     05/18 - GospeL Verses

1 - “Behold” (listen) “I have said all these things to you to keep you from falling away. 2 They will put you out of the meetings and groups. Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think they are offering service to God! 3 And they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me. 4 But I’ve said these things to you, so when that hour comes you may remember my saying them to you.

I didn’t say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you. 5 But now I’m going to he who sent me, and none of you ask me, ‘Where are you going?’ 6 But because I’ve said these things, sorrow has filled your hearts. 7 Yet, I tell you the truth, it’s to your advantage that I go away. Because if I don’t go away, the helper/sustainer will not come to you. {“You must be born again/from above”? The born again breath of Life.} Of which, if I go, I will send to you. 8 And when he” {the Shekinah?} comes, he will convince the world concerning sin [hamartia - missing the mark] and concerning righteousness and judgment. 9 Concerning sin, because they don’t believe in me, 10 concerning righteousness, because I am going to the Father, and you will see me no longer. 11 Concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

12 I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When shall come he, the spirit of truth, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak of himself, but whatever to hear, he will speak, and things coming will declare to you. 14 He will honor and bestow glory upon me, and that which is mine, he will make known to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine. That’s why I say he will reveal to you what is mine. 16 A little while now, and you will see me no longer. Then a little while, and you’ll see me again.”

        Paul’s Letter To The Romans

1 - What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh? 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. 3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.” 4 Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. {Like God could owe us!} 5 And to the one who does not work but believes in he who justifies the ungodly, his faith is reckoned as righteousness, 6 just as David also spoke of the blessing of the one to whom God reckons as righteous, apart from works. {Apart from outward effort, trying to earn what GOD says is a gift. In return be a whole burnt offering to him. Yielded into his hands/POWER.)

7 “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is man, upon whom the LORD will not reckon sin [hamartia - missing the mark].”

1 Corinthians 15:50-58

12/12 ~ From New Testament Letters

๐Ÿ•Š️ (In the Order Believed Written)

50 - I’ll tell you this {mere} flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor can the perishable inherit the imperishable! {The fading away cannot inherit the enduring. You mean we are not inherently immortal!?} 51 And listen! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep (in death, opposite of life and living, Eccles.9:5,10} but we shall all be changed! 52 In a moment! In a mere twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet, for the trumpet will sound. And the dead will be raised imperishable, and we too (who remain) shall be changed. 53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then, shall come to pass, the saying that’s written, “Death is swallowed up in victory!” 55 “O death, where has gone your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin [hamartia - missing the mark] and the power of that sting is the law. {God iS life, and “is perfect”. An iron/unbreakable measuring rod.} 57 But thanks be to God! Who gives us - the victory - through our Lord Jesus Christ! {Perishable and perishing/entropy/imperfection remedied by what’s called God’s Great Plan of Salvation, “the Way”. The way that includes writing his law upon heart, mind and psyche, collectively and individually. Humanity and paradise/perfection sealed.}

58 Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast and immovable! Always abounding in the Lord’s work, knowing that, in him, your labor is not in vain.

1 - Now I would remind you of the good news I proclaimed to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are saved, if you hold fast to it - unless your belief was vain/not genuine. 3 For I proclaimed and delivered to you, as of first importance, what I, also, received: that Christ died for our sins [hamartia - missing the mark] as told in the Scriptures. 4 That he was buried, and then raised on the third day, as the Scriptures say. 5 And that he appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James (Jesus’ natural/birth brother, Gal.1:19) then again to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.

GospeL Verses ~ John 9:35-10:6

35 - Jesus heard that they had cast out the man healed of blindness, and having found him said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” 36 The man  answered, “Who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?” 37 Jesus said, “You have seen him, and it is he who is speaking with you.” 38 He said, “Lord, I believe,” and he reverenced him. 39 Jesus said, “It is for judgment that I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and those who (think they) see (are superior) may become blind.” 40 Some of the Pharisees nearby heard him say this and said, “Are we also blind?” 41 Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would have no guilt. But because you say, ‘We see,’ your guilt remains.

10:1 “Truly, I tell you, whoever doesn’t enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that one is a thief and a robber. 2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep, 3 and the gatekeeper opens the gate to him. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he walks ahead of them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5 A stranger they won’t follow, but will flee, for they don’t recognize the voice of strangers.” 6 This figure of speech Jesus used, but they didn’t understand what he was saying.

                  ~ Ephesians 2:1-9 ~

1 - And you (we) were dead in trespasses and sin [hamartia - missing the mark] (God is Life and “is perfect” mt.5:48, so imperfect unavoidably leads to the opposite of life) 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— (which inherits judgment, earthly results and consequences Ps. and revelation’s horse and rider 2, which expanded into seal 6, described as its full effects first to last) 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our lower nature (of me first, etc) carrying out inordinate desires of the body and mind, and (we) were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. (Wrath being the results, consequences, cause and effect, as God built a cause and effect universe so calls judgments as his.) 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even wheN we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together in Christ. By grace you have been saved.  6 And he raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus (where we are now, Rev.7:9,4; 14:4; 9:5) 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. (Show it to who? And for what purpose?) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing. It is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works (earning, being good enough) so that no one (not one) may boast.

In fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering a service to God! 3 These things they will do because they don’t know me, nor the Father. 4 And these things I have told you so that when the hour comes, you will remember I said them. I didn’t tell you at the beginning, because I was with you. 5 Now however, I am going back to the one who sent me, yet none of you asks where I’m going. 6 But now sorrow has filled your hearts. Yet I tell you the truth, it’s profitable for you that I go away, because if I don’t go, the helper will not be sent to you. But if I go I will send the helper (aid?) to you. 7 And having come, he (God’s very Spirit/Presence) will convince the world concerning sin [hamartia - missing the mark] and concerning righteousness and judgment. 8 Concerning missing the mark, because they do not believe in me. 9 Concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and will no longer be seen. 10 And concerning judgment because the ruler of this world has been judged. 11 I have many things however, to say to you, which you are not yet able to bear. 12 When however shall come He, the Spirit (and Presence) of Truth, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak against himself, but how much you listen, shall he speak of things coming. 13 He will glorify/reveal me, for he shall take that which is mine and explain it to you. 14 All things which are of the Father are mine. That’s why I said he shall reveal to you the things concerning me. 15 In a little while you will not see me. Then after a little while, you will see me, because I am going away to the Father. 16 And the disciples asked each other what he meant, that they would no longer see him and then they would see him again.

1 - I want you to remember, my friends, what happened to our ancestors who followed Moses. They were all under the protection of the cloud, and all passed safely through the Red Sea. 2 Which was like being baptized into Moses, 3 and all ate the same spiritual food. 4 And they drank the same spiritual drink, which was from “the rock” - Jesus - who was with them. 5 Albeit many of them were not well pleasing to the LORD, and some of them perished on the way, in the wilderness. (The journey was extended because the people strayed so badly.) 6 To us now, these things are types [tupos - a figure, model, type] (life made up of repeating patterns) and serves as a warning to us, not to go after or be enthusiastic for the things that are evil/notGood.

27 Again they entered Jerusalem. As Jesus was walking through the Temple area, the leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders came up to him. 28 They demanded, “By what authority are you doing all these things? Who gave you the right to do them?” 29 “I’ll tell you by what authority I do these things if you answer me one question,” Jesus replied. 30 “I ask you, was the baptism of John from heaven or from man?” 31 They talked it over among themselves. “If we say it was from heaven, he will ask why we didn’t believe John. 32 But do we dare say it was merely human?” For they were afraid of what the people would do, because everyone believed that John was a prophet. 33 So they finally replied, “We don’t know.” And Jesus responded, “Then I won’t tell you by what authority I do these things.”

13 Someone in the crowd called out to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to give me my share of the inheritance our father left us when he died." 14 Jesus answered him, "Friend, who made me judge, or a divider between you!” 15 And he said to the crowd, "Beware! Be careful to guard yourselves from every kind of greed [pleoneksรญa - advantage, greed, from pleรญลn - numerically more, and รฉxล - have; the desire for the unnecessary more] for your life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” 16 So he told them this parable, “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have nowhere to store this abundance. 18 Then he said, ‘I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I’ll sit back and say to myself, ‘My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come! Now take it easy. Eat, drink, and be merry!’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Foolish one [aphron - senseless] this night your soul [psyche] is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.” [Or - “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God” - New Living Translation, NLT.]

9 Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge stands at the door! (Judgment, cause and effect, reap what you sow is ever at the door.) 10 As an example of patience in affliction, consider the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful. 12 But most of all, my brothers and sisters, never take an oath, by heaven or earth or anything else. Just say a simple yes or no. Otherwise you will be condemned. (You will condemn yourself. Setting yourself up.) 13 If you are having trouble, you should pray. And if you are feeling good, you should sing praises. 14 If you are sick, ask the elders to come and pray for you and put olive oil on you in the name of the Lord. 15 Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. 16 Confess (acknowledge) your sins [hamartia - missing the mark, shortcomings] to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. 17 Elijah was just as human as we are, and for three and a half years his prayers kept the rain from falling. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the land yielded its abundance. 19 My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring them back, you can be sure that whoever brings them back from wandering will save his soul from death and cover a multitude of sin [hamartia - missing the mark, failure, from A "not" and mรฉros - a part, share of – properly, no-share, no part of, loss (forfeiture) because of  not hitting the target].

           Mark 1:1-8

1 - This is the beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. 2 It began just as God had said in the book written by Isaiah the prophet, "I am sending my messenger to get the way ready. He will go before you (before the Son) 3 a voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord! Make straight paths for him.’” 4 And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, baptizing and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins [hamartia - missing the mark]. 5 All of Judea, including all the people of Jerusalem, went out to see and hear John confessing [exomologeรณ - “acknowledging”] their hamartia - “missing the mark” and John baptized them in the Jordan River.

6 John wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. 7 And this was his message, “After me comes the one more powerful than I! The straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to even stoop down and unlace! 8 I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit!” (With God’s very Spirit/Presence!)

           ~ Hebrews 7:4-10 ~

4 Consider then how great this Melchizedek [the example of Christ] was. Even Abraham - the patriarch - knew how great, and gave him a tenth of what he had taken from his battle (with “the kings” to rescue his nephew Lot from capture in a war of kings/nations who were revolting against Mesopotamian rule).

5 Moses’ law requires the descendants of Levi, who become priests, to collect a tenth/tithe from their people, who also are descended from Abraham. 6 But Melchizedek, who was not a descendant of the later Levi, collected a tenth from, and blessed Abraham, the one God gave his promise to! 7 Everyone agrees a person who gives a blessing is greater than the one who receives the blessing.

8 And the priests of the tribe of Levi, who collect tithes, are men who die. So Melchizedek is greater than they are, because it is as though he lives on. [Having no record of birth or death, so seeming, in a sense, to be immortal. But which Abraham, original patriarch, met this ancient priest of God/Yhvh on the road (of life) after rescuing Lot.] And so again, one might even say that Levi (descendant of Abraham and original head of one of the “twelve tribes”) who collects the tenth (as priest and civil servant) - paid the tenth to Melchizedek - through Abraham, 10 because Levi was born later into the offspring and family of Abraham - who paid a tithe to Melchizedek.

(Hebrews was likely written by “Apollo” known as quite a scholarly Israelite and an early believer, Acts 18:24-28.)

            Luke 1:67-80

67 The Holy Spirit came upon Zechariah (John the Baptist’s father) and he began to speak - 68 “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and performed [poieรณ: did, made, manufactured, constructed] redemption [lutrรณsis - a ransoming, a redemption; from lutroรณ - to release by paying a ransom] for his people. 69 He has sent us a mighty Savior from the royal line of his servant David. [Another version - He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David.] 70 Just as he promised through his prophets long ago.

71 We will be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us! 72 He has been merciful to our ancestors by remembering his sacred agreement (testament, oath). 73 The agreement he swore with an oath to our ancestor Abraham. 74 That we, being delivered from hostile hands, may serve Him without fear, 75 in justice and righteousness, all our days.  [He changes us - metanoรฉล - from metรก, "changed after being with, noiรฉล - think — think differently after]. 76 And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way, 77 to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins [hamartรญa - from “A” - not, and “mรฉros” - a part, share of — forfeiture because of not hitting the target, missing the mark, failure, sinful deed]. 78 Because of the affection and compassion of God, the sunrise (son-rise) from on high will visit us! [Another version - God's love and kindness will shine upon us like the sun that rises in the sky!] 79 To shine on those living in darkness and in - the shadow - of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

80 And the child grew and became strong in spirit. And he lived in the wilderness until he appeared publicly to Israel.

From New Testament Letters

          (In Order Written)

           ~ Hebrews 4:12-16 ~

12 The word of God is alive and powerful! It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. [Soul - psyxแธ— - from psyxล - to breathe, blow, root of the English word psyche, a person's distinct identity, unique personhood.] [Spirit - pneuma - wind, spirit.] 13 Nothing is hidden from God! He sees through everything, and it is to him that we must all give an account of ourselves. 14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. 15 For we have a chief priest who is not unable to sympathize with our weaknesses. Because he was tempted in every way that we are, but he didn't sin (“miss the mark”, misstep, do wrong). 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence! There we will receive mercy and find grace to help us, always being just what we need.
