         Mark 11:27-33

27 Again they entered Jerusalem. As Jesus was walking through the Temple area, the leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders came up to him. 28 They demanded, “By what authority are you doing all these things? Who gave you the right to do them?” 29 “I’ll tell you by what authority I do these things if you answer me one question,” Jesus replied. 30 “I ask you, was the baptism of John from heaven or from man?” 31 They talked it over among themselves. “If we say it was from heaven, he will ask why we didn’t believe John. 32 But do we dare say it was merely human?” For they were afraid of what the people would do, because everyone believed that John was a prophet. 33 So they finally replied, “We don’t know.” And Jesus responded, “Then I won’t tell you by what authority I do these things.”

22 But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin [greek hamartia - “missing the mark” so imperfect, we are, but God is Life and “is perfect” mt.5:48, so imperfect is the opposite of life, and imperfect cannot make itself perfect. It is a gift from start to finish, all God needs is our enthusiastic agreement) so we - receive - God’s promise of freedom, only by believing in Jesus Christ. 23 Before the way of faith came, we were placed under guard by the law. We were kept in protective custody (and training) so to speak, until the way of faith was revealed. 24 So the law was our guardian and tutor until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. 25 Now that the time for faith is here, we are no longer under a trainer [paidagógos - a trainer, coach, tutor]. 26 For in Christ Jesus you are all sons and daughters of God, through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized - into - Christ, have clothed yourselves - with - Christ. 28 There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male nor female. For you are all one (equal) in Christ Jesus. 29 And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.
