 • 1 Peter 1:1-7  Matthew 26:1-13

            ☀️ A.M. 1 Peter 1:1-7

1 - From Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,

To the elect {picked out} sojourners [parepidémos - sojourners, strangers, exiles, temporary residents] who are spread out from the dispersion. {From persecution like Acts 8:1?} Believers in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 2 may grace and peace be multiplied to you! Which is according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in all sanctification of {in?} the Spirit {sacredness.. “come away my beloved..” “I have loved you with an everlasting love..”} to obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood {clear conscience}.

     3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has birthed us into a living expectation [elpis - hope, expectation, trust, certainty] through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, unsoiled, and unfading - stored in heaven for you - who 5 by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last [eschatos - last, final, utmost, extreme, final] time.

     6 In this you rejoice! Though now for a little while, if necessary, you’ve been grieved by various trials, 7 testing {strengthening} the genuineness of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes. Tested by fire {like metal and silver} that it be found in praise, glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. {At the “trumpet blast”.}

            🌙 P.M. Matthew 26:1-13

1 - When Jesus had finished teaching all things, he said to his disciples, 2 “You know that after two days is Passover, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”

     3 The leaders, the chief priests and elders of the people, gathered together in the palace of Caiaphas the high priest. 4 And they plotted together how to secretly arrest Jesus and have him killed. 5 But they proposed, “Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar among the people.” [Yet it occurred on Passover.]

     6 Jesus meanwhile was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, 7 and a woman came to him with an alabaster flask of very fragrant and expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he was reclining at table. 8 And when the disciples saw it, they said to one another, “Why this waste? 9 This could have been sold for a large sum and given to the poor.” 10 But Jesus, aware of it, said, “Why do you trouble her? She’s done a beautiful thing for me. 11 You have always the poor with you, but you won’t always have me. 12 In pouring this ointment on me, she has done it to prepare me for burial. 13 Truly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in all the world, what she has done will also be told.”
