 • Romans 11:12-24  Matthew 14:22-36

           ☀️ Romans 11:12-24

12 - Now if Israel’s rejecting the message means riches for the world, and if their failure means riches for the nations, think how much greater the blessing, when they do accept the message! 13 Now I’m speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I’m an apostle to the Gentiles, the nations, I magnify my ministry {service} 14 to hopefully make my countrymen jealous, and so save some of them.

     15 But if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their return mean but life from the dead? {Christ’s return/1st Resurrection! Mt.23:39.} 16 If the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, so is all the dough. And if the root of the tree is holy, so are the branches. {Mt.13:33, key word 3 with 1Cor.15:22-28, three harvests.}

     17 But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree, 18 don’t be arrogant toward the natural branches.

     If you are, remember it’s not you who support the root, but it’s the root that supports you! 19 Or you might say, “Branches were broken off to make room for me.” 20 That’s actually true. But they were broken off because of their unbelief, and you stand fast through your faith. But don’t become proud, 21 for if God didn’t spare the natural branches, then neither will he spare you.

     22 Note then the kindness and severity of God. Severity toward those who’ve fallen off, but God's kindness to you, provided you continue in that kindness. {Evidence would be kindness as a fruit?} Or otherwise you too will be cut off {estranged}.

     23 And even they, if they don’t continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God iS able to graft them in again. {Logically, root word logos, no one can be lost (estranged) forever.} 24 And if you, from a wild olive tree, was grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more, will the natural branches be grafted back into their own olive tree!

            πŸŒ™ Matthew 14:22-36

(Matthew’s account.) 22 - Jesus had the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. 23 And after he sent the crowds home, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. And evening came, and he was there alone.

     24 It was the fourth watch of the night,  and the boat by now was a long way off from land. A wind had risen against them, and the boat was being beaten and tossed about by the waves.  25 Then Jesus came to them, walking on the water. 26 But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea toward them, they were terrified! And they cried out in fear, “It’s a ghost!” 27 But Jesus said, “Take heart! It is I! Don’t be afraid!”

    28 And Peter said, “Lord, if it’s you, tell me to come to you on the water.” 29 So Jesus said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and he walked on the water toward Jesus. 30 But then he looked around at the wind, and at the waves, and he started to sink! And he cried out, “Lord, save me!”

     31 So Jesus reached out his hand and took hold of him, “Oh ye of little faith” he said, “why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, all was quiet, for the wind had stopped blowing. 33 Those in the boat were in awe, and said, “Truly! You are the Son of God.”

     34 And they came to land at Gennesaret. 35 And when the people of that place recognized him, they sent around to all that region and brought to him all who were sick 36 and implored that they might just touch the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched, were made well. {Is his long second advent, after all have risen “from the tombs” Jn.5:28-29, a full scope (and “perfect” mt.5:48) version of his first so brief one?}
