            ☀️ A.M. 2 Timothy 3:8-17

8 - Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these oppose the truth, corrupted in mind and not genuine regarding the faith. 9 But they’ll not get very far, for their folly will become plain to all, as was that of Jannes and Jambres who opposed Moses. {If we’re grounded in Truth, the Logos - reasoning, truth, both the personified aNd, the written. Preferably as “inspired” by God.}

     10 You, however, have followed the teaching I’ve taught, and have seen my conduct, aim in life, faith, patience, love, and steadfastness. 11 Also my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra, persecutions I endured.

     Yet from them all, the Lord rescued me. 12 Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. 13 While evil people and impostors will go from bad to worse, both being deceived and deceiving.

     14 But as for you, continue in what you’ve learned and have firmly believed, knowing those from whom you learned it. {Originally from eyewitnesses.} 15 And how from childhood you’ve been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out (inspired) by God and profitable for teaching, for convincing, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 so the person of God may be complete, and ready and able for every good work.

50 - When Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit, 51 right then, the (thick, cloth and metal weaved) curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart, 52 and tombs also were opened. And, after his resurrection, many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, 53 and came out of the tombs and went into the holy city and appeared to many.

    54 When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over the crucifixion, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with wonder and said, “This truly was the Son of God!”

     55 There were also many women there, looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, and helped him with their resources, 56 among whom were Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James (called lesser) and his brother Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee (John and James).

     57 And then when evening was soon beginning, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus. 58 He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. And Pilate ordered it to be given over to him.

     59 And so he took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud 60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut in the rock. And he rolled a great stone over the entrance of the tomb and went away.  {They wanted him in the tomb by the sun’s full setting, as sunset began the first Sabbath/no work day of Spring holy week, next Sabbath would be the regular weekly Sabbath, then last day of Unleavened Bread would be a Sabbath/no work day as well, with also, three preparation days for the Sabbaths.} 61 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were there, sitting nearby.

Why Crucifixion?

 🍃 I was in the mountains, on a beautiful day. I’d been reading up on some world faiths and astrology (what a science!) On that day, it seemed like a thought drifted across the very blue sky, and hit me in the head. (It was 1979.) Here’s what it said, “You’ve been learning about forces at work in the universe, what about the force that created the universe? And what if that force has consciousness?”

     It was like a light was turned on, I said “God!” And felt a presence it seemed like I had always known. A warm, wonderful presence.

     But why the sufferings of Jesus? “There’s no forgiveness/remission of sin (imperfection) without blood.” Why? I think on the deepest level - even past appeasing the human conscience - “the life is in the blood” ..God iS life. Itself. And he “is perfect” or he too would fade away. Imperfect is washed away by that Life force. God himself. So it reaches all levels. Heals all things. Everywhere. ..It’s an issue of the dis-ease running its course, versus Ant Farm. How do you create thinking beings, aNd, keep paradise/perfection intact? Immunity. Total Herd Immunity. There can only be Life, aka perfection.. oR this contrast, this entropy. THE crucible. Only crucible. Being Life, he suffers everything.

🌙 [To his disciples on the eve of his crucifixion, continued.] 18 - “If the world hates you, know that it hated first. 19 If you were of the world, the world would include you as its own. But since you’re not of the world, and I chose you out of the world, the world doesn’t like you.

     20 Remember how I said to you, ‘A servant isn’t greater than their master.’ If they” {who? ruling powers/the world} “persecuted me, they’ll persecute you. If they kept my word, they’ll keep yours. 21 But all these things they’ll do to you on account of my name [onoma - name, cause] because they don’t know the one who sent me. 22 If I hadn’t come and spoken, they wouldn’t be exposed, but now they have no cover. 23 Whoever hates me, hates my Father also. 24 If I hadn’t done among them the works that no one else has done, they wouldn’t be guilty. But now they have seen these things {all that occurred} and have hated both me and my Father. 25 But, the words written in the Law itself will be fulfilled, ‘They hated me without cause.’

     26 When the Helper comes, whom [hos, hé, ho - who, what, which, that] I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, that proceeds from the Father” {the Father’s Presence gone forth} “will bear witness about me. 27 As will you, because you’ve been with me during it all.”

     13 Whatever you ask in my name [onoma - name, authority, cause] I’ll do it, this is so the Father will be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name [authority, cause] I’ll do it.

     15 If you love me, you’ll keep my instructions. 16 And I’ll ask the Father, and he’ll give you another helper, this one to be with you to the age, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world is unable to receive, because it doesn’t see him or know him. You know him. For he is with you, and, will be in you. {The Father’s Presence.}

     18 I’m not leaving you as orphans, but I’ll come to you. 19 Yet a little while and the world will no longer see me, but you’ll see me. And because I live, you’ll live also. 20 In that day you’ll know I’m in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. 21 Whoever has my instructions and keeps them, it is they who love me. And they who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and make myself known to them.”

     {Best way to know Jesus and the Father - is to follow Jesus’ instructions? “Love God.” One rule, because when genuine, the second is also!}

(On the eve of his crucifixion..) 20 - When it was evening he reclined at table for a (last) supper with the twelve. 21 And as they were eating, he said, “Truly, I tell you, one of you will betray me.” 22 And they were very sorrowful when he said that, and they began to say to him one by one, “Is it I, Lord?”

     23 He answered them, “He who has dipped his bread in the dish with me will betray me. 24 The Son of Man goes as it’s written of him, but woe to the one who betrays him! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born.” {A cliche, Jesus knew his earthly end, and was prophesying.}

     25 Judas, who would betray him, said, “Is it I, Rabbi?” Jesus answered, “So you have said.”

     26 As they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it, broke it, passed it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat this, it is my body.” 27 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he passed it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all, of you” {including the betrayer) 28 “for this is my blood of the covenant (treaty, accord, league, agreement) which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” {Strong enough to appease eveRy conscience and psyche. Ps.40:6 - “Sacrifices are not what You want..”.} 29 “I tell you now, I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.”

16 - The soldiers led Jesus out to the court of the governor’s palace and called together the rest of their battalion. 17 Then they clothed him in a purple robe, and twisted together a crown of thorns for him to wear. 18 And putting it on his head, they saluted him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” 19 And they spit on him, striking his head with reeds and knelt down before him. 20 When they were done mocking him, they stripped him of the purple robe and put his own outer clothes back on him and led him out to be crucified/executed.

     21 On the way, they compelled a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross. [Jesus had been severely flogged, remember, and then was beaten more.] 22 And they led him to the place called Golgotha, which means Place of the Skull. {Place of the skull - he went to death, the end of entropy/imperfection, for all, a ‘ransom’ and an appeasing of even the guiltiest of consciences.}

     23 And they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he didn’t take any. 24 And they crucified him. Some were dividing his garments, casting lots to see what each should take. [Fulfilling scripture, Ps.22:18.] 25 And it was the third hour. {Hour of the daily evening, or that is, the between the evening (shadows) sacrifice? Sentenced at the hour of daily morning one?} 26 And the inscription of the charge against him read, “The King of the Jews.” [Ioudaios - from loudas - Judah or the region of Judea {yet the 12 tribes were there - via the census of Nehemiah after Cyrus king of Babylonia - which at the time once again included Assyria - said, “Let all Israel go home”. Ten northern tribes had been carried away to Assyria - their shield from the Holy Ghost/Spirit and Presence of YHVH/life having dissipated. This was in the early 700’s BCE. And then later, the southern tribes, called Judah, were carried to Babylon, in the late 500’s BCE. These were called “captivities” the Assyrian Captivity and the Babylonian captivity. One to a kingdom of war, the other to a kingdom of gold. Judah became another name for all Israel. But previously, due to civil war, the ten northern tribes were Israel, and the Southern were Judah. Each had a line of kings.}

     27 And with him, one on his left and one on his right, were two robbers also being crucified. 29 And those who passed by ridiculed him, shaking their heads and saying, “Aha! You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days! 30 Save yourself, and come down from there!” {Just a pleasant late afternoon stroll out to the “Place of the Skull”?} 31 Also the leaders, the chief priests and scribes mocked him among theirselves, saying, “He saved others! But he can’t save himself!” 32 And, “Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down from the cross that we may see it, and believe!” And those who were crucified with him also threw insults at him.

He is King of Israel, let him come down from the cross, and we’ll believe in him. 43 He trusts in God, let God deliver him now!            John 18:28-40

28 Then the Jewish leaders took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness they did not enter the palace, because they wanted to be able to eat the Passover meal. (You see why the “last supper” was noT the Passover meal. Also Jn.13:29.) 29 So Pilate went out to them and asked, “What accusation are you bringing against this man?” 30 “If He were not a criminal,” they replied, “we would not have handed Him over to you.” 31 Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law.” The Jews said to him, “It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death.” 32 This fulfilled Jesus’ prediction about the way he would die. (By Roman crucifixion/“lifted up”.) 33 Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” 34 “Is that your own idea,” Jesus asked, “or did others talk to you about me?” 35 “Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?”

     36 Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world.” 37 Pilate said, “So you are a king?” Jesus responded, “You say I am a king. But I was born and came into the world to testify to the truth. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true.” 38 “What is truth?” retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the leaders and people gathered there and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him. 39 But you have a custom of asking me to release one prisoner each year at Passover. Would you like me to release this ‘King of the Jews’?” 40 “Not this man,” they shouted, “but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was an insurrectionist/murderer and robber.

1 - From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by God's will, sent to proclaim the promised life which we have in union with Christ Jesus. 2 To Timothy, my dear son in the faith, grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. 3 I thank God whom I serve, as did my ancestors, with a clear conscience, as I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. 4 I long to see you again, for I remember your tears as we parted. And I will be filled with joy when we are together again. 5 I remember the sincere faith you have, the kind of faith that your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice also had. I am sure that you have it also. 6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 8 Don't be ashamed to speak for our Lord. And don't be ashamed of me, just because I am in jail for serving him. Use the power that comes from God and join with me in suffering for telling the good news. 9 He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. His Comfort

So there Jesus was.. He was being marched to His crucifixion. Women were weeping.. He took time to comfort them! And also used it to prophecy/warn. And when He was on the cross.. more comfort, when He said “I tell you today.. YOU shall be with me in paradise” Lk.23:26-43.

Jesus Prayed Earnestly

Christians are losing the battle (Christendom? the culture? what has been Western Civilization) because we're so divided. All behind our doctrinal fences. And Jesus prayed so earnestly (on the eve of His crucifixion, no less) that we would all be one.. That we would be close.. Even "as He and the Father are one". But look at us! We see all the differences, rather than common ground. When perhaps unity would rub off some of those rough edges!

Life Is A Metaphor

It's a popular belief that Bible prophecy is merely metaphor. But to believe this is to miss two thirds of what it is God is doing. The Bible is wondrously and gloriously literal!
- Jesus lived, was crucified and was resurrected. His virgin birth demonstrates that the "firstborn of all creation" who "was with God" prior to his coming here, was that spotless lamb the Old Testament always prophesied. The "wages", result, and natural occurrence of imperfection may be death (decline, fading) but Jesus was not imperfect and states that he died in our place "so that where he is, we may be".
- Paradise (universal) is going to be literally restored to this planet. And "apocalypse", the unveiling of lies from truth (when untruth crashes) will literally precede it, teaching and demonstrating to all, the all important knowing of all good from evil, which is life from death.
- A second resurrection of all not yet reconciled to God will also literally occur, followed by a day (an age of 500 years) of the examining of all history and all lives, as to what went wrong; what works and what doesn't work so well.
- After all this, it's recorded all those not believing will die a second time and "the last enemy vanquished will be death".
