1 - In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all people in the Roman empire should be registered. 2 This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 So everyone went to their home town to register. 4 Joseph went up from Nazareth of Galilee, to Bethlehem of Judea, called the city of David, because he was of the house and lineage of David. 5 He went with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. 6 And while they were there, the time for her to give birth came. 7 And she bore her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger [phatnΓ© - feeding trough for cattle] because there was no place for them in the inn.

12 - Since we have such a hope [elpis - expectation, hope, trust, confidence] we are very bold! 13 Not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people might not gaze at the radiance that was fading away, that was coming to an end. 14 But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains, because it’s only through Christ that it is taken away. 15 Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. (A heart /mind connection?)16 But when we turn to the LORD, the veil is removed. 17 Now the LORD is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the LORD is, there’s freedom. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, gazing at the LORD, are being transformed into his likeness from one degree of glory to another. And it comes from the LORD who is the Spirit.
