☀️ A.M. 1John 3:15-17
15 - Anyone who is hating, is a murderer in their heart. And you know that no murderer has the enduring life abiding in them. 16 We have the Lord’s example of love. How he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives (our own self interest) for our fellows. 17 But if someone has the world's goods and sees another person in need, yet closes their heart against them, how is God's love in them?
{This, surely(?) isn’t a call to make human institutions powerful enough to guarantee equity.. as surely that is way too much resources in too few human hands?}
π P.M. MARK 7:1-13
1 - Some Pharisees and scribes who had come from Jerusalem had gathered around him. 2 And they noticed some of his disciples ate without washing their hands first. 3 For the Pharisees and their followers when they come from the marketplaces, and before they eat, wash their hands a certain traditional way. 4 And there are many other traditions they observe, certain ways of washing cups, pots, copper vessels and dining couches.
5 So the Pharisees and scribes asked him, “Why do your disciples not do according to the tradition of the elders? And are eating with unwashed hands?” 6 And he said to them, “Isaiah prophesied of you, saying, ‘You honor me with your lips, but your heart is far from me. 7 In vain do you worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’
8 For you abandon the commandment of God and you hold to men’s traditions. {Today the world’s way is a huge draw?} 9 You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to have your own tradition! 10 For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’ and, ‘Woe to whoever neglects father or mother.’ 11 But you say, ‘If a man tells his father or his mother, “Whatever you would have gained from me is Corban (put in trust, as put aside for God) {for the Pharisees and scribes!} 12 then they don’t have to do anything for their father or mother! 13 Thus canceling the word of God by your tradition, you’ve handed down. And there are many more things like this you do!”
