Hebrews 12 11-14

 a paraphrased ‘enter the story’

07/29 ~ From New Testament Letters

   (In the Order Believed Written)

11 - At the time, correction seems painful and not at all pleasant, but later its training yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness. 12 Therefore lift the drooping hands! Strengthen the weak knees! 13 And make straight paths for your feet! So that what is lame may not be put out of use but instead will be healed.

     14 Strive for peace with everyone, and strive for holiness [hagiasmΓ³s - noun derived from hΓ‘gios - holy, sanctification - the process of advancing in holiness, being progressively transformed by the Lord into His likeness and similarity of nature] without which no one perceives the LORD.

Hebrews 12 3-10

 a paraphrased ‘enter the story’

07/28 ~ From New Testament Letters

   (In the Order Believed Written)

3 - Consider Jesus who endured such hostility against himself! That you may not grow weary or fainthearted. 4 For in your struggle you have not had to suffer what others have. (And have not struggled so fierce we sweat blood like our Lord did in Gethsemane.) 5 And have you forgotten this, that speaks to you as to sons and daughters - “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the LORD, nor be weary when reproved by him. 6 For he disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every one whom he receives” (Proverbs 3:11-12).

    7 The endurance {crucible} is for discipline {and testing as testing metals to purify and strengthen}. God is treating us as sons and daughters. For what son or daughter is there whom a father does not correct? 8 If we are left without correction, in which all take part, then we are illegitimate children, and not sons and daughters! 9 Besides, have we not had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them? Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and receive Life? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed fitting to them, but he disciplines us for our benefit, that we may share his character and nature of holiness. {By being a temple for his Spirit/Presence. He is Life, Love, and “is perfect” Mt.5:48.}

2 Corinthians 7 1-10

  12/29 ~ From New Testament Letters

   πŸ•Š️ (In the Order Believed Written)

1 - Since we have these - promises - beloved, let us rid ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the reverence of God.

     2 And make room for us in your hearts. We have wronged no one, we have corrupted no one, we have taken advantage of no one. 3 I don’t say this to judge you {but to nudge you?} for I said before that you’re in our hearts, whether we die together or live together! 4 I’m acting with great boldness toward you because I have great pride in you. I’m filled with comfort! In all our troubles, I’m overflowing with joy! 5 Even when we came into Macedonia, we had no rest, we were afflicted at every turn, fighting without and fear within. 6 But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus! 7 And not only by his coming but by the good words of comfort with which he had been comforted by you. For he told us of your longing, your mourning, your zeal toward me. So that I rejoiced even more. 8 Because even if I made you grieve with my letter, I don’t regret it. Though I did regret it! For I knew the letter would grieve you. But only for a while! 9 As it is, I rejoice! Not because you were grieved, but because you were grieved unto repentance [metanoia - to change ones mind, turn, repent]. For it was a godly grief, so you lost nothing from it. 10 For godly grief produces a coming to senses which gains life, safety, wholeness, without regret. Whereas worldly grief [lupΓ© - sorrow, grief, pain, distress] produces loss of life. {Stress, etc, equals less life? Now, and shorter duration of life? Sweeping issues under the carpet isn’t the best remedy?}
