02-19 - Ro-11 Mt-14

πŸ—️s New Testament & Bible prophecy study, verses paraphrased [ ] references { } thots

 • Romans 11:1-6  Matthew 14:15-21 and ACTS 17:1-14 separately

           ☀️ Romans 11:1-6

{A little Greek word, “telos, tel” root of telescope, I read years ago in a commentary, was a perfect illustration of how prophecy is fulfilled. Tel, telos is interpreted “end” as in the end, but it more closely means the “end-aim”. And prophecy, like a telescope is fulfilled from smaller scope to full scope at the end-aim of it. Like Israel “all we like sheep have gone astray” as smaller scope, to all humanity, full scope. Prophecy is the same, from ‘smaller’ scope to full scope at the culmination of this unavoidable one and done. Same with the advents!}

1 - I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! For I myself (Paul) am an Israelite. A descendant of Abraham and a member of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God has not rejected his people which he foreknew {would happen?} Do you know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals to God about Israel? 3 “Lord, they have killed your prophets! They have demolished your altars! And only I am left! And they seek my life.” 4 But what is God's reply? “I have kept for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” 5 So too, at the present time there’s a remnant, chosen by grace. 6 But if it’s by grace, it’s no longer on the basis of self effort, otherwise grace wouldn’t be grace.

            πŸŒ™ Matthew 14:15-21

(This reading schedule is the four gospels into two six month readings, so there is sometimes repetition.) 15 - As evening was approaching, the disciples came to Jesus and said, “This is a lonely place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages to buy food.”

     16 Jesus said, “They don’t need to go. You can give them something to eat.” 17 They answered, “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish.” 18 “Bring them to me,” Jesus said. 19 He had the people sit down on the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two fish, looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves, and gave the bread and fish to the disciples, and the disciples passed it out to the people. 20 And they all ate and were satisfied. The disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21 The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.
