☀️ Colossians 2:18-23
18 - Don’t let someone else disqualify you! Insisting on asceticism or the worship of angels, going on in detail about visions. Puffed up without reason by their self focused mind, 19 not holding fast to Jesus the head and Lord, from whom the whole body of believers is nourished and knit together through the joints and connecting ligaments [sun-desmos - bond, ligament, uniting principle] grows with a growth that’s from God.
20 If you died with Christ, to the elementary spirits that drive the world, why, as if you are still living to the world, do you submit to regulations? {Today, follow its philosophy, thinking and trends?} 21 Rules {thinking} according to human precepts and teachings, various do’s and don’ts and how to’s. 22 Things that pass away. 23 These all have an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made {spirituality?} religion, asceticism and severity to the body but these are of no value in curbing the failures or excesses of the lower, imperfect nature.
π John 8:12-20
12 - Again Jesus said to the people, “I’m the light of the world! Whoever follows me won’t walk in darkness, but they will have the light of life.”
13 And the Pharisees said to him, “You’re bearing witness about yourself. And your testimony isn’t true.” 14 Jesus answered, “Even if I bear witness about myself, it’s a true witness. I know where I came from, and I know where I’m going. But you don’t know where I came from or where I’m going. 15 You judge according to human judgment. But I judge no one.
16 Yet even if I do judge, my judgment would be true, for it’s not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me.
17 In your Law (of Moses) it’s written that the testimony of two people is true. 18 I’m the one who bears witness about myself. And the Father who sent me bears witness of me.”
19 “Where is your Father?” they asked. Jesus answered, “You don’t know me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father.” 20 These words he spoke in the treasury, as he was teaching in the temple. But no one arrested him, because the hour had not yet come.
[The “treasury” - gazophulakion, from gaza and phulakΓ© - is where the people would go — “In the Second Temple period, the treasury was an important part of the Temple complex, an area for worshippers to go to, where they could give offerings and so contribute to the maintenance of the Temple and its services ..a symbol of the people's interest and support for the religious institution. The offerings were used for the upkeep of the Temple, support for the priests, aid for the poor..”]
