10-13 - Gal 4 21-31 Luke 20 1-13

8TH ‘DAY’ CU Journal, New Testament In A Year

Verses paraphrased due to ©‘s [ref] {thots}

            ☀️ A.M. Galatians 4:21-31

21 - Tell me (Paul wrote) - you who desire to be under the law, do you listen to the law? 22 For it’s written that Abraham had TWO sons. One by a slave woman, and one by a free woman. [Being on in years, Sarah insisted, due to lack of faith.] 23 But the son of the slave was born according to the natural {way of things}, while the son of the free woman was born because of a promise. {Which started in Eden, which all peoples took memories, and a version of, from the dispersion from Babel Tower. And later, God promised a son to Abraham, as an heir of the promise, but years passed, and they became elderly.} {Remember, the ultimate promised heir of the promise is Jesus, called one heir. Eph.1:10 “all of heaven and earth gathered into Jesus”. He was of course in the line of Abraham and Isaac.}

     24 Now let us think of this as an allegory — these women are two covenants [diathḗkē - from - diá - thoroughly, intensifying títhēmi - to place, set – properly, a set-agreement having complete terms determined by the initiating party, which also are fully affirmed by the one entering the agreement]. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children in slavery. {Slavery because imperfect, can’t do perfect? But God is life and is perfect! The iron rod/measuring rod. Imperfect unavoidably, is entropy.}

    And that covenant is Hagar, the slave woman. 25 And Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia [from where the laws were given to Moses who gave them to the tribes/nation] and is the present Jerusalem, held in chains with her children.

    26 But the Jerusalem from above is free! And it is she who is our mother! 27 For it’s written, “Rejoice, O desolate one {represented by Sarah} who has not borne any children, break forth and joyfully shout, you who are not in labor! For the children of the barren one will be more than those of the other.”

    28 Now you, like Isaac, are children of the promise! 29 But just as at that time he who was born according to the natural (Ishmael) persecuted the one who was born according to the Spirit (Isaac). So also it is now.

     30 But what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the slave woman! Meaning, the covenant, and her offspring, for the son (covenant) of the slave woman shall not (cannot) inherit with the son” (Jesus). {This is about the two “ways” to be reconciled to God, who is Life. One way works, one way doesn’t. It doesn’t mean believers don’t have convictions, but they’re not commandments for others! Usually about foods and days.}

    31 So, we are not in bondage or slaves, but are of the free woman! Of freedom! {Of the “new and Living WaY” Heb.10:20. Living - Gives Life. Unstopable.. Until literally universal.}

           🌙 P.M. LUKE 20:1-13

1 - As Jesus was teaching the people in the temple and proclaiming the good news, the chief priests, scribes and some elders (leaders, authorities) came up to him 2 and said, “Tell us by what authority you’re doing these things. Who has given you this authority!” {To teach, and turn over the seller’s tables.} 3 He said to them, “I’ll ask you a question. Tell me, 4 was the baptism of John from heaven or was it from man?”

     5 They discussed it among themselves. “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he’ll say, ‘Why didn’t you believe him?’ 6 But if we say, ‘From man,’ the people {this crowd} will stone us, for they’re convinced John was a prophet!” {Can we even imagine, fiery capability of today, way past stones and swords, wouldn’t feature prominently in biblical prophecy?  But not easily understood by the first translators! ..And think cold war, Rev.7:1,3?}

    7 So they told him they didn’t know where John’s baptism came from. 8 And Jesus said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”

     9 And then he told the people a parable, “A man planted a vineyard and he let it out to tenants {and, also Eden to “covering” angels?} and then he went some distance away. 10 When harvest came, he sent a hired servant to the tenants, so they would give him some of the fruit from the vineyard. But the tenants beat him and sent him away empty-handed.

     11 And then he sent another, but they beat and treated him shamefully as they had the first, and sent him away empty-handed as well. 12 And he sent yet a third. This one also they beat and thew out of the vineyard. {Don’t think for one minute, this was a religious/spiritual controversy! Between Jesus and the Pharisees, scribes and Sadducees. This was power and seats, leaders of the nation, seats with Rome. Politics, not religion. Also the Protestant, Catholic wars.. not about faith, per se.. but power. Politics.}

     13 Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I’ll send my beloved son, surely they’ll respect him.’”

Jesus “will draw all” Jn.12:32.
