ACTS 5 17-42

Luke wrote “of the things fulfilled among us” paraphrased  [ ] ref  { } thots

Book of the Acts of the First Believers

     (In response to so many coming to the faith, and to the news of miracles occurring) 17 - The high priest, and those who were with him, that is, the party of the Sadducees, for they were filled with envy, 18 rose up and arrested the apostles and had them put into prison.

     19 But then, during the night, an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors, led them out, and said, 20 “Go to the temple and speak to the people all the words of this Life.” 21 So they went to the temple at daybreak and began to teach.

     In the morning, the high priest and the Sadducees came, and called together the leaders, the senate of the sons of Israel and they sent to the prison to have the apostles brought in. 22 But when the officers came, they didn’t find them, so they returned and reported, 23 “We found the prison securely locked and the guards standing at the doors, but when we opened them we found no one inside!” 24 Now when the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard this, they were greatly perplexed.

     25 Then someone came and told them, “Look! The men you put in prison are right now in the temple, teaching the people.” 26 Then the captain with the officers went and brought them to the council, but not by force, for they were afraid the people would throw stones at them.

     27 The high priest said, 28 “We strictly charged you not to teach in this name! And here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching! You intend to bring this man's blood upon us!”

     29 But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men. 30 The God of our fathers raised Jesus! Who you killed by having him crucified! 31 And God has exalted him at his right hand as (true) Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. 32 And we are witnesses of these things! And so is the Holy Spirit(/Presence of God) which God gives to those who obey him.”

     33 Listening to this, they were enraged and wanted to kill them. 34 But a Pharisee of the council named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law who {unlike most? genuine} was held in honor by the people, stood up and said, “Put the men outside for a while.” 35 So they did, and then he said, “Men of Israel, take care what you do with these men. 36 For before these days Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody, and a number of men, about four hundred, joined him. But he was put to death, and all who followed him were scattered and it all came to nothing. 37 After him Judas the Galilean rose up in the days of the census and drew away some of the people after himself. He too was destroyed, and all who followed him were dispersed. 38 So in this case, keep away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or undertaking is of man, it will fall apart. {For the leader Jesus, had been eliminated.} 39 But if it is of God, you’ll not be able to overcome it. You might even be found to be opposing God!” [Gamamiel was Paul’s teacher, Acts 22:3.]

     So they listened and took his advice, 40 and when they had called in the apostles, had them beat and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus. And then they let them go.

     41 And they left the council rejoicing, and were happy to be counted worthy to suffer for the name [onoma - name, authority, cause] of Jesus.

     42 And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and proclaim that the Christ/Messiah is Jesus.

     [Christ - Christos - promised and prophesied anointed one, Messiah; Greek Xristรณs - from xrรญล - anoint with olive oil – properly, the anointed one, the Christ - Hebrew, Messiah. “Savior of the world” 1Jn.4:14.]

07-07 - From Heb-9 Lk-4

N.Testament & Prophecy Advanced CU Study, verses paraphrased  [ ] references { } thots

Hebrews 9:6-10  Luke 4:31-44

            ☀️ A.M. Hebrews 9:6-10

6 - For the (tabernacle, temple) preparations and rituals, the priests go regularly into the first {entry} section, 7 but into the second interior room, only the high priest goes. And he but once a year. And not without taking blood {strong enough to convince and appease every conscience} which he offers for himself and for the unintentional sins of the people. [Annually on Day of Atonement, DOA.] {A “shadow and type” of the real DOA, for the initiaLLy doa.}

     8 By this the Holy Spirit{/Presence of God} indicates that the way into the most holy place {his presence} is not yet opened as long as the first section is still standing, 9 which is symbolic for the present age.  {This present reality. This entropy! A slow gehenna. We could not endure His Full Presence. Purity consumes impurity. We are still entropic/imperfect - Heb.11:40, 1Cor.15:54.}

     According to the old arrangement, gifts and sacrifices are offered that cannot perfect [teleiลsai] {satisfy} the conscience of the worshiper {once and for all} 10 but it deals only with food and drink and various washings [baptismos] and regulations imposed until the time of restoring [diorthosis - reformation, correction, improvement] {of humanity, which began with Jesus’ first advent, and will be fully completed during his long second advent}.

            ๐ŸŒ™ P.M. Luke 4:31-44

31 - Jesus went back to Capernaum of Galilee, and was teaching on the Sabbath. 32 The people were astonished at his teaching, for his words were skillful and spoken with authority. 33 There was a man in the synagogue who had {was contaminated with} the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, 34 “Ha! What have you to do with us?! You Jesus of Nazareth! Have you come to destroy us?! I know who you are! The Holy One of God!”

     35 Jesus said, “Be silent and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown the man down in their midst of them, he came out, and the man suffered no injury.

     36 Amazed, the people were saying, “What is this?! For with authority and power he even commands the unclean spirits, and they obey!” 37 And so reports and word of him went out to all places in the region.

     38 After that, he left the synagogue and went to Simon's house. Simon Peter’s mother-in-law was ill with a high fever, so they appealed to him on her behalf. 39 And he went to her and rebuked the fever, and it left her, and immediately she rose, and she prepared a meal for them.

    40 Later on, when the sun was setting, all those who had any who were sick with various diseases, brought them to him. And he healed them by touching and laying his hands on every one of them. 41 And demons also came out of many, crying, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and wouldn’t allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Christ, the Messiah.

    42 On the next day, he went out to a lonely place. But the people looked for him and found him, and were urging him to stay with them, 43 but he said, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well. For this is why I was sent.” 44 And so in those days, he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.

If you happened to read yesterday’s gospel reading and study, somehow I got it in a wrong order. It was way out of place. Not shocking, I’m 71 afterall, and I ‘knew’ it, but it was a busy day. ..Don’t you just love reading about Jesus’ days? You should read yesterday’s, I fixed it.

07-05 - From Heb-8 Jn-2

N. TESTAMENT & PROPHECY ADVANCED CU ANNUAL STUDY, VERSES PARAPHRASED [REFERENCES] {THOTS}

Hebrews 8:1-10  John 2:1-12

            ☀️ A.M. Hebrews 8:1-10

1 - What we are saying is this, we have a high priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the majestic one on high. 2 And he is a minister in the holy place. In the true tent!  (Of worship, union.) One the LORD prepared and built, and not man. 3 For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices. And so it’s necessary for this priest also to have something to offer. 4 Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are priests who offer gifts according to the law. 5 They serve a copy and a shadow, a replica of the real thing. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, “See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown to you on the mountain.” {Creation, space, time, prophecy, is repeating pattern. Prophecy repeats until fullness and full scope, including the two advents. Note: the fibonacci spiral, dna, the universe, greek kosmos..}

     6 Now the new ministry (of Jesus) and the new agreement {between us and God - the faith of Jesus} is more excellent than the old, since it’s enacted on better promises. 7 For if the first covenant (agreement, contract, vows taken) had hit the mark, being able and sufficient to make one perfect, it would not have been necessary for a second. {God iS life and “is perfect” so imperfect is this entropy.. “the flower fades”.. All fades ..away. The Good News is resurrection. There will be two resurrections, how do we know? Because the one at Jesus’ return is called a “first resurrection”, and Revelation 20 briefly describes the second. ..The chapter’s told like describing just the crests of waves. Once we know that, we can see quite a lot in that chapter! After the 7th millennium - the “kosmos” having big banged (via God’s speaking/word into what it is, and then it was put into its motion - there has to be an “8th” millennium (a collective, spiritual “8th day” do you see the pattern? 1st outline, the week plus 1). Rev.20 says, during that 8th millennium, first Satan (&Co.) is let loose. And he goes out to the four ‘corners’ of Earth and gathers the people to another armageddon. Who? Who does he gather? And how long does it take? It seems to me there had to have been natural survivors of armageddon/war and apocalypse/crash. And they had children and so forth on through the 7th millennium, which was a Sabbath rest from the adversary/accelerant.

     This brings us to a second outline. One within the other.. like the wheel within wheels on God’s ?traveling throne? (Original word means seat.) ..Described in Ezekiel.. and Jeremiah? I have to get back to the prophets soon..

     This second outline is the Spring and Fall holy days of Leviticus 23, as the Lord’s two advents. (Of course! Right?) If you examine it, you’ll see how long the satanic gathering to another armageddon takes.

     It’s at that point - the 2nd armageddon - that there is the second of three mentions of a lake of fire. Each one being at a fiery event. This one is the fiery final defeat of the adversary. First mention is at the first armageddon (Is.24:20/Rev.10:4) and the last mention is at the fiery “palin(again)genesis” when God says “Behold! I make all new” Rev.21:5. Which brings us to the second resurrection. In this verse (Rev.21:5) “all” has been changed into “all things”. By just a very few errors of translation, the message has been.. corrupted. Although! Throwing out the baby/bible with the bath water.. and oh man, what gets missed! Within and without! Another pattern.}

     {The first covenant, called the Laws of Moses - is society preservative. Preparation for Messiah. And still Truth today.. yet the Lord said (for example) it’s not only good enough, to not murder {lol} but don’t despise our fellow person and neighbor. ..That’s part of the satanic gathering(s) to armageddon!}

     8 For he finds fault with them when he says, “Look, the days are coming” declares the LORD, “when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, 9 not like the one I made with their fathers, on the day when I took them by the hand, and brought them out of the land of Egypt. (And 400 years of slavery.) For they didn’t honor my covenant, and so I showed to them no concern” says the LORD. {Shield of his Spirit/Presence worn thin.. All humanity will be “grafted into Israel” - you see why Israel is despised? Not that they’re perfect.. No nation is.}

     10 For this is the covenant/agreement/vow/union I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD, I will plant {to remain} my laws into their minds, and write them upon their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” {Ultimately, all humanity as Israel. Believers are “grafted into” ..like one would graft beautiful branches into a big old olive tree.}

            ๐ŸŒ™ P.M. John 2:1-12

1 - Three days later (after Jesus’ baptism) there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Jesus also was invited to the wedding along with his (few, four?) disciples. 3 When they ran out of wine, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They’ve run out of wine.” 4 And he said, “Woman  {Mom? lol} what does that have to do with me? My hour hasn’t come yet (for doing miracles, etc)..” 5 His mother said to the workers, “Do whatever he tells you.”

     6 There were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rite of purification, each one able to hold twenty or thirty gallons. 7 So Jesus said, “Fill the jars with water.”

     And they filled them up to the brim.  {To the brim! We are vessels for the “new wine”!} 8 Then he said, “Draw some out and take it to the master of the wedding feast.”

     And so they did. 9 And when the master of the wedding party tasted the water turned to wine, and didn’t know where it came from, though the ones who had drawn the water knew, the master of the feast called the bridegroom, 10 and he said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first! And when people have drank freely, then they serve the inferior wine! But you’ve kept the best wine until last!” {A bit of metaphor and prophecy here too.}

     11 This, at Cana in Galilee, was the first of the signs Jesus did, revealing his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

     12 After this he went down to Capernaum, with his mother, brothers and disciples, and they stayed there for a few days.

Hebrews 7:25-28  Mark 1:14-20

            ☀️ A.M. Hebrews 7:25-28

25 - And so, it is true {and a sure foundation/expectation} that he [high priest, Jesus] is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he is always living to intercede for us. [“Intercede” - entygxรกnล - from en “in” - which intensifies tygxรกnล - to light upon, tygxรกnล means to strike and hit the bulls-eye, be spot on, it was used in classical Greek as the opposite of harmartia - to miss the mark, sin - by Lucian, Xenophon, Homer, etc. - biblehub dot com.]

     {His purpose now, is bringing us to fully hitting the mark. Why is perfection necessary?  - We “put on perfection” (1Cor.15, Heb.11:40, Mt.5:48, 1Jn.2:5) “at his coming” (1Cor. 15:23) thus immortality.. Because God iS Life, and “is Perfect”. An iron measure. This also means the ‘end’ result of this unavoidable contrast, is the best one possible. Greek word “tel” root of telescope, the “end-aim”. Note: prophecy is fulfilled as small scope and later full scope. Including the advents.}

     26 For it’s indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest. One who is pure and sacred, holy, innocent, unstained or contaminated, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. 27 He has no need, like the other (only human) high priests, to offer sacrifices every day, first for his own sins. And then for those of the people, since Jesus did this once, and for all, when he offered up himself. {Being the spotless lamb, not imperfect/entropic, which the Old Testament sacrifices portrayed the message - the priesthoods to appease, imo, the human psyche and conscience. Not God’s anger.. for HE “has subjected all to disobedience” to(?) get it over with, much quicker as a one and done?}

     28 For the law appoints men in their weakness to serve as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a perfect(ed) Son.

     [Perfect(ed) - teleioรณ (tel-eioo) made complete, perfected, accomplished - to bring to an end, conclude.] {Everything (now) is prone to corruption. Except the Son, THE straight out from God - one - perfect, able to bring us/humanity to perfection, which (for believers) is consummated at his return.. and for the rest at the Rev.21:1-5 event, at close of GWT Judgment and Closure ‘Day’. Rev.21:5 is one of many verses where “all” has been translated into “all things”. I think due to disbelief and ancient ideas. Some think Apollos wrote Hebrews.}

            ๐ŸŒ™ P.M. Mark 1:14-20

14 - John (the baptist/baptizer) was arrested, and meanwhile Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, 15 saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent [metanoeรณ - meta and noieo - to think differently afterwards] and believe the gospel.” [Euaggelion - good news, gospel, good message.]

     16 And passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon (Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 17 And Jesus said to them, “Follow me. I’ll make you fishers of men.” {They had seen him announced,  at the Jordan River, or at least fellow fishermen John and James did, one of the other gospel accounts says.}

     18 They left their nets, immediately, and went with him. 19 And going on a little further, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who were in their boat mending their nets. 20 And he called to them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired workers and followed him.

Hebrews 7:18-24  Luke 3:23-4:15

             ☀️ A.M. Hebrews 7:18-24

18 - For on the one hand, a former commandment is set aside because of its weakness and inability. 19 For the-law-makes-nothing-perfect. {Its purpose is to define imperfect? And to produce a place for Messiah to begin.}

     But a better hope [elpis - *expectation*] is revealed - *through which we draw near to God*. 20 And it was not without an oath! Others became priests without an oath. 21 but he became a priest with an oath, when God said to him: “The LORD has sworn, and will not change his mind: ‘You are a priest forever [eis hรฉ aiรณn - for the age].” {Oath - ISAIAH 45:23 - “I have sworn by myself” (because there is nothing higher to swear by). “The word [dabar - word, matter, thing, speech, command, promise] is gone out of my mouth in righteousness. It shall not turn back.” (Remember, he spoke creation into as is …(then set it in motion.) “Unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear [shaba - swear, take an oath, vow; related to sheba or shibah - seven, seventh, seven times — completion, solemn and binding oath.]

     [From biblehub dot com - “God had completed His work that He had done, and He rested on the seventh day” Gen.2:2. Seven is the pattern of time and creation. Everything that follows, Sabbath, sabbatical years, Jubilee, echoes this inaugural pattern of work crowned by rest and blessing.”]

     22 What this means is Jesus is the guarantor [egguos - surety, pledge, guarantee] of a better covenant. 23 The former priests were many, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, 24 but because of the abiding of him for the age permanent he holds the priesthood. (The verse word for word.)

            ๐ŸŒ™ P.M. Luke 3:23-4:15

23 - Jesus, when he began his ministry, was about thirty years old, being the son, as was supposed, of Joseph, the son of Heli..  24 - 36 …37 the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalaleel, the son of Cainan, 38 the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God. {Notice, son of God as first/proto.}

     Lk.4:1 - And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit {Presence of God} returned from the Jordan River and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness 2 for forty days.

     And the devil came to tempt him. Jesus ate nothing during those days, and when they were ending, he was hungry 3 and the devil said to him, “If you’re the Son of God, command this stone to become bread!” 4 But Jesus answered, “It’s written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone.’”

     5 And the devil took him up and in a moment of time, showed him all the kingdoms of the world, 6 and said to him, “I will give to you all this authority, and their glory, for it’s been delivered to me, and I give it to whoever I will.” {Hijacked! Confiscated! ..Actually engineered for this ‘quick’ one&done, all important, unavoidable contrast. Devil as accelerator.} 7 “And if you will worship me, it will all be yours!”

     8 And Jesus answered, “It’s written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and him, only, shall you serve.’”

     9 And he took him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said, “If you’re the Son of God, throw yourself down! 10 For it’s written, ‘He will command his angels concerning you, to guard you,’ 11 and ‘on their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”

     12 And Jesus answered, “It’s also written, ‘You shall not put the LORD your God to the test.’” 13 And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until a later opportune time. {Truth - is the shield and sword, “thy word is truth” Jn.17:17.}

     14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a report about him went out through all the surrounding country. 15 And he taught in their synagogues, being approved of by all.

Hebrews 5:10-14  Matthew 2:1-12 and ACTS 4:1-22 separately

10 - So Jesus being designated and declared by God, a high priest after the order of Melchizedek, 11 about this we have much to say, which is hard to explain, since you’ve become dull of hearing! {Melchizedek seeming to be “a priest forever” confirms Jesus’ pre-existence with God. He being “forever first” (proto) and onLy straight out from God one.}

     12 By this time you ought to be teachers! But you need someone to teach you again the primary, basic and beginning principles of the message of God. You still need milk, and not solid food.

     13 Everyone living on milk lacks skill in the message of righteousness and justice [dikaiosunรฉ - righteousness, justice] since they are still but a child.

     14 But solid food is for the mature. For those having sharpened their powers of discernment, by the constant practice of distinguishing good from evil.

     [Good & evil - KALOS - good, beautiful, noble, excellent, honest, honorable, beneficial, tends toward life; and KAKOS - bad, evil, wicked, harmful, noisome, injurious; from root kakรญa - inner malice,  compromised, as in the "rot is already in the wood"]. {Imperfection/entropy/decay/corruption.. hamartia - “missing the mark” translated sin. Imperfect is an abyss of potential (Rev.9:2). God is Life, and “is Perfect”. Perfect is the final Word of everything. But there’s the matter of at least some power of choice is included in being able to think and reason. God as Life lives through and experiences all things that occur.. and endowed thinking and reasoning to man and angel anyway.. Engineered it so the drama is a one and done.

            ๐ŸŒ™ P.M. Matthew 2:1-12

1 - After Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of king Herod the Great, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is he who’s been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and we’ve come to worship him.”

     3 Now when Herod (a Hebrew/Jew) heard this, he was vexed, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 So assembling the leaders of the people, the chief priests and scribes, he questioned them where the Christ was prophesied to be born. 5 They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet, 6 ‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah. For from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’”

     7 Then Herod secretly having called the wise men inquired of them what time the star had appeared. 8 And he sent them on to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child, and when you’ve found him, bring me word, so I too may come and worship him.”

     9 After this, the wise men {astronomer, astrologers} went on their way. And behold, the star they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. 10 And when they saw it, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. 11 And going inside, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they knelt and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold, frankincense and myrrh. 12 And then warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way.

Hebrews 5:5-9  Luke 2:8-20

           ☀️ A.M. Hebrews 5:5-9

5 - Even Christ didn’t exalt himself to be made a high priest! Instead he was appointed by He who said to him, “You are my Son, today I’ve begotten you”. 6 And says in another place, “You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.” {Proving his pre-existence with the Father, as the only straight out from God one, called, forever first/proto. So close both administer God’s Spirit/Presence, same as will saturate and “seal” all creation and humanity. God’s “end-aim” (tel, translated end). How do you keep a paradise intact? An ant farm is no paradise?}

     7 In the days of his {entropic} flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to he who was able to save him from death, and was heard because of his reverence and submission. 8 Although he was a son, through what he suffered, he learned obedience. 9 And being tested as perfect, to all who obey him, he became the source of enduring salvation.

     [Ps.22:27 - All the ends of earth will remember (zakar - be mindful of) and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will praise Him.]

            ๐ŸŒ™ P.M. Luke 2:8-20

8 - Not far away that same night, there were shepherds in the field, keeping watch over their sheep. 9 Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and the glory of the Lord was shining brightly. The shepherds were filled with fear and wonder.

     10 And the angel said, “Fear not, for listen, I bring you good news, of great joy, that will be for all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you, you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger” (a feeding trough). 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host [stratia - army, band, organized host] praising God, saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest! And his good pleasure, in which he delights, peace on Earth among men!”

     15 When the angels left, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this which the LORD has made known to us!” 16 And they went with haste, and they found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. 17 And when they saw him, they told all which they had heard concerning the child. 18 And all who heard it wondered. 19 But Mary treasured up these things, pondering them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as it had been told to them by the angel.

Hebrews 5:1-4  Luke 2:1-7

           ☀️ A.M. Hebrews 5:1-4

1 - In the earthly priesthood, every high priest from among men is appointed to act on behalf of the people in their relation to God. They offered gifts and sacrifices for sins. {The human psyche and conscience fears God. It’s not God who “is Love”, that needs to be appeased. There wAs the atonement, no doubt! Also called a ransom. And salvation/safety.}

     2 A priest can deal gently with the unknowing and wayward, since he himself has human weakness [astheneia - weakness, disease, infirmity, sickness, frailty, dependence, infirmity that causes inability to pursue or do what they would like to; from asthenes - “a” not, and sthenes - strength - without strength]. 3 So the {earthly} priest has to offer sacrifice for their own sin [hamartia - missing the mark] just as for those of the people. {Ps.40:6 - “sacrifice and offering you do not want”. Sacrifices for and on behalf of the people.} 4 And no one takes this honor for their self {of being a priest for the people} but only when called by God, as Moses’ brother Aaron was.

            ๐ŸŒ™ P.M. Luke 2:1-7

1 - In those days Caesar Augustus sent out a decree that all the world should be registered. 2 This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And all went to be registered, each to their own hometown. 4 So Joseph went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David. 5 He went to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.

     6 And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger (feeding trough) because there was no room for them in the inn.

Hebrews 3:1-6  Luke 1:1-25

            ☀️ A.M. Hebrews 3:1-6

1 - And so, dear brothers and sisters who belong to God and who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus. He is God’s messenger to us, and our High Priest. 2 He was faithful to the one who appointed him, like Moses was faithful in all of God's household.  {Moses chizeled the ten society preservative “commandments” on stone, and wrote the historical first five books of the Bible, likely on leather.}

     3 But Jesus has been counted worthy of much more glory than Moses. Like the glory of the builder of a house, has more honor than the house he builds.

     4 For every house is built by someone! But the builder of all things is God. 5 Now Moses was faithful in all God's house as a servant, to testify of the things that were spoken to him, 6 but Christ is faithful over God's house as a son. [A firstborn Son.] And - we - are his house, if indeed we hold fast to our confidence and joyful hope [elpis - (our joyful) expectation, trust, confidence].

            ๐ŸŒ™ P.M. Luke 1:1-25

[The gospel account written by Luke, a Greek doctor who met Paul during Paul’s second missionary journey.]

     Chapter 1, verse 1 - Inasmuch as many have undertaken to write an account of the things that have occurred among us, 2 and just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and heralds of the message, 3 it seemed good to me also, having followed all these things closely for some time now, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so you may know for certain, concerning the things you’ve been taught. {This is one of my favorite paragraphs of the Bible.๐Ÿค“}

     5 It was in the days of Herod, king of Judea {“the Great” Rev.12:4; ch.12 one of 3 tellings of the rev. vision, vs.17 w/mt.23:39}. There was a priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. His wife was from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. 6 They were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in the commandments and statutes of the LORD. 7 But they had no child. Elizabeth was barren, and both of them were now advanced in years.

     8 And while he was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty, 9 according to the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the LORD to burn incense.

     10 And the people were praying outside (in the courts around the temple, especially in the court of the women) at the hour of incense and prayer.

     11 And there appeared to Zechariah an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. 12 Which frightened him. 13 But the angel said, “Don’t be afraid. For your prayer has been heard, Zechariah. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14 You will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, 15 for he will be great before the LORD. He must not drink wine or strong drink, for he will be filled with the Holy Spirit(/Presence of God) even from his mother's womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the LORD their God, 17 for he will go forth before him, and in the spirit and power of Elijah {in God’s Spirit/Presence} to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just. To make ready for the LORD a people prepared.” {For Messiah/sent, anointed one, aka King, deliverer, savior.}

     18 And Zechariah said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I’m an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.”

     19 And the angel said, “I’m Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news. 20 Now you’ll be silent, unable to speak, until these things take place, because you didn’t believe my words {and spoke, and might again?} which will be fulfilled in its allotted time.”

     21 The people were outside waiting, and were wondering about Zechariah’s delay in the temple. 22 When he came out, he was unable to say anything, and they realized he had seen a vision. He made signs to them but remained mute. 23 And when his time of service was ended, he went home.

     24 And after these days his wife Elizabeth conceived, and for five months she kept herself isolated, saying, 25 “Thus the Lord has done for me in the days when he looked upon me, to take away my reproach {embarrassment, feeling shamed} among the people.”
