Hebrews 5:10-14  Matthew 2:1-12 and ACTS 4:1-22 separately

             ☀️ A.M. Hebrews 5:10-14

10 - So Jesus being designated and declared by God, a high priest after the order of Melchizedek, 11 about this we have much to say, which is hard to explain, since you’ve become dull of hearing! {Melchizedek seeming to be “a priest forever” confirms Jesus’ pre-existence with God. He being “forever first” (proto) and onLy straight out from God one.}

     12 By this time you ought to be teachers! But you need someone to teach you again the primary, basic and beginning principles of the message of God. You still need milk, and not solid food.

     13 Everyone living on milk lacks skill in the message of righteousness and justice [dikaiosuné - righteousness, justice] since they are still but a child.

     14 But solid food is for the mature. For those having sharpened their powers of discernment, by the constant practice of distinguishing good from evil.

     [Good & evil - KALOS - good, beautiful, noble, excellent, honest, honorable, beneficial, tends toward life; and KAKOS - bad, evil, wicked, harmful, noisome, injurious; from root kakía - inner malice,  compromised, as in the "rot is already in the wood"]. {Imperfection/entropy/decay/corruption.. hamartia - “missing the mark” translated sin. Imperfect is an abyss of potential (Rev.9:2). God is Life, and “is Perfect”. Perfect is the final Word of everything. But there’s the matter of at least some power of choice is included in being able to think and reason. God as Life lives through and experiences all things that occur.. and endowed thinking and reasoning to man and angel anyway.. Engineered it so the drama is a one and done.

1 - After Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of king Herod the Great, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is he who’s been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and we’ve come to worship him.”

     3 Now when Herod (a Hebrew/Jew) heard this, he was vexed, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 So assembling the leaders of the people, the chief priests and scribes, he questioned them where the Christ was prophesied to be born. 5 They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet, 6 ‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah. For from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’”

     7 Then Herod secretly having called the wise men inquired of them what time the star had appeared. 8 And he sent them on to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child, and when you’ve found him, bring me word, so I too may come and worship him.”

     9 After this, the wise men {astronomer, astrologers} went on their way. And behold, the star they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. 10 And when they saw it, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. 11 And going inside, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they knelt and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold, frankincense and myrrh. 12 And then warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way.

            ☀️ Romans 6:8-16

8 - Now if we (Paul and all believers) have died with Christ (in baptism, the old, prone to error self reckoned as passed away) then we believe that we will also live with him. 9 We know that Christ, being raised from out of death, never dies again. Death no more having dominion over him. 10 That for which he died, sin [hamartia - missing the mark] he died, once for all. And the life of him is to and of God. 11 So you also, consider yourselves dead to sin, and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

     12 Therefore don’t let sin rose over you, to make you obey its inordinate passions. 13 Don’t use your body to sin. But present yourself to God as one who has been brought from death into life. And present your whole self to God as an instrument for righteousness. 14 For sin shall have no dominion over you, for you are not under law {which doesn’t work/transform} but under grace {which does work and transforms, nurtures, strengthens, and enables}.

     15 What then? Are we to sin because we’re not under law but under grace? Of course not! 16 You yourselves know, whatever we obey, present ourselves as obedient to, we are a slave to, whether a slave to sin [hamartia - missing the mark”] {entropy} which leads to death {lack of Life/blessing} or to obedience {of “the way/new and living way”} which leads to righteousness [dikaiosuné - righteousness, righteous character, justice, equity]. {Dikaiosuné - right character (is by grace, and) is what makes for justice and equity.}

            🌙 Matthew 11:1-10

1 - When Jesus had instructed his twelve disciples (and sent them out) he went on from there to teach and preach in nearby cities.

     2 Now when John heard in prison about the works of Jesus, he sent word by his disciples 3 to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come? (The Christ/Messiah.) Or shall we look for another?” 4 And Jesus answered, “Go and tell John what you hear and see, 5 the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the good news preached to them. 6 And blessed is the one who doesn’t fall away from me.” {Fall away due to persecutions even if severe.}

     7 And as they were going away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? 8 No? What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? You can find those who wear soft clothing in kings' houses. 9 What then? Did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes! I tell you, and he is more than a prophet! 10 This is he of whom it is written (said by Father to Son) ‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’”

1 - Paul, Silas, and Timothy,

To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus!

     3 We are bound always to give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters, as is right! For your faith continues to grow. And the love you have for one another is abundant and increasing. 4 And so we have boasted about you in the churches of God! We have boasted about your faith and steadfastness during all your persecutions and troubles, which you are patiently enduring. 5 To us, this is evidence that you’re worthy of the kingdom of God. Or you wouldn’t be suffering because of it! 6 And indeed God considers it just to repay with troubles those who trouble you {reaping as sowing}. 7 And you yourselves will rest with us in the revelation and revealing of the Lord Jesus from heaven, with his mighty angels 8 — in flaming fire, giving retribution to those not knowing God and not obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus {in that day}. 9 On that day they will suffer the penalty [diké - justice] of aionion (eonian - of the eon/age) doom and ruin, separated from the presence of the Lord and the glory of his might, (Mt.25:10 is to?) 10 wheN he comes to be glorified in his followers, and to be marveled at among all who have believed. {The bound to be(?) fiery doom and ruin, is earthly, not an afterlife of fiery immortal death.} 11 And it’s to this end we always pray for you. That our God may make you worthy of his calling, and may complete his good work of faith in you, by HiS power, 12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him {one day, where, and when, the Mt.25:10 door goes to} according to the grace of our God and of the Lord Jesus.

Today’s GospeL Verses ~ Luke 15:11-20

11 - Jesus said, “There was a man who had two sons. 12 The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.’ So he divided his property between them. 13 And not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered everything in reckless living. 14 And when he had spent all, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed the pigs. 16 And it came about that he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, but no one gave him a thing. 17 Then he came to himself and said, ‘How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough food? And here I perish with hunger! 18 I will go back to my father, and I’ll say to him, ‘Father, I’ve sinned against heaven and before you, 19 and I’m no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.’ 20 And he went home to his father. And then while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. His heart swelled, and he ran and embraced his son and kissed him!” (Where’s the angry Father who has to be appeased by sacrifice? Perhaps we’ve misread the atonement. Atonement it is! But what is really appeased? For all. Strong enough for all. Cannot miss the mark.)

11 - Therefore God sends [pempó - send, transmit, permit to go, put forth - occurred seventy nine times, never translated permitted, Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance includes “thrust in”] (let happen(?) a strong delusion, that they would believe what is false. (Is there a stronger delusion than creation just happened?) 12 In order for judgment of the not believing the truth, but thought well of the unrighteousness/injustice [adikia - injustice, unrighteousness, from A - not, and dike - justice, rightness (thought well of the false, the not right)].

     13 We however should always give thanks to God for you, brethren, beloved by the Lord, who has chosen you from the beginning [arché - beginning, origin] for salvation by sanctification of the Spirit(/Presence of God) and belief in the truth. 14 To this he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus.

     15 So then, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter. 16 And may our Lord Jesus himself, and God our Father, who is loving us and giving us enduring comfort and the good hope [elpis - expectation] by grace. 17 May he comfort your hearts and make them steadfast in every good work and word.

     3 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run its course speedily and be honored, as has happened among you. 2 And that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one. 4 And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things we have instructed. 5 And may the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ.

The Pharisees went out and were plotting how they might kill Jesus. 15 Aware of this, Jesus went away from there, and a large crowd followed after him, and he healed everyone who was ill among them. 16 He told them not to tell others about him. 17 This fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah - 18 “Here is my servant I have chosen, the one I love, and in whom I delight. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. 19 He won’t quarrel nor cry out, and they will not hear his voice in the streets. 20 He will not break a crushed reed and he will not snuff out a barely lit wick, but will lead justice to victory. 21 In his name the nations will put their hope [elpizo - expectation].” (In him, the people will put their hope and their expectation.)

                  ~ Romans 8:17-25 ~

17 - Now if we are God’s children, then we are his heirs, and we are co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings (troubles, persecutions, insults, and some much more) in order that we may also share in his glory. (Note, “sharing his glory” - able to heal, etc, has to be after entering the ‘door’ into “the” millennium, Mt.25:1-13, and before “behold! I make all new”. 18 I (Paul) consider that our present sufferings and troubles are not at all comparable with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19 For the creation waits in eager anticipation for the coming to light of the children of God. 20 For the creation (too) was subjected to futility, corruption, fading, not by its own will, but by the choice of the one who subjected it, in expectation 21 — that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay — and brought into the freedom [eleutheria - liberty, freedom] and glory [doxa - praise, honor, glory] of the children of God. 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as if in the pains of childbirth from the beginning right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit (“love, joy, peace” etc.) groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies [apolutrósis - a release effected by payment of ransom]. 24 Indeed it is in this expectation that we are saved. But expectation that is seen is not expectation at all. Because who is expecting what has already arrived? 25 But if we expect what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

     1:1 The words of Amos, a shepherd —the vision he saw concerning Israel two years before the earthquake..

Damascus, Gaza, Tyre, Edom, Ammon, Moab …and Judah..

   ..sold the innocent for silver .. you trample on the heads of the poor as on the dust of the ground and deny justice to the oppressed.. 2:14 The swift will not escape, the strong will not muster their strength, and the warrior will not save his life. 15 The archer will not stand his ground, the fleet-footed soldier will not get away, and the horseman will not save his life. 16 Even the bravest warriors will flee.. 3:6 When a trumpet sounds.. 7 Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets. ..11 An enemy will overrun your land, pull down your strongholds and plunder your fortresses ..15 the mansions will be demolished..

    4:1 .. who oppress the poor and crush the needy.. 6 lack of bread in every town.. 11 yet you have not returned to me, declares the Lord. 12 ..prepare to meet your God. 13 He who forms the mountains,�    who creates the wind,�    and who reveals his thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn to darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth — the Lord God Almighty is his name.

5:9  With a blinding flash he destroys the stronghold and brings the fortified city to ruin..

11 You levy a straw tax on the poor and impose a tax on their grain. Therefore, though you have built stone mansions, you will not live in them; though you have planted lush vineyards, you will not drink their wine. 12 ..There are those who oppress the innocent and take bribes and deprive the poor of justice in the courts. 13  Therefore the prudent keep quiet in such times, for the times are evil. 15 Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. Perhaps the Lord God Almighty will have mercy..

    6:11 ..he will smash the great house into pieces and the small house into bits. 14 Amos answered Amaziah, “I was neither a prophet nor the son of a prophet, but I was a shepherd, and I also took care of sycamore-fig trees. 15 But the Lord took me from tending the flock and said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’ 16 Now then, hear the word of the Lord. You say, ‘Do not prophesy.. and stop preaching against the descendants of Isaac.’

17 Therefore this is what the Lord says, ‘Israel will surely go into exile, away from their native land’..”

     8:1 This is what the Sovereign Lord showed me, a basket of ripe fruit. 2 “What do you see, Amos?” he asked. “A basket of ripe fruit,” I answered. 8 Will not the land tremble for this, and all who live in it mourn? .. 9 “In that day,” declares the Sovereign Lord,

“I will make the sun go down at noon and darken the earth in broad daylight. 11 “The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “when I will send a famine through the land — not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord. 12 People will stagger..

     9:11 “In that day I will restore David’s fallen shelter — I will repair its broken walls and its ruins — and will rebuild it as it used to be.. 13 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when the reaper will be overtaken by the plowman and the planter by the one treading grapes. New wine will drip from the mountains and flow from all the hills, 14 and I will bring my people Israel back from exile. (We are all Israel, when the scales fall from our eyes and we believe, we are “grafted into Israel” and Israel and Jerusalem will be God’s capitol.) They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. 15 I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them..”
