09/09 ~ From New Testament Letters

   (In the Order Believed Written)

(About the human tongue) 3 - We put a bit in the mouth of a horse, in order to direct the path the horse takes. 4 And look at ships. Though they’re very large and are driven about by strong, blowing winds, they’re steered and guided by a very small rudder. {And words begin in the mind, which begins in the heart - one reason the kingdom for us, begins within. Good news! We can give our heart to God, master heart surgeon.}

     5 So also the human tongue is a small part of the body. Yet it boasts great things! And see how a tiny flame can set a great forest on fire! 6 And so it is with the tongue. It’s a fire. A world of trouble. [“Anyone who doesn’t err in what they say is mature and full grown..” Ja.3:2.]

     And so the tongue can corrupt the entire body, setting on fire the course of one’s life and days. It’s a fire which spark is from hell. {I think this last has at least two meanings.. And then likely we’d argue over which is right, haha! A tongue that causes trouble, division.. misleading rhetoric.. mobs.. Which leaders did against Jesus and later against Paul and friends, and the Lord’s other disciples and followers. Until ultimately man is at the armageddon fiery blaze (come about by division - accusation, name calling - Gal.5:20). Using words to set a blaze going.. is sorcery! But also, do you know someone, a friend or family member who has developed an habitual, terribly sharp tongue? Perhaps it proceeds from a deep, dark misery they are going through. Pray for them to be healed of deep unhappiness?}

Tomorrows verses - James 3:7-12

My own studies, had to paraphrase to post.. which has turned out to be an interesting way to ‘enter the ‘story’.

Start the day with a Psalm (jan 1-20, feb-20’s, mar-30’s, apr-40’s, etc. dec-120-150)
