10-17 - Gal 5 22-26 Mark 12 28-34

8TH ‘DAY’ CU Journal, New Testament In A Year

Verses paraphrased due to ©‘s [ref] {thots}

            ༺☀️༻ Galatians 5:22-26

22 - The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such as that there is no law {needed}. 24 For those who belong to Jesus have crucified the flesh {lower, selfish nature} with its passions [pathΓ©ma - suffering, affliction, passion] and desires [epithumia - forbidden passions].

    25 If we live by the Spirit{/Presence of God our Father who is Love, Life and “is perfect”} let us daily walk in his Spirit. 26 Not becoming boastful and conceited, not provoking one another to anger {harsh thoughts and words} and envying one another. {Competing.}

            ༺☾𖀓༻ MARK 12:28-34

28 - A scribe came along and heard them disputing about resurrection, and hearing Jesus answer so well, he asked him, “Which commandment is the most important one?”

     29 And Jesus said, “The most important, is ‘Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God is one.” {Especially important in the ancient time of plural gods, the time of “the gods”. That God was not one of the plural ‘gods’ that were in the likeness of present imperfect humanity.}

     30 “And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul [psyche], with all your mind, and with all your strength.’” {With all our very being. Logical since God iS life.. and Love.} 31 “The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no greater commandment than these.”

     32 And the scribe said, “You are right, Teacher! You have truly said that he is one, and there is no other besides him. 33 And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” {Those to appease the human conscience! We know we’re flawed. When we mess up we know it. And we will, sabotage and punish ourselves, perhaps sneakily like a monster hiding under the bed.}

     34 And Jesus, seeing that the scribe had answered wisely, said to him, “You’re not far from the kingdom of God.” After that no one dared to ask him any more questions.

Jesus “will draw all” Jn.12:32.
