09-30 - LUKE 17 20-37

paraphrased ‘enter the story’

  🕊️reading & study 🕊️

20 - Jesus was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come. He said to them, “The kingdom of God doesn’t come with observation” [paratḗrēsis - watching like a guard, with close scrutiny - only used in this verse, Lk.17:20]. {Doesn’t come with definite parameters? So not easily observed.. Is more like the wind..and tides?}

     21 “Nor do they say, ‘here it is! or there it is!’ for look! the kingdom of God is [entos - within, inside, among] you.” {When it is in us, then it is among us.}

     22 And to his disciples he said, “The days are coming when you will wish to see one of these days of the Son of Man, but you won’t. 23 And they’ll say to you, ‘Look here!’ or ‘Look there!’ But don’t listen to, nor follow them. 24 For in the same way as lightning flashes - and lights up the starry sky from one side of heaven to the other - so will the Son of Man be in that day.

     25 But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. 26 As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be then. 27 They were eating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, until the day came when Noah went into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them.” {I think this goes with Dn.12:11-12 wiTh Lk.19:41,44 aNd 1Cor.3:16.. A math problem. Father loves a good riddle? Both going on at the same time. Oh, I forgot Rev.2:10 - Dn.12:11 escalates into the most critical during the last “ten days? Rev.2:10}

     28 “Also, same as it was in the days of Lot. They were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. 29 Then, on the same day, when Lot came out of Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from above and destroyed them.” (Mt.13:30.) 30 “And so will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed [apokalýptō - uncovered, revealed, made plain]. 31 And on that day, let the one who is on the housetop, with his goods in the house, not come down to take his goods with him, and likewise let the one who is in the field not turn back [70 CE, later Dn.12:11]. 32 Remember Lot's wife. 33 Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, but whoever lets loose his life will keep it. 34 I tell you - in that night - there will be two in one bed. One will be taken and the other left. 35 There will be two women grinding together. One will be taken and the other left.” {Mt.13:30} 37 And they asked him, “Where, Lord?” He said, “Where the corpse is, there the vultures [aetos - eagle, “throughout the scripture the eagle stands for swiftness, sharp vision {and grasp} exalted vantage point”.. but also other side of the coin, when having to do with the Spirit of God, it’s both mercy and judgment {I think discernment and judgment within. What is most effective? Outward, being judged? Or inner, convinced, judging of self? Not saying there won’t be a few hard cases, but Jn.12:32! Now think the cruel despots or other doers of truly, truly horrendous things, very hurtful, cruel things. On that great - GWT judgment ‘day’ surely, the initial conditions of some, the inner, outside of the Light, darkness, gnashing of teeth, is portrayed in the rich man and Lazarus parable and in the outside of the vision narrative of Rev.22. But because Jesus “will draw all” (Jn.12:32) that will progress into the weeping.. Just imagine the heart wrenching remorse of some..

     But then, at Rev.21:5 - after GWT ‘day’/aion (an “aionion kolasis” / eonian korrection / age of correction - God says “behold! I make all new!” Greek word “pas”, all. Translators inserted “things”. Maybe they just couldn’t really believe? The Good News, is that Good!} “the predator birds will gather.” {Oops I fell down a vulture/aetos rabbit hole.. been a long day!}
