2 Timothy 2:22-3:7 John 19:23-27
☀️ A.M. 2 Timothy 2:22-3:7
22 - So flee youthful passions. Pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a genuine and pure heart. 23 Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies. You know that they breed quarrels. 24 And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach patiently, 25 correcting opponents with gentleness. That God may grant them repentance leading to knowing the truth, 26 and they come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.
3:1 - But understand this, in the last days there will be times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, full of conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having the appearance of godliness {!? ..puts on sheep’s clothing? talks a good talk?} but denying its power. {Which is God.} Avoid such. 6 For among them are those who creep into households and capture the weak, burdened with sins [hamartia - (of) missing the mark, with flaws, weaknesses] and led astray by various passions, 7 always learning and never able to arrive at an understanding of the truth. {The world’s ways, and life as we presently know it, this contrast, imperfection, an abyss of potential, is - so to speak - a very powerful delusion.}
🌙 P.M. John 19:23-27
23 - When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his garments and divided them into four parts, one part for each soldier. But the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom, 24 so they said, “Let’s not tear it, but we’ll cast lots to see whose it’ll be.” This fulfilled the Scripture which says, “They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.” For indeed the soldiers did these things.
25 Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and her sister, and Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved (John referred to himself this way) standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” 27 Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his household.
