03-13 - Col-2 Jn-7

N.Testament & Prophecy Advanced CU Study, verses paraphrased  [ ] references { } thots

 • Colossians 2:1-7 John 7:25-36

            ☀️ Colossians 2:1-7

1 - For I (Paul) want you to know how great a struggle I have for you! Also for those at Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to face. 2 That they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so they may have the full riches of full understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God - which is Christ - 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4 I say this that no one may delude and mislead you with convincing sounding arguments. 5 I’m not there with you, but I’m with you in spirit, and I’m rejoicing to know of your stability in Christ. That you’re following his good way, and your faith in him is genuine.

6 For as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, let your walk remain in him! 7 Rooted and built up in him. Established in the faith as you learned! And overflowing in thankfulness!

            πŸŒ™ John 7:25-36

(It was the week of Tabernacles) 25 and some of the people of Jerusalem said, “Isn’t this the one they (the leaders of the nation) seek to kill? 26 And here he is (in the temple) speaking openly. And they’re saying nothing to him! Can it be the authorities really know this is the Christ?”

27 Others said, “But we know where he comes from, and when the Christ appears, no one will know where he comes from.”

28 So Jesus said, as he was teaching in the temple, “You know me, and you know where I come from. But I haven’t come of my own will. He who sent me is true, and you don’t know him. 29 I know him, for I come from him, and he sent me.”

     30 So they were seeking to arrest him, but no one laid a hand on him, because the hour hadn’t yet come. 31 Many did believe in him. They said, “When the Christ appears, will he do more signs than this man has done?!” {And, surprise! What about when he has a long second advent?}

32 The leaders, the chief priests and Pharisees, knew what the people were saying, so they sent officers to arrest him.

33 Jesus said, “I’ll be with you a little longer, and then I’m going to he who sent me. 34 You’ll seek me but you won’t find me. Where I’m going you can’t come.”

35 The people said to one another, “Where’s he going that we won’t find him? Is he planning to go to the kinsmen among the Greeks and teach the Greeks? 36 What does he mean by saying, ‘You’ll seek me and you won’t find me,’ and, ‘Where I am you can’t go’?”

JOHN 12 20-36

     05/06 - GospeL Verses

20 - Now, there were among those who went up to worship at the feast, some Greeks (gentiles/not Hebrew) 21 who came to Philip, he being from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” 22 Philip went and told Andrew, and then they went and told Jesus. 23 And Jesus said, “The hour” (marked by gentiles seeking him) “has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 For truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the earth and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it will bear much fruit. 25 Whoever loves their life loses it, and whoever hates [miseΓ³ - hates, loves less] their life of this world, will keep it for enduring life. 26 If anyone serves me, they will follow me. And where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor them.

27 “Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But for this purpose I have come to this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, saying, “I have glorified it. And I will glorify it again.”

29 The crowd that was standing there and heard it said, “It thundered.” Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.” 30 Jesus said, “This voice has come for your sake, not mine. 31 Now is the judgment of this world. Now will the ruler of this world be cast out.” (By this.) 32 “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all to me.” 33 He said this to show by what kind of death he was going to die.

34 So the crowd answered him, “We have heard from the Law that the Christ remains forever. How can you say the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?” 35 Jesus answered, “The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness come upon you. The one who walks in darkness doesn’t know where they are going. 36 While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become children of light.”

When Jesus had said these things, he left the temple and withdrew himself from the people. (His public teaching, during this first brief advent, is over.)

Today’s GospeL Verses ~ Luke 21:1-7

1 - As Jesus was in the temple, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, 2 including a poor widow who put in two very small copper coins. 3 Then he said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4 For all these others gave gifts from out of their wealth. But she, out of her poverty has put in what she had to live on.”

5 Some of the disciples were saying how the temple was built with such beautiful and impressive stones and was arrayed with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said, 6 “As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left upon another, but every one of them will be thrown down.”

7 “Teacher,” they asked, “when will all that happen?! And what will be the sign that it’s about to take place?”

1 - (From) Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes, 2 to the church [ekklΓ©sia - from ek - out from and to, and kaléō - to call, ecclesia, assembly, group] (people) of God in Corinth. To those sanctified in Christ Jesus, and called to be his holy people, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus —their Lord and ours:

3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus.

GospeL Verses ~ Lk.24:49-53, Mk.16:19,20

49 - “And listen” Jesus said to the eleven, “I will be sending the promise of my Father to you. So stay in the city until you are clothed with (his) power from on high.” 50 And they followed him out as far as Bethany, and then lifting up his hands he blessed them. 51 And while he blessed them, he parted from them and was lifted up into heaven. 52 And having worshiped him (and marveling) they returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 53 and were continually in the temple praising God.

Mark 16:19 - So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken further to them, was taken up into heaven and he sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord was with them, the miracles and wonders, confirming God’s message.

From New Testament Letters

     (In the Order Believed Written)

                ~ Hebrews 2:15-18 ~

Review - Through his death he destroyed the one holding the power of death, that accuser, the devil. (Destroyed the prosecutor, case dismissed).

15 And he delivered all those in bondage to (imperfection and) the fear of death. 16 For surely it is not angels he is helping, but he helps the seed/offspring of Abraham [“which seed is Jesus” Gal.3:16; “and if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and an heir to the promise”].

17 That is why he had to be made like his brothers [adelphois - from the same womb ones] in every respect, so that he will be a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, making atonement/pardon for the sins [hamartia - missing the marks, great and small] of the people. (God is, surely? Life, as what else could or would be? And he “is perfect” mt.5:48, so the result of imperfect is? Death. And it has been PAID in FuLL. A gift, and part of the gift is the faith/knowing to receive and take it and follow the instructions that come with it, for progressive change into - his - likeness. Not an angry God appeased, but our own delicate and (very) tricky psyche that may try to trick us up almost every step of the way - it is what the adversary uses to destabilize and slow or stall our course.) 18 And because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. (Hesitant, stalled?)
