06-16 - From Heb-3 Lk-1

N.Testament & Prophecy Advanced CU Study, verses paraphrased  [ ] references { } thots

Hebrews 3:1-6  Luke 1:1-25

            ☀️ A.M. Hebrews 3:1-6

1 - And so, dear brothers and sisters who belong to God and who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus. He is God’s messenger to us, and our High Priest. 2 He was faithful to the one who appointed him, like Moses was faithful in all of God's household.  {Moses chizeled the ten society preservative “commandments” on stone, and wrote the historical first five books of the Bible, likely on leather.}

     3 But Jesus has been counted worthy of much more glory than Moses. Like the glory of the builder of a house, has more honor than the house he builds.

     4 For every house is built by someone! But the builder of all things is God. 5 Now Moses was faithful in all God's house as a servant, to testify of the things that were spoken to him, 6 but Christ is faithful over God's house as a son. [A firstborn Son.] And - we - are his house, if indeed we hold fast to our confidence and joyful hope [elpis - (our joyful) expectation, trust, confidence].

            πŸŒ™ P.M. Luke 1:1-25

[The gospel account written by Luke, a Greek doctor who met Paul during Paul’s second missionary journey.]

     Chapter 1, verse 1 - Inasmuch as many have undertaken to write an account of the things that have occurred among us, 2 and just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and heralds of the message, 3 it seemed good to me also, having followed all these things closely for some time now, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so you may know for certain, concerning the things you’ve been taught. {This is one of my favorite paragraphs of the Bible.πŸ€“}

     5 It was in the days of Herod, king of Judea {“the Great” Rev.12:4; ch.12 one of 3 tellings of the rev. vision, vs.17 w/mt.23:39}. There was a priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. His wife was from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. 6 They were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in the commandments and statutes of the LORD. 7 But they had no child. Elizabeth was barren, and both of them were now advanced in years.

     8 And while he was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty, 9 according to the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the LORD to burn incense.

     10 And the people were praying outside (in the courts around the temple, especially in the court of the women) at the hour of incense and prayer.

     11 And there appeared to Zechariah an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. 12 Which frightened him. 13 But the angel said, “Don’t be afraid. For your prayer has been heard, Zechariah. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14 You will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, 15 for he will be great before the LORD. He must not drink wine or strong drink, for he will be filled with the Holy Spirit(/Presence of God) even from his mother's womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the LORD their God, 17 for he will go forth before him, and in the spirit and power of Elijah {in God’s Spirit/Presence} to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just. To make ready for the LORD a people prepared.” {For Messiah/sent, anointed one, aka King, deliverer, savior.}

     18 And Zechariah said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I’m an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.”

     19 And the angel said, “I’m Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news. 20 Now you’ll be silent, unable to speak, until these things take place, because you didn’t believe my words {and spoke, and might again?} which will be fulfilled in its allotted time.”

     21 The people were outside waiting, and were wondering about Zechariah’s delay in the temple. 22 When he came out, he was unable to say anything, and they realized he had seen a vision. He made signs to them but remained mute. 23 And when his time of service was ended, he went home.

     24 And after these days his wife Elizabeth conceived, and for five months she kept herself isolated, saying, 25 “Thus the Lord has done for me in the days when he looked upon me, to take away my reproach {embarrassment, feeling shamed} among the people.”

N.Testament & Prophecy Advanced CU Study, verses paraphrased  [ ] references { } thots

 • 1 Peter 3:7-14  John 14:12-21

            ☀️ A.M. 1 Peter 3:7-14

7 - ..And husbands, live with your wives, not forgetting {or taking advantage because} she is physically weaker. Keep in mind that she is a joint heir with you to the grace of life, lest your prayers be hindered.

     8 Finally, all of you, hold onto unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, tender hearts, and humble spirits. 9 Don’t repay abuse for abuse nor insult for insult. But on the contrary! Bless. For to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.

     10 For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let them keep their tongue from evil and their lips from speaking guile! 11 Let them turn away from evil and do good. Let them seek peace - and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayers. But the countenance of the Lord is against those who DO evil.” {..If we don’t seek peace, we do evil?}

     13 Now who is there to harm you if you’re zealous for what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them. Nor be troubled.

            πŸŒ™ P.M. John 14:12-21

Jesus, to his disciples, 12 - “Truly, I tell you, whoever believes in me will also do the works I do. And greater works than these they’ll do, because I’m going to the Father.” {Greater works, further reach, and don’t forget how wide a reach during his long second advent.}

     13 “Whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so - the Father may be glorified - in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name [onomo - name, reputation, cause] I will do it.

     15 If you love me, you’ll keep my commandments/instructions/sayings. 16 And I’ll ask the Father, and he’ll give you another help [parΓ‘klΔ“tos - from parΓ‘ - from close-beside, and kaléō - make the call, properly, a legal advocate who makes the right judgment-call because close enough to the situation, someone giving evidence that stands up in court] to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit {Presence (with us)} of Truth {the Father, who is Life}, whom the world can’t receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. {Father and Son are so close both administer God’s Spirit/Presence, same as will saturate and “seal” all creation and humanity.}

     18 “I won’t leave you as orphans, but will come to you.” {At the end of that age, at the coming Pentecost, and later, as fully present at the culmination of history, this unavoidable, all important contrast, a slow gehenna crucible, entropy/imperfection.}

     19 “Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you’ll see me. Because I live, you’ll live also. 20 In that day you’ll know that I’m in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. 21 Whoever has my commandments, and keeps them, are those who love me. And those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and I will {continue to} make myself known to them.”

02-26 - Ro-13 Jn-6,7

N.Testament & Prophecy Advanced CU Study, verses paraphrased [ ] references { } thots

 • Romans 13:9-14  John 6:52-7:1 and  ACTS 17:15-34

           ☀️ Romans 13:9-14

9 - The commandments, “Don’t commit adultery, don’t murder, don’t steal, don’t covet,” and any other commandment, is summed up in this — “Love your neighbor {fellow person} as yourself.” 10 Love does no wrong to another. Therefore - love is the fulfilling of the law.

     11 And you know the day, that it’s late, and an hour to wake from sleep. For we’re nearer now to salvation than when we first believed! {At the Lord’s return, those who are his, dead and alive, will “put on perfection and {thus} immortality”, Heb.11:40. No more entropy toward death.}

     12 The night is far spent! And a new day is at hand. {Both spiritually speaking, aNd, literally, as 70 CE was not far off, and a new spiritual age, the years of our Lord, AD. was beginning, Rev.6:1-2.}

     So then! Let us cast off all works of darkness, and “put on” the armor of Light. 13 Let us walk properly as in daylight, and not in {pagan rites of} orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. {Not in accusation, slander, division.} 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision to gratify the flesh {the lower selfish and contrary nature}. {We, the world and its fashions and allures can put on sheep’s clothing? And some can even believe their own masquerade.. Others can be up to no good. It’s why God prophesied to Eve, the man/stronger would rule woman (for quite some time and still in some places and cases). In this ‘dimension’ called “Imperfect”.. well, history is a very sad commentary to it. We should always pray for peace.. Everywhere. And be peacemakers because love is the fruit God loves! And division is the siren call to armageddons, large and small? Is.24:20, Rev.10:4; Ps.91,46,23, Rev.7:15-17.}

            πŸŒ™ John 6:52-7:1

52 - The people were questioning and saying to one another, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat!” 53 So Jesus said, “Truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you!” {A spiritual, yet very real partaking, yet there were ancient abysmal practices of humanity, especially during the hands off, pre-flood age?}

     54 “Whoever feeds on my flesh (Ps.1) and drinks my blood/life has enduring life, and I will raise them up on the last day. 55 For this is true food, and true drink. [“I am the vine, you are the branches” ..that will bear fruit if succored and “abiding on the vine”, the true vine.] 56 “Whoever feeds on me and drinks of me, abides in me, and I in them.

     57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, this means whoever feeds upon me, will also live. 58 For this is the bread {for you} come down from heaven, not like the bread (manna) the fathers ate” (during wandering years in the desert under Moses) “and later they died. But whoever feeds on this bread, will live into the age [aion].” 59 Jesus said these things in the synagogue, as he taught at Capernaum.

     60 But when many heard it, they said, “This is a hard saying! Who can bear it?” 61 But Jesus, knowing it, said, “Do you take offense at this? 62 Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?

     63 It’s the Spirit{/Presence of God} that GIVES life. The flesh {and relying on self?} is no help at all. The words that I’m speaking to you are spirit and Life. 64 But there are some of you who don’t believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who would believe and who wouldn’t, and knew who would betray him.

     65 And he said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father grants it.” 66 After this many turned back and no longer walked with him. {Interesting #’s Jn.6:66.}

     67 Jesus asked the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” 68 Simon Peter said, “Lord, to whom would we go?! You have the words of enduring life! 69 We believe, and we know, that you are the Holy One of God.”

     70 Jesus said, “Did I not choose you twelve, yet one of you is a devil?” 71 He was speaking of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, though one of the twelve, was going to betray him.

     7 After this Jesus went about in Galilee, and not in Judea, because the leaders were seeking how they might have him killed.

10-02 - LUKE 18 18-34

paraphrased ‘enter the story’

  πŸ•Š️reading & study πŸ•Š️

18 - And a leader came by who asked Jesus, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit enduring life?” 19 Jesus answered, “Why do you call me good? No one’s good but God alone. 20 You know the commandments, ‘don’t commit adultery, don’t murder, don’t steal, don’t bear false witness, honor your father and mother.’” 21 And the man said, “I’ve kept all these from my youth!” 22 After hearing this, Jesus said, “Yet you lack one thing. Sell all you have, and distribute to the poor, and you’ll have treasure in heaven, and come, follow me.” 23 Then the man became sad, for he was very wealthy.

     24 After this, Jesus said, “How difficult it is for those who have riches, to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 Those who heard it, said, “Then who can be saved!?” 27 And he said, “What is impossible to man, is possible with God.”

     28 Then Peter said, “We have left our homes to follow you.” 29 And Jesus said, “Truly, I tell you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers, sisters, parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, 30 who will not receive many times more - in this time - and in the age to come, enduring life.”

     31 Then going on with the twelve, he said to them, “We’re going up to Jerusalem, and everything that’s written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be done. 32 He will be delivered over to the nations, and be mocked, and shamefully treated, and spit upon. 33 And after they flog him, they will kill him. And the third day he will rise.” 34 But they didn’t understand any of it, it was hidden from them. They didn’t understand what he was saying.

   09/04 - GospeL Verses

17 - Later, as he set out and was walking along, a man ran up, knelt before him and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit the enduring life?” [AiΓ³nios - ages long (life).] (There’s not really a word for ‘forever’ in the Greek.. or the Old Testament Hebrew. But logically, true Life, being God himself, is, of course, enduring life.)

     18 And Jesus answered the man, “Why do you call me good! No one is good except God. 19 As you know the commandments,  ‘don’t murder, don’t commit adultery, don’t steal, don’t bear false witness, don’t defraud, and honor your father and mother.’” (And wouldn’t you know it, there were Pharisee laws on the books that allowed you to put money in trusts, supposedly for the temple, instead of benefitting your elderly parents.) 20 And the man exclaimed, “Teacher! I have kept all these from my youth!” 21 And Jesus, with affection said, “(I see that) You lack one thing! Go and sell all you have, and give to the poor. You will have treasure in heaven. And come, follow me.” 22 Saddened, the man went away sorrowful, for he had great wealth.

     23 And Jesus told his disciples, “How difficult it is for those who have great possessions to enter the kingdom of God!” 24 And the disciples were amazed and wondered. But Jesus explained, “Children, how difficult it is to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a wealthy person to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 And they were surprised. “Then who” they said, “can be saved?!” 27 Jesus said, “With man it’s impossible, but with God, everything is possible.”

GospeL Verses ~ Mark 9:25-32

25 - And when Jesus saw that a crowd was gathering, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying, “Spirit of muteness and deafness, I command you, come out of him and do not enter him again.” 26 Then after crying out and convulsing him, it came out, and the boy lay there like a corpse, so that most of them said, “He is dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he stood up.

     28 Later when he had gone into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” 29 He answered, “This kind can’t be driven out except by prayer.”

     30 They went on from there, passing through Galilee. And he didn’t want anyone to know, 31 for he was telling his disciples, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him. And when he is killed, after three days he will rise.” 32 But they didn’t understand what he meant, and were afraid to ask him.

4 -  I rejoiced greatly to find some of your children walking in the truth, according as we are commanded by the Father. 5 And now I ask you, dear lady (believing group) - not as though I were writing you a new commandment [entolΓ© - an injunction, order, command] - but the one we have had from the beginning > that we love one another. 6 And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments [entolΓ© - an injunction, order, command] (instruction) this is the command/instruction, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it. 7 For - many deceivers - have gone out into the world, those who deny the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is a deceiver and antichrist. 8 Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward! 9 Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in > the teaching of Christ - does not have God. Whoever abides in - Christ’s - teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring THIS teaching, do not receive them or celebrate their message, 11 for whoever does, takes part in their wickedness.

     12 Though I have much to write to you, I would rather not use paper and ink. Instead I hope to come to you and talk face to face, so that our joy may be complete.

      13 The children of your elect sister greet you.

GospeL Verses ~ John 6:52-7:1

52 - The Jews then argued among theirselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” (His mortal life.) 53 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. (πŸ“œπŸž+πŸ·πŸ•Š️) 54 Whoever feeds on my flesh (life/logos) and drinks my blood (the Spirit/Presence of God) has unfading life, and I will raise (resurrect) them on the last day. 55 For my flesh is food that is true, and my blood is the drink that is true. 56 Whoever feeds and drinks of it abides in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of Him, so too, whoever feeds [trΓ³gΓ³ - chews] upon me (chews it over! And digests) he also will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. It’s not like the bread [manna] the fathers ate, and later died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever [“to the age/aion” (probably into the age? “eis” - to or into (“the” millennium?)]. 59 Jesus said these things in the synagogue, as he was teaching at Capernaum. 60 And when many who had been following him heard it, they said, “This is a hard teaching, who can understand it?” 61 But Jesus, knowing in himself that his followers were complaining, said to them, “Do you take offense at this? 62 Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? 63 It’s the Spirit who gives life. The flesh is no help at all. But the words that I’ve spoken to you are spirit and life. 64 But there are some of you who don’t believe.” For he knew from the beginning who those were who didn’t believe (were not persuaded) [pisteuΓ³ - “believe, entrust, from pΓstis - faith, derived from peΓthō - persuade, be persuaded, the believing from God's inbirthing of faith”] and who it was who would betray him. 65 And he said, “This is why I said no one can come to me unless it’s granted to them by the Father.”

     66 After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. 67 So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, where would we go? You have the words of unfading life, 69 and we have believed, [entrusted, been persuaded] and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” 70 Jesus answered, “Did I not choose you twelve? And yet one of you is a devil?” 71 He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, one of the twelve, for he was going to betray him.

7 After this Jesus went about in Galilee. He would not go about in Judea, because the leaders were seeking to (silence and) kill him.

     (In the Order Believed Written)

                  ~ Romans 13:9-14 ~

9 - For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not covet,” and any other commandment, is summed up in this - “You shall love your neighbor [plΓ©sion (reminds me of plebe, which most of us are?) - near, neighboring; the original in the Old Testament is rea - friend, companion, fellow] (love) as yourself.” 10 For love does no wrong to a fellow person! Therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

11 Besides, you know the hour, that it’s time to wake from sleep. For deliverance is nearer to us now than when we first trusted. 12 The night is far gone, the day is at hand! So then let us cast off the workings of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus, and make no provision for the unlawful of self, to gratify its desires.
