02-28 - Ro-14 Mt-16

N.Testament & Prophecy Advanced CU Study, verses paraphrased [ ] references { } thots

 • Romans 14:8-23  Matthew 16:1-12

           ☀️ Romans 14:8-23

8 - For if we live, we live unto the Lord, and if we die, we die unto the Lord. So! Whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's! 9 It’s for this reason Christ died, and then lived again! That he might - be Lord - of both the living and the dead.

     10 So why then, would we pass judgment on our brother or sister? Or you, why do you despise your fellow believer? We will all stand before the judgment/justice seat of God. [Seat - béma - a raised platform for public speaking, from basis and bainō - to step, ascend, properly, a platform to which someone walks up to, to receive judgment or reward.]

     11 For it’s written, “As I live, says the LORD, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue confess [exomologeó - confess, acknowledge, give thanks] to God.”

     12 So each one of us will give an account of ourself to God. 13 So let us not pass judgment on one another, but rather decide, never, to put a stumbling block or a hindrance in the way of a brother or sister. 14 I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it’s unclean. (Still talking about foods.) 15 For if your brother or sister is grieved by what you eat, you’re no longer walking in love. Don’t destroy the one for whom Christ died, because of your preference of what to eat or not eat.

     16 And don’t let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God isn’t a matter of what we eat and drink. It’s about righteousness, and peace and joy, in the Holy Spirit{/Presence of God}.

     18 Whoever serves Christ is acceptable to God. And should be by others as well. {No person nor group is perfect until the last day” Heb.11:40.}

     19 So then, let us pursue what makes for peace, and for mutual building up and encouragement. {Making solid and stable.} 20 Don’t, for the sake of food destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what they approve. {Still talking about foods.} 21 It’s good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother or sister to stumble. 22 The faith you have about it, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment upon theirself for what they give thanks for! 23 But if they have doubts they will come under guilt if they eat, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever isn’t of faith is sin [hamartia - misses the mark].

            🌙 Matthew 16:1-12

1 - The leaders, the Pharisees and Sadducees, came to test Jesus. They asked him to show them a sign from heaven. 2 He answered them, “When it’s evening, you say, ‘It’ll be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ 3 And then in the morning you say, ‘The sky is red and threatening, it will be stormy today.’

     You know how to read the signs of the sky, but you don’t see the signs of your own day. 4 An unfaithful and trying generation seeks for a sign. But the only sign that will be given to it, is the sign of Jonah.” {I think healings were supposed to be shared with the priests.. but these priests/leaders had long ago(?) traded their faith in Yhwh and spirituality/worship for politics, their seats of power, and keeping them during Roman occupation. Politics seems able to bring out the worst in human nature. Though it talks a good talk/puts on sheep’s clothing (of course) but the wolf still shines through.. Especially if all power is attained! Or, on the way there.. Rev.17:10 - “there are seven kings (kingdoms, world empires). Five (ancient?) have fallen, one is - Rome - and the other (global) has not yet come. And when he [autos - he, she, it, they, them..] comes, he [autos] must continue a short time.”}

     5 When the disciples reached the other side of the lake (Galilee) they realized they had forgotten to bring any bread. 6 And right then, Jesus said, “Watch out, and beware the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” {I guess they would do anything for the sake of their power and standing/authority.}

     7 So {because he said leaven} the disciples began discussing among themselves, saying, “We forgot to bring bread.” 8 But Jesus, was aware of it, and said, “Oh ye of little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves that you have no bread? 9 Do you not yet see? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets left over you gathered? (12 baskets). 10 Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you gathered? (7)

     11 How do you not understand that I’m not talking about bread? ..Beware the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” 12 Then they understood he didn’t tell them to beware the leaven of bread, but the teaching {and example} of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
