          Luke 20:41-47

41 Then Jesus asked them  a question. “Why is it,” he asked, “that the Messiah is said to be the son of David? 42 For David himself wrote - in the book of Psalms - “The LORD said to my Lord, ‘Sit in the place of honor at my right hand 43 until I make your enemies a footstool under your feet.’” [Until I humble your enemies.] 44 “David calls him ‘Lord.’ How then can he be his son?” [He is telling the Pharisees that Messiah is born in the lineage of (king) David.] 45 While all the people were listening, Jesus said to his disciples, 46 “Beware of the teachers and scribes, they like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets. 47 Yet they shamelessly cheat widows out of their property and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater [perissos - abundant, more] judgement.

1 - My friends, you are spiritual. So if someone is trapped in sin, you should gently lead that person back to the right path. But watch out, and don't be tempted yourself. 2 Share each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3 If you think you are better than others [“if you think you are something when you aren’t”] you are wrong. 4 Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, without comparing yourself to someone else. 5 We each must carry our own load. 6 Those who are taught the word of God should provide for their teachers, sharing all good things with them. 7 We cannot fool God, we will always harvest what we plant. 8 If you follow your (self-first) selfish desires, you will gather a basket of destruction [phthora - destruction, corruption, decay] but if you sow to/follow the Spirit, from the Spirit/Presence of God, you will reap Life/Good things.
