GospeL Verses ~ Luke 2:8-20
8 - There were shepherds nearby, out in the field by night, watching over their flock. 9 And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, with the glory of the Lord shining around them, and the shepherds were afraid. 10 But the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that is for all people. 11 For to you this day, is born in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you - you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward man.” 15 When the angels had gone, the shepherds said to each another, “Let’s go over to Bethlehem and see this that has happened! Which the LORD has made known to us.” 16 And they went straightaway and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger [phatné - feeding trough for cattle]. 17 And when they saw this, they related all that had been told them concerning the child. 18 And all listening wondered at what the shepherds were saying. 19 But Mary stored it all in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned to the field, praising and glorifying God for all they had heard and seen.

~ 2 Corinthians 4:1-10
1 - Therefore, having this ministry, by the mercy of God we do not lose heart. 2 But have renounced any cunning or underhanded ways. We refuse to tamper with God's word! But by open proclamation of the truth, and in the sight of God, we commend ourselves to everyone's conscience. 3 If our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are (still) perishing. 4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds to keep them from seeing the light of the good news of the glory of Jesus, who is the image of God. 5 For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants, for his sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts. Giving the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus. 7 But we have this treasure in vessels of clay (first?) to show that the greatness of power belongs to God and not to us. (A new, perfect, non aging body - of finer substance? - is promised.) 8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed. Perplexed, but not driven to despair. 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken, struck down, but not destroyed. 10 Always carrying in ourselves the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be made evident in us.
