28 - Peter said to Jesus, “We’ve left everything to follow you.” 29 Jesus said, “Truly, I tell you, there’s no one who has left house or brothers, or sisters or mother, or father or children, or lands, for my sake and the gospel’s sake, 30 who will not receive a hundredfold now in this age, houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and lands, but with persecutions [diógmos]. And in the age to come the enduring life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and many last, will be first.”

     32 They were on the road to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead at a fast pace. And so those who were following were afraid. And once again he told the twelve what was going to happen. 33 “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the leaders, chief priests and scribes, and they will have him condemned to death and delivered over to the Gentiles (the nations, here Rome). 34 And they will mock him, spit on him, flog him and kill him. But after three days he will rise.”

10 - Later while in the house the disciples asked him again about it. 11 And he said, “Whoever sends away (divorces) his wife and marries someone else commits adultery against her. 12 And if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”

     13 Some were bringing children to him so he might bless them. But the disciples were stopping them. 14 And when Jesus saw it, he was annoyed, “Let the children come to me. Don’t prevent it, for to such as they, belongs the kingdom of God. 15 Truly, I tell you, whoever doesn’t receive the kingdom of God like a little child, doesn’t enter in.” 16 And he took them in his arms and laying his hands on them, he blessed each one.

   09/01 - GospeL Verses

 1 - He left Capernaum and went to the region of Judea and out beyond the Jordan. And crowds once again gathered to him. And as was his custom, he taught them.

      2 And Pharisees came and attempted to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” 3 He answered them, “What did Moses command you?” 4 They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce and send his wife away.” (Rather than sending her away without divorce.) 5 And Jesus said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment/instruction/law. 6 But at the beginning and forming of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’

     7 ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and will join to his wife, 8 and the two are then one.’ So they are no longer two but one. 9 What therefore God has joined together, man shouldn’t separate.” (“Except for adultery” Mt.19:9, and of course abuse. We’re all born sinners/missing the mark/imperfect and have not done all things perfectly, and still don’t. Jesus did not scold the woman of Samaria he met at the well, who had had five husbands. Only once born anew can anyone hope to genuinely do better in this life.)
