☀️ A.M. 1 Peter 3:1-6
1 - Likewise, wives, adapt to your husbands, so even if he doesn’t obey the word, he may be won over without a word 2 when he sees your reverent and peaceful spirit. 3,4 The resulting inner beauty of a gentle spirit, unlike outward adorning, is unfading, and in God's sight, is very precious.
5 This is how the holy women of old, who hoped in God, adorned themselves,, by adapting to their husbands, 6 as Sarah listened to Abraham, even calling him lord. And you are her daughters, if you do good and aren’t overly excitable or easily alarmed.
🌙 P.M. John 14:1-11
(Jesus, before his arrest, on the evening before his execution, is alone with his eleven disciples. They had supper, and Judas has left. The other disciples think perhaps he has gone to buy what they need for the Passover meal, as he was the one who carried the money bag.)
1 - Jesus told them, “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions [monḗ - from ménō - to remain, abide – an abiding dwelling-place i.e. not transitory; monḗ - used twice in the NT both times by Christ, an individual dwelling place]. If this wasn’t so, would I tell you that I go to prepare a place for you?” {I go to be crucified, so that where I am you may be.}
3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I’ll come back and take you to myself, so where I am you may be. 4 And you know the way to where I’m going.”
5 Thomas said, “Lord, we don’t know where you’re going! How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father {who is Life} except through me. 7 If you know me, you know my Father. So from now on you do know him, and see him.” [See - horaó - to see, perceive, understand.]
8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and it will be enough for us.” 9 Jesus said, “Have I been with you this long, and you don’t know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me, has seen the Father. So why say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you know I’m in the Father? And the Father is in me? The words I say to you I don’t say on my own. But the Father - who dwells in me - has been doing his works. 11 Believe me, that I’m in the Father and the Father’s in me. Or believe because of the works. [Works - ergon - work, task, employment; a deed, action; that which is wrought or made, a work, act/deed that carries out a purpose].
