N.T. in a year reading & study, verses R paraphrased [ ] references { } thots
☀️ 1 - Earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy, but - be sure to pursue love! 2 One who speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not to others but to God. And no one understands what they might be saying. They are uttering mysteries in the Spirit{/Presence of God}.
3 But the one who prophesies is speaking to people for their encouragement, for building up, for comfort, even for consolation. 4 The one who speaks in a tongue builds up their self, but the one who prophesies builds up the church/believers.
5 Now I (Paul) want you all to pray and speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy! Prophesying is greater than speaking in tongues, unless someone interprets. So the listeners may be built up!
6 Now if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or teaching? 7 If musical instruments, such as the flute or the harp, don’t give a distinct note, how will anyone know what’s played? 8 And if the bugle doesn’t give a distinct [diastolΓ© - distinction, (its own) different] sound, who will get ready for battle?
