πŸŒ™ 19 - This is the testimony of John (the Baptist/baptizer) when the Jewish leaders sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” 20 He answered them, “I’m not the Christ.” 21 And they asked, “Who then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “No.” “Are you the Prophet?” ..“No.” 22 So they said, “Who are you? We need to give an answer to those who sent us.! What do you say about yourself?”

23 He said, “I’m the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord!’ as the prophet Isaiah said.” [Isaiah 40 - 3 The voice of him that cries in the wilderness, “Prepare the way of the LORD! Make a straight path in the desert for our God. 4 Every valley will be exalted, and every mountain and hill will be made low! The crooked places will be made straight, and the rough places will be made smooth. 5 And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all will see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has said it.]

24 They had been sent from the Pharisees, 25 and they asked him, “Then why are you baptizing, if you’re neither the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

26 John answered, “I baptize with water, but among you stands one you don’t know! 27 He will come after me. The strap of whose sandal I’m not worthy to untie.” 28 This was in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
