MATTHEW 25 14-23

 a paraphrased ‘enter the story’

 πŸƒπŸ•Š️reading & study πŸ•Š️πŸƒ

      05/03 - GospeL Verses

14 - “Those days {and the kingdom} is like a man who is going on a journey, so he calls his managers and entrusts to them his property. 15 To one he gives five coins {spirit}, to another two coins, and to another one. He gives to each one according to their ability [dynamis - ability, strength, abundance, (miraculous) power, might, ability]. Then he went on his journey.

     16 The one who had received the five coins went out at once and traded with them, and made five more. 17 So also the one who had the two talents (coins, spirit) and made two more. 18 But the one who had received but one coin went and dug a hole in the ground and hid the master's money. {For whatever reason, only a little can cause us to hide the Light? Wishing to get along with, and be accepted by “the world”?}

     19 Now after a long while, the master of those servants came and settled accounts. 20 The one who had received the five coins came forward, bringing five more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five coins, here, I have made you fivefold more.’ 21 The master said, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little, now I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your Lord!’ 22 And also the one who had the two coins came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two coins, and here, I have made twofold more.’ 23 And the master said, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You’ve been faithful over a little, now I set you over much. Enter into the joy of your Lord!’”

         Mark 10:10-16

10 - Later, when he was alone with his disciples in the house, they asked him again about this matter. [Some Pharisees had asked him, as a trick question, about what Moses had written about allowing divorce. Because of their hard hearts, Jesus said.] 11 But he said to them, ‘Whoever shall put away [apoluΓ³ - set free, release, send away] his wife, and marry another, commits adultery against her. 12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she commits adultery.’ (If Jesus doesn’t offer an opinion until asked, why should I?)

     13 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands upon (bless) them, but the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was offended and said to them, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them. The Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will not enter it.” [Translators prefer ‘never’ in this verse, but the word is from two words meaning no and not. ] (I think “surely not” or “cannot” enter the kingdom ..until they can receive it as a child, in faith and  trust. Surely that is true and is logical (root word logos).

         ~ James 1:9-15 ~

9 Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. [Another version - Any of God's people who are poor should be glad he thinks so highly of them.]  10 And the one who is rich, in their humiliation, because they will pass away like a flower of grass. (All will take pride in the role they play in this all important contrast, this letting things run their course. Other option was? A total ant farm?) 11 For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away with all of their achievements. 12 Happy are those who remain faithful under trials, because when they succeed in passing the test, they will receive as their reward the crown [stephanos - that which surrounds, crown, garland, honor] of life which God has promised to those who love him. (A spiritual crown. πŸ˜‡ not πŸ‘‘.) 13 Don't blame God when you are tempted! God cannot be tempted by evil, and he doesn't use evil to tempt others. (What HE did, is he gave thinking and reasoning ability, which includes power of choice.) 14 Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. 15 And when sin is finished with us, it leaves us dead. [And so we have to be rescued from death and its cause, hamartia - missing the mark, translated ‘sin’, wrongdoing, trespass.. but the issue is actually bigger than that. And we have to be reunited to - in union with - God who iS life, and “is perfect”. Creation’s two options? — total ant farm versus total herd immunity?]

           Mark 9:1-13

1 - And Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power.” 2 Six days later he took Peter, James, and John with him and went up on a high mountain, where they could be alone. There, Jesus’ appearance was transformed before them. 3 and his clothes became dazzling white, far whiter than any earthly launderer could ever make them. 4 And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses (from another dimension called the future?) and they were talking with Jesus. 5 Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters (for Tabernacles)—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” 6 For he didn’t know what to say, for they were afraid. 7 Then a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son. Listen to him.” 8 Suddenly, as they looked around, they saw no one with them but Jesus only (the kingdom!) 9 As Jesus and his disciples were coming down the mountain, he told them not to say a word about what they had seen, until the Son of Man had been raised from death. 10 So they kept it to themselves, but they often asked each other what this rising from the dead might mean. (Like today..? Wondering if something is merely metaphor? And heaven forbid literal? ..Those terrible literalists, lol.) 11 Then they asked him, “Why do the scribes say Elijah must return before Messiah comes?” 12 Jesus answered: Elijah certainly will come to get everything ready. But don't the Scriptures also say that the Son of Man must suffer terribly and be rejected? 13 I can assure you that Elijah has already come. And people treated him just as they wanted to, as the Scriptures say they would. (The baptist of course, and spirit of Elijah - “Make ready!! The way of the LORD!”)

           ~ 1 John 5:1-5 ~

1 - Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, also. 2 If we love and obey God, we know we will love his children. [Mk.12:30,31 - “Love the LORD your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. And love others as much as you love yourself..”] (If we genuinely love GOD, who “is love” we will love our fellow person.) 3 In fact, this is love for God, to keep his commands [entolαΈ— - from en - in, which intensifies tΓ©los - reach the end, consummation – properly, "in the end" focusing on the end-result (objective) from entellomai - an authoritative prescription, instructions]. (Prescription for the virulent disease of imperfection/straying from God who is Life and “is perfect” Mt.5:48.) And his commands are not burdensome. 4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And our faith is what gives us this victory. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? The one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
