paraphrased ‘enter the story’

11 - Jesus told a parable, “There was a man who had two sons. 12 The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of inheritance that’s coming to me.’ So he did, 13 and not many days later, the young son gathered all he had, and took a journey into a far land, and there he wasted everything in reckless living. 14 And when he had spent all, a severe famine arose, and he began to be hungry. 15 So he hired himself out to one of the farmers of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed the pigs. 16 And he was longing to be fed with the pods the pigs ate! But no one gave him anything to eat.
17 Then he came to himself and said, “How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough food to eat!? And here I perish with hunger! 18 I will go back to my father, and I’ll say to him, ‘Father, I’ve sinned against heaven and you, 19 and I’m no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.’” 20 And so he journeyed home to his father.
And while he was still a distance away, his father saw him coming, and his heart swelled! He ran to meet him and embraced him and kissed him!”
{Where’s the angry Father who’s fiery rage has to be appeased by a blood sacrifice? Perhaps we’ve misread the atonement. Atonement it is! But what is really appeased? Has to be appeased? Strong enough for all. Cannot miss the mark, because God “is Perfect”. Mt.5:48.}
