Mark 14:1-9

 πŸƒπŸ•Š️11/04 - GospeL Verses πŸƒπŸ•Š️

       By Necessity Paraphrased

1 - And now it was two days before the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread [two days in a row]. And the leaders, the chief priests and scribes were seeking how to arrest him on the sly and have him killed. 2 But they were thinking, ‘not during the feast, in case there be an uproar from the people’.

3 Meanwhile Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the (ex)leper, as he was reclining at table. And a woman came in with an alabaster flask of ointment of pure nard, very costly, and she broke it and poured it over his head. [Anointing of a king, Christos - “the anointed one”.] 4 There were some who were indignant and thought to theirselves, ‘why was this fine ointment wasted like that? 5 It could at least have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor.” And so  some were scolding her. 6 But Jesus said, “Don’t bother her. Why are you troubling her? She has done a beautiful thing. 7 For you always have the poor with you. And whenever you want, you can do good for them. But you’ll not always have me. 8 She has done what she can. She has anointed me beforehand for burial. 9 And truly, I tell you, what she has done, wherever the gospel is proclaimed in all the world, will be told of her.”
