delusion? One declaring man to be most high and “seated in the temple as god”/highest power. ..And widespread drought just before Armageddon/next verse?}

     17 And the dragon was furious with the woman, the faith, and went off to make war upon the rest of her {the faith’s} offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God. And {by then, Mt.23:39} hold to the testimony of Jesus. {“Jerusalem, Jerusalem ..you shall not SEE me again, until you say “Blessed is He who comes in the name if the LORD!” Mt.23:39.}

     And the dragon stood on the sand of the sea. {Chapter 13 begins the third and last telling of the vision, but from a modern geopolitical perspective.}

                         ~*~

Review: Chapter twelve is the second telling of the revelation vision. It is between the other two tellings - 6:1-2 to 11:19, but a trick with the seals keeps the vision veiled. They, the elements of the vision {and age} are described at the very beginning of the vision, as a sort of swirl of their full and entire effects, first to very last. Especially pronounced in the 6th seal and the following 7:1,3 (9,4) where we presently still are.

Next - 13:1-8

11-23 - Mk 14 43-53 or Lk 22 47-54

N.T. in a year reading & study, verses R paraphrased [  ] references {  } thots

๐ŸŒ™ 43 - And then while Jesus was still speaking, Judas came, who was one of the twelve, and with him a crowd with torches, swords and clubs. They came from the leaders, the chief priests, the scribes and elders. 44 Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “He who I greet with a kiss is the one.” 45 And when he came, he went up to him at once and said, “Rabbi!” And kissed him. 46 And so they seized Jesus to lead him away under guard. 47 But one of those who stood by drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. 48 And Jesus said, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me? 49 Day after day I was with you in the temple teaching, and you didn’t arrest me. But the Scripture will be fulfilled.” 50 And the disciples all left him and fled. 51 And a young man had come there, with nothing but a linen cloth about his body. {Likely awoken from somewhere by the light and tumult.} And they tried to seize him, 52 but he left the linen cloth and ran away naked.

     53 And they led Jesus to the high priest. And all the chief priests, the elders and the scribes were gathered there.

     LUKE 22:47 - And while he was still talking, a crowd came, and Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He drew near to Jesus to greet him with a kiss, 48 but Jesus said to him, “Judas, would you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?” 49 And when those who were around him saw what would follow, they said, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?” 50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear. 51 But Jesus said, “No, there is no need for that.” And he touched his ear and healed it.

     52 Then he said to those who had come out against him, “Have you come out now with swords and clubs? 53 When I was with you every day in the temple? And no one laid hands on me. But this is your hour, and the hour of the power of darkness.” {Imperfect is an abyss (of potential). There’s bound to be oppressions, the stronger will rule the not as strong and vulnerable. Just as God prophesied in Eden. It took a long time for some of humanity to crawl out from under kingly POWER. Rome for a time was a republic of city-states, a check on power, by dividing the power(s). God is the only fit ruling force and over-rule.}

     54 Then they led him away, and brought him to the high priest's house, and Peter was following at a distance.

Tomorrows verses - Mark 14:54-72 or Luke 22:55-71

REVELATION - 12 7-12

N.T. in a year reading & study, verses R paraphrased [  ] references {  } thots

BOOK OF REVELATION

     {After the manchild(/Son of man) was taken up to God’s throne where he will rule with the unbreakable measuring rod of Truth, and the faith had fled, migrated} 7 - War arose in heaven, Michael and his angels warred against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels warred against Michael and his angels. 8 But the dragon hadn’t the strength, and no longer was a place for them found in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent (oR “cherubim” from Ezek.28:12-  “Son of man, raise a lamentation over the king of Tyre {god of this world}.. you were in Eden, the garden of God.. an anointed covering cherub [kerub - an order of angelic beings, cherub, cheribim].

     I appointed you on the holy mountain.. You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created, till unrighteousness [evel or avel or avlah or olah - unrighteousness, injustice] was found in you..”

     (Like David is used as a representation of Christ in prophecy, so too are despotic kings used as a representation of Satan the adversary.)

     9 And the great dragon was thrown out, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown to the earth, and his angels were thrown with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come {to the heavens}! For “the accuser” of our brethren has been thrown out {of heaven, not yet Earth} who accused them day and night {right} before our God.

     11 And the brethren overcome him because of the blood of the lamb, and because of [dia - by, because of, for the sake of, by reason of, through] the word of their testimony, and (word for word) (they) not loved the life of them unto death”. {I think may also read? — didn’t love their life that leads to death? Perhaps, in this verse anyway, in Rev.20 is different?๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผ‍♀️} 12 “Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell therein! N.T. IN A YEAR READING & STUDY [ ]REFERENCES { }THOTS, VERSES R PARAPHRASED

๐ŸŒ™ 17 - And when it was evening, he went in with the twelve. 18 And as they were at table, eating, Jesus said, “One of you is going to betray me. One who eats with me.” 19 They began to be sorrowful and to say one after another, “Is it I?” 20 So he said, “It’s one of you twelve, the one who is dipping bread into the dish with me.

     21 For the Son of Man goes as it’s written of him, but woe to the one who betrays him. {Sympathy for Judas.} It would have been better for that man if he had not been born.” {Prophesying how Judas’ life will end.}

     22 Then he took up a loaf of bread, said a blessing, then broke it and passed it out to them, saying “Take and eat. This is my body.”

     23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he passed it to them, and they all drank. 24 And he said, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many” [polรฝs - many, high in number, multitudinous, plenteous, much, great in amount (extent), frequently used in contexts that highlight the vastness of God's kingdom, the multitude of believers, or the extensive reach of Jesus]. 25 “Truly, I tell you, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine, until the day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” [Matthew’s recollection, 26:29 - “I will not drink wine again until the day I drink it new with you in my Father’s Kingdom.” Mt.25:1-13, 1Cor.15:23; Mt.13:30 is Rev.16:13,14(15)16]

MARK 10 35-45

 a paraphrased ‘enter the story

   09/06 - GospeL Verses

35 - James and John, the sons of Zebedee said to Jesus, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” [Zebedee was a fisherman by trade, whom they, and Peter and Andrew worked for. James and John, sons of him, were referred to by Jesus as “sons of thunder”. Mathew, who was a disciple, wrote “the mother of the sons of Zebedee came up to him with her sons and she asked.. Mk.20:20. Mark was a scribe and when a young man, a sort of secretary for Paul and others. His gospel/news account may be the first one written of the four, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.]

     36 Jesus asked them, “What do you want me to do for you?” 37 And they said, “Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, at your glory.” 38 But Jesus answered, “You don’t know what you’re asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I will? Or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am about to be baptized?” 39 And they said, “Yes, we’re able.” And Jesus answered, “The cup I drink you indeed will drink, and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you too will be baptized, 40 but to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give, but is prepared for those prepared for/of it.” 41 And when the ten heard it, they were a little indignant at James and John. 42 But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles/nations, lord it over them, and their ‘great’ ones exercise authority over them. 43 But it shouldn’t be so among you. For whoever would be great among you should be as a servant. 44 And whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

     07/13 - GospeL Verses

1 - Later after he went home to Capernaum, after some days, it was reported that he was there, 2 and many came and were gathered together, so there was no room, not even at the door. And he was preaching the word {the message, “logos - reasoning” God’s reasoning} to them.

     3 And then came four men bringing to him a paralytic. 4 And when they couldn’t get near because of the crowd, they climbed up with the bed, and removed part of the roof above him, and when they had made a big enough opening, they let down the bed with the paralytic.

     5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son! Your sins are forgiven!” 6 Now some of the scribes were sitting there thinking, 7 “Why does this man speak like that? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?!”

     8 But Jesus, perceiving this, said to them, “Why do you question in your hearts? 9 What’s easier? To say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven’? Or to say, ‘Rise, take up your bed and walk’? 10 But so you may know, the Son of Man, has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the paralytic, 11 “I say to you, rise up, take up your bed, and go home.” 12 And the man got up, picked up his bed and went out as they all watched.

     And they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, “We’ve never seen anything like this before!”

JOHN 13 21-38

 a paraphrased ‘enter the story’

 ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ•Š️reading & study ๐Ÿ•Š️๐Ÿƒ

     05/12 - GospeL Verses

21 - Jesus was troubled in his spirit, and said, “Truly, I tell you, one of you is going to betray me.” 22 The disciples looked at one another, not knowing what to think. 23 One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved (this is John, it’s how he sometimes referred to himself) was at the table by Jesus, 24 so Simon Peter motioned to him to ask Jesus who he was speaking about. 25 So that disciple, leaning close to Jesus said, “Lord, who is it?” 26 Jesus answered, “It’s he to whom I will give this piece of bread when I’ve dipped it.” So when he had dipped it, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. 27 Then after Judas had taken the bread, Satan entered into him, and Jesus said to him, “What you’re going to do, do quickly.” 28 Now no one at the table knew why he said this. 29 Some thought because Judas had the moneybag, Jesus was telling him to go buy what they would need for the feast or that he should give something to the poor.

     30 And so it was, that after receiving the piece of bread, Judas left and went out into the night.

     31 And when he had gone, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God glorified in him. 32 For if God is glorified in him also God will glorify him in himself and at once. 33 Little children, it’s only a short while that I’m with you. You’ll seek me, and just as I said to your countrymen, ‘Where I’m going you cannot follow.’ 34 And now a new commandment I give to you, love one another, just as I’ve loved you, you also love one another. 35 And by this all will know you’re my disciples! If you have love (true affection) for one another.” 36 Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus answered, “Where I’m going you cannot follow me now, but you’ll follow me afterward.” 37 Peter said to him, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you!” 38 Jesus answered him, “Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, I tell you Peter,  the rooster will not crow until you have denied me three times.”

MATTHEW 26 1-13

a paraphrased ‘enter the story’

 ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ•Š️reading & study ๐Ÿ•Š️๐Ÿƒ

     05/07 - GospeL Verses

1 - When Jesus had finished teaching all things, he said to his disciples, 2 “You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”

     3 The leaders, the chief priests and elders of the people, gathered together in the palace of Caiaphas the high priest. 4 And they plotted together how to secretly arrest Jesus and have him killed. 5 But they proposed, “Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar among the people.”

     6 Jesus meanwhile was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, 7 and a woman came up to him with an alabaster flask of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he was reclining at table. 8 And when the disciples saw it, they said to one another, “Why this waste? 9 This could have been sold for a large sum and given to the poor.” 10 But Jesus, aware of it, said, “Why do you trouble her? She has done a beautiful thing for me. 11 You have always the poor with you, but you won’t always have me. 12 In pouring this ointment on me, she has done it to prepare me for burial. 13 Truly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in all the world, what she has done will also be told.”

JOHN 12 20-36

 a paraphrased ‘enter the story’

 ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ•Š️reading & study ๐Ÿ•Š️๐Ÿƒ

     05/06 - GospeL Verses

20 - Now, there were among those who went up to worship at the feast, some Greeks (gentiles/not Hebrew) 21 who came to Philip, he being from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” 22 Philip went and told Andrew, and then they went and told Jesus. 23 And Jesus said, “The hour” (marked by gentiles seeking him) “has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 For truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the earth and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it will bear much fruit. 25 Whoever loves their life loses it, and whoever hates [miseรณ - hates, loves less] their life of this world, will keep it for enduring life. 26 If anyone serves me, they will follow me. And where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor them.

     27 “Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But for this purpose I have come to this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, saying, “I have glorified it. And I will glorify it again.”

     29 The crowd that was standing there and heard it said, “It thundered.” Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.” 30 Jesus said, “This voice has come for your sake, not mine. 31 Now is the judgment of this world. Now will the ruler of this world be cast out.” (By this.) 32 “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all to me.” 33 He said this to show by what kind of death he was going to die.

     34 So the crowd answered him, “We have heard from the Law that the Christ remains forever. How can you say the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?” 35 Jesus answered, “The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness come upon you. The one who walks in darkness doesn’t know where they are going. 36 While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become children of light.”

When Jesus had said these things, he left the temple and withdrew himself from the people. (His public teaching, during this first brief advent, is over.)

MATTHEW 25 24-33

a paraphrased ‘enter the story’

 ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ•Š️reading & study ๐Ÿ•Š️๐Ÿƒ

     05/04 - GospeL Verses

24 - But the one who had received the one coin came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you didn’t sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, 25 so I was afraid and went, dug a hole in the ground, and hid your coin” {hid the small amount of spirit had}. “Here, you have what is yours.’ 26 But the master answered, ‘You wicked and lazy servant! You know I reap where I  haven’t sown, and I gather where I scatter no seed? 27 So you should have invested my money with the bankers {usury - use - perhaps sacrificing “the world’s” approval and acceptance} and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. 28 So take the coin from that one and give it to the one who has the ten coins. 29 For to everyone who has {Spirit} will more be given, and they will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what they have will be taken away. 30 And cast the unfit servant into the {inner} outer darkness. Where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ (Mt.13:30/Rev.16:14-15-16.)

     31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels [messengers] with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne [thronos - throne, seat]. {“All the world is a stage” - Shakespeare.} 32 And before him will be - gathered {Rev.16:14-15-16} - all the nations. And he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will place the sheep on his right. But the goats on the left.”
