09/05 - GospeL Verses
28 - Peter said to Jesus, “We’ve left everything to follow you.” 29 Jesus said, “Truly, I tell you, there’s no one who has left house or brothers, or sisters or mother, or father or children, or lands, for my sake and the gospel’s sake, 30 who will not receive a hundredfold now in this age, houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and lands, but with persecutions [diΓ³gmos]. And in the age to come the enduring life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and many last, will be first.”
32 They were on the road to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead at a fast pace. And so those who were following were afraid. And once again he told the twelve what was going to happen. 33 “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the leaders, chief priests and scribes, and they will have him condemned to death and delivered over to the Gentiles (the nations, here Rome). 34 And they will mock him, spit on him, flog him and kill him. But after three days he will rise.”
