     07/28 - GospeL Verses

9 - When his disciples asked him what the parable of the seeds meant, 10 Jesus said, “To you it’s been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God. But for others they’re in parables, so that ‘seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’

     11 The seed is the word of God. 12 The seeds along the path are those who hear the message, but then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts so they may not believe and be saved. 13 And the seed on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But they have no root {depth} and believe for a while, but in a time of difficulty, they fall away. 14 And as for the seed (message) that fell among the thorns, are those who hear, but as they go on their way the message is choked by the cares, riches, and pleasures {distractions} of life. And the fruit {of the message} doesn’t mature. 15 As for the seed in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it steadfastly in an honest and genuine heart, and bear fruit with patience.

     16 No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jug or puts it under a bed. They put it on a table or stand, so that those who enter may see by its light. 17 For nothing is hidden that won’t be made known, nor is anything secret and a mystery, that will not be known and come to light. 18 Take care then, how it is you hear, for to the one who has, more will be given. And from the one who has not {doesn’t hear} even what they think they have, will be taken away.” {Note: there is no time word in this verse so why is there so much assuming of ‘for ever’..? Some verses with no time word, have been translated to include the word “forever”.}
