(Review: When the day of Pentecost had arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind.. and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.. they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done.. On a day when) 1 - Peter and John were going up to the temple at the ninth hour, an hour of prayer, 2 there was a man there who had been lame from birth and was carried daily and laid at one of the gates of the temple - the one called the Beautiful Gate. And he would ask alms of those entering the temple. 3 Seeing that day Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked alms of them. 4 And so they stopped, and Peter said, “Listen.” 5 And so the man fixed his attention on them, hoping to receive something.

     6 But Peter said, “I have no silver or gold. But what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” 7 And he took him by the right [dexios - from dechomai - to receive] hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong.

     8 And leaping up! The man stood and began to walk. And he entered the temple with them, walking, and leaping, and praising God!

     9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God. 10 And they recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate asking for alms every day. And they were filled with wonder and amazement.

     11 While the man stayed near Peter and John, all the people, utterly astounded, ran together to them in the portico called Solomon's Porch.

     12 And when Peter saw the crowd that had gathered, there at the temple, he addressed the people saying, “People of Israel, why do you wonder at this?! Or why do you stare at us? As though by our own power, or goodness, we have made this man walk? 13 No! The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him.

     14 But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you! 15 And you killed the Author of life! Whom God raised from the dead! And to this we’re witnesses! 16 And his name, faith in his name, has made this man strong, which you can see for yourself. And so the faith that is through Jesus has given to him this perfect health in the presence of you all.

     17 And now, brethren, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also the leaders. 18 But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that Christ would suffer, has been fulfilled.

     19 Repent therefore, and turn, that your sins may be blotted out 20 and times of refreshing may come from the Presence of the LORD, that he may send the appointed one, Jesus 21 whom indeed it is necessary for heaven to receive, untiL, the time of the restoration of all, which God spoke of, by the mouth of His holy prophets long ago. {Until the ‘Day’ of the LORD, which is also Jesus’ long second advent.}

     22 Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers. And you shall listen to him! In whatever he tells you. 23 And it shall be that every soul who doesn’t listen to that prophet shall be separated from the people.’ 24 And all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came after him, also proclaimed these days. 25 You are the children of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘In your seed shall - all - the families of the earth be blessed.’”

     [Galatians 3:16 - “scripture doesn’t say seeds, meaning many, but seed, meaning one - Christ”. In Christ “all” families of earth shall be blessed.]

     26 “God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first - blessing you, by turning each of you {us} from your (our) bad” [ponéria - wicked, evil, malice, from pónos - pain, laborious trouble] {bringing?} “ways”.

            ☀️ A.M. 2 Timothy 2:1-6

1 - Therefor my son (Timothy) be always strengthened by the grace that is ours in Christ Jesus. 2 And what you’ve heard from me - and in the presence of many witnesses - entrust to faithful others, and they’ll be able to teach more persons as well. 3 And share in the suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

     4 A soldier doesn’t get entangled in civilian pursuits, because their aim is to please the sergeant above them. 5 An athlete isn’t crowned, unless they compete according to the rules. 6 And it’s the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crop!

     {Jesus is God’s “firstfruits” - 1 Cor.15:23. And Jesus rose on Firstfruits, third Spring holy day of Spring holy week. Upon the annual Old Testament day of Firstfruits, a sheaf was waved in praise and thanksgiving for the entire harvest. ..Romans 3:4 “You (God) and Your words will be proved right when You are judged..” Upon Great Day of Final Discernment, all things will be judged and discerned, with closure for all.. And I think it will result in a universal moment of utter awed silence, at what it is that God has done.. (created). And then a building roar of resounding praise.}

27 - Then the soldiers of the governor (Pilate) took Jesus into the praetorium (the governor's headquarters) and gathered all the Roman cohort quartered there. 28 And they stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him. 29 And twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head, and they put a reed in his right hand. Then kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” 30 And they spit on him and took the reed and struck him on the head with it. 31 And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes back on him and led him away to be crucified.

     32 As they were going, they found a man of Cyrene (coming into town) Simon by name, whom they compelled to carry the cross. (Jesus having been flogged and beaten.) 33 And when they came to a place called Golgotha, which means Place of a Skull, 34 they offered him wine to drink, mixed with bitter gall (an herb) but when he tasted it, he wouldn’t drink it. 35 And when they had crucified him {“lifted him up from the earth” Jn.12:32} they divided his garments among them by casting lots. 36 Then they sat down and kept a guard over him. 37 And over his head they put the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.” 38 Two robbers were also crucified with him, one on the right and one on the left.

(Paul writing a second letter to Timothy, Verse 9 “..who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of who we are or what we do, but because of hiS own purpose, and grace, which he gave us, in Christ Jesus, before the ages even began”  1O - and which now has been seen {and witnessed) through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light, through the good news that is proclaimed, 11 and for which I was appointed a preacher, apostle and teacher, 12 which is why I suffer as I do. But I’m not ashamed, for I know who it is I’ve believed, and I’m convinced he’s able to guard until that day, what has been entrusted to me. {When Jesus “returns” and begins his long second advent? Called gathering the wheat into the barn, at the culmination of the nations (still tares) having gathered to Armageddon battle.} 

     13 Follow the pattern and sound teaching you have heard from me. Continue in the faith and the love that are in Christ Jesus. 14 And by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, guard the good deposit [parathéké - deposit, trust, commitment].

     15 You’re aware all who are in Asia went away and left me on my own, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes. {..It’s interesting that Jesus dictated (to John) seven letters to seven churches of Asia, which begin the Book of Revelation.}

     16 But may the Lord grant special mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains (house arrest in Rome). 17 Instead when he arrived in Rome he searched earnestly for me, and found me. 18 May the Lord grant him to find special kindness from the Lord on that day! And you well know all the service he rendered at Ephesus.

11 - Jesus stood before the Roman governor, Pilate. And Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus said, “You have said so.” {Not me.} 12 But as he was being accused by the chief priests and elders, Jesus gave no answer. 13 Then Pilate said to him, “Do you hear how many things they accuse you of?” 14 But he gave no answer to any charge, and the governor was greatly amazed.

     15 Now at the Passover feast he was accustomed to release to the people one prisoner whomever they might want. 16 And they had then a notorious prisoner called Barabbas. 17 So when they had gathered, Pilate said to them, “Who do you want me to release for you? Barabbas? Or this Jesus who is called Christ?” 18 For he knew it was out of envy the leaders had brought him to him.

     While he was sitting at the judgment seat, his wife sent word to him, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, because I have suffered much over him today in a dream.” 20 Meanwhile the leaders, the chief priests and elders, had persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas, and have Jesus executed.

     21 The governor again said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” And they said, “Barabbas!” 22 Pilate said, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They called out, “Let him be crucified!” 23 And he said, “Why? What evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Crucify him!”

     24 When Pilate saw his words were going nowhere, and that a mob was forming {mob mentality, instigated and maneuvered} and a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, and said, “I’m innocent of this man's blood! See to it yourselves.” 25 And all the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!” {Elsewhere it says judgment comes (mostly cause and effect) but no one is to try to aid it! But it’s a positive bet the spiritual adversary - seditious “angelos” will. And we see it on the rise in today’s world.}

    And from John’s account, JOHN 19:1 - Then Pilate took Jesus and had him scourged. 2 And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. And they put a purple robe on him, 3 and were saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and slapped and struck him.

     4 Pilate went out again and said to the crowd, “See, I am bringing him out to you that you may know that I find no guilt in him.” 5 So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, having been flogged and beaten. And Pilate said to them, “Behold the man!” 6 When the leaders, the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, “Crucify him! Crucify him!” Pilate said, “Take him yourselves! And crucify him! For I find no guilt in him.”

     7 They answered him, “We have a law, and according to it he ought to die because he has made himself the Son of God.” 8 Now when Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid. {For the Roman emperor was to be thought of as ‘god’ and no others. {All nations had a faint ancient memory of a promise of “a Son” (so part divine, and part human) as deliverer and savior - the promise given in Eden. Also memories of Eve “mother of all” and of the flood. Pre-flood having been a time of hands off.. To claim godhood in the Roman empire was punishable by death and execution.}

     9 Pilate entered his headquarters again and said to Jesus, “Where are you from?” But Jesus gave him no answer. 10 So Pilate said to him, “Will you not speak? Do you not know that I have authority to release you, and authority to crucify you?”

     11 Jesus said, “You would have no authority over me at all unless it had been given to you from above. Therefore he who delivered me over to you has the greater sin.”

     12 From then on Pilate sought to release him, but they cried out all the more, “If you release this man, you are not Caesar's friend! Everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar!” 13 So when Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called the Stone Pavement, and in Aramaic called Gabbatha..

1 - From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, according to the promise of the life that is in Christ Jesus, 2 to Timothy, my beloved child in the Lord: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

     3 I thank God whom I serve, as did my ancestors, with a clear conscience, as I remember you in my prayers every day. 4 As I remember the tears we felt, I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy. 5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and now, I know dwells in you. 6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, 7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and a sound mind.

     8 Therefore don’t be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord! 28 - Then, when it was early morning, they led Jesus from the house of Caiaphas to the governor's palace and praetorian (court and guard quarters). They themselves didn’t enter, so they wouldn’t be considered contaminated, and could eat the Passover meal. {Which had noT yet occurred.} 29 So Pilate went outside to them, and he said, “What accusation do you bring against this man?” 30 They answered, “If this man were not doing evil, we wouldn’t have brought him to you!” 

     31 Pilate said, “Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law.”

     The Hebrew leaders said, “It’s not lawful for us to put anyone to death.” 32 This was to fulfill the word that Jesus had spoken to show by what kind of death he was going to die. [Jesus had said, “If I’m lifted up from the earth - signifying what his death would be” (the Romans crucified by lifting up on a pole or pole and beam, and if so) “I will draw all to me” Jn.12:32.]

     33 So Pilate went back inside and called Jesus to him, and said, “Are you the King of the Jews? 34 Jesus answered, “Do you say this of your own accord, or did you hear it from others?” 35 Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you over to me. What have you done?” 36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom isn’t of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my followers would fight, so I wouldn’t be delivered over to them. But my kingdom isn’t of the world.” {So why is there division among believers due to politics of “the world”?}

     37 Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say, I’m a king. For this purpose I was born. And for this purpose I’ve come into the world - to testify of the truth. Everyone who’s of the truth listens to what I say.” 38 Pilate said, “What is truth?”

     After this, he went back outside, “I find no guilt in the man,” he said, 39 “but you have a custom that I should release one man for you at Passover. Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?” 40 They cried out, “Not this man! But, Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber. [And had committed murder in a sedition, Lk.23:19.] [Mk.15:11 - the chief priests {leaders of the nation, much more political than religious/devoted}stirred up the crowd to have Pilate release Barabbas.]

     35 And some of the bystanders nearby, hearing it said, “Look! He’s calling to Elijah.” 36 Someone ran and filled a sponge with strong wine, and putting it on a reed, gave it to him to drink, saying, “Will Elijah come to take him down?”

     37 But then Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last breath. 38 And the (large, metal weaved in?) curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.

     39 When the Roman centurion who was on guard duty there, saw how he died, he said, “Truly this was the Son of God!”

     40 There were women looking on from a distance, among them was Salome, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger (of the twelve disciples) and of Joses. 41 When he was in Galilee, they had helped him with meals and with support. There were also many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem.

     42 And then, when evening was coming [hurriedly] (the new day beginning at sunset, which day would be a Sabbath, a no work day) since it was (still) before Unleavened Bread Sabbath, 43 Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the council, who was also himself looking for the kingdom of God, took courage and went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

     44 Pilate was surprised to hear that Jesus had already died. And summoning the centurion, he asked whether he was already dead. 45 And when he learned that he was, he granted the body to Joseph.

     46 So Joseph bought a linen shroud {believed “shroud of Turin” with like a negative image on it, perhaps from the Light of resurrection?} and taking him down, wrapped him in it, and laid him in a tomb that had been cut out of rock. And he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. 47 And Mary the mother of Joses and Mary Magdalene saw where he was laid.

      LUKE 23:44-56 [Accounts always differ in details, especially after some time has passed.] 44 -  It was now about the sixth hour [about noon] and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour [3 pm]. 45 Then the curtain of the temple was torn in two. [Matthew 27:52 - The earth shook, the rocks split.] 46 And Jesus, calling out with a loud voice said, “Father into your hands I commit my spirit!”  [Commit, entrust - paratithémi- to place beside, to set before, to entrust, to commit, from serve a meal, to commit, entrust; from para - beside or alongside, and tithémi - to place or to set.. entrust, commit, serve — “into your hands my spirit”.] And having said this he breathed his last.

     47 Now when the centurion on duty saw what had taken place, he praised God, and said, “Surely this man was innocent!”

     48 And all the crowds that had assembled for this spectacle, when they saw what had taken place, returned home beating their breasts. 49 And all his acquaintances and the women who had followed him from Galilee stood at a distance watching it all.

     50 Now there was a man named Joseph, from the Jewish town of Arimathea. He was a member of the council, a good and righteous man, 51 who had not consented to their duplicity {conspiracy} and he was waiting for the kingdom of God.

     52 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 53 Then he took it down and wrapped it in a linen shroud and laid him in a tomb cut in stone, where no one had ever yet been laid. 54 It was the day of Preparation, and the (Unleavened Bread) Sabbath was beginning. [First Day of Unleavened Bread is a Sabbath/no work day. It is the day after Passover, which Passover is the “preparation day” for it.] 55 The women who had come with him from Galilee followed and saw the tomb and how his body was laid. 56 Then they left and prepared spices and ointments. And on the (Unleavened Bread) Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

     [Remember, days began at sunset, not at midnight. They would have prepared spices on the day after the Sabbath of First Day of Unleavened Bread, so did the work of preparing them on 2nd day of Unleavened Bread, then rested/no work on the regular weekly Sabbath (7th day, Saturday) ..and went to the tomb as the sun was rising on the day following the weekly (Saturday) Sabbath. — Passover and 1st Day of U.B. are moveable holy days. But the third holy day, Firstfruits, isn’t moveable but is always on the same day of the week, the day after the weekly (Saturday) Sabbath.

     Jesus died on Passover - was in the grave as 1st Day of U.B. day was beginning - and rose on Firstfruits. (As weekly Sabbath has ended, same time of day, as 3 days earlier when he was laid in the tomb) - Thus the three holy days of Spring holy week were fulfilled — The Spring and Fall holy days are listed in Leviticus chapter 23.]

☀️ (The gospels as two six month readings means there is some repetitiveness.) 11 - Herod and his soldiers mocked Jesus, and were treating him with contempt. Then they arrayed him in kingly clothing and Herod sent him back to Pilate. 12 Herod and Pilate became friends that very day, when before this they had been hostile with one another. {The spirit of Jesus prevailing even then, in this strange historic example.}

     13 Then Pilate called together the people and the rulers {the} leading priests {the political rulers were priests, so called religious wars were usually not religious but political} 14 and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who is misleading the people. And after interrogating him, I haven’t found him to be guilty of any of your charges. 15 Neither did Herod, for he sent him back here. Look, nothing deserving death has been done by him! 16 Therefor I’ll punish him and release him.” 18 But they all cried out, “Away with this man! Release to us Barabbas!” 19 This was a man who was in prison for murder during an insurrection. 20 Pilate addressed them once more, wanting to release Jesus (it was a Rome granted favor each Passover, to release someone to them). 21 But they kept shouting, “Crucify! Crucify him!” 22 A third time he said, “Why? What has he done? I have found in him nothing deserving of death. I will therefore punish and release him.” 23 But they were vehement, demanding with loud cries that he should be crucified/executed. And their voices {of incited hysteria and hatred} prevailed.

62 - After Preparation day (prep day for the Passover meal, eaten after sunset/start of a new day) the Hebrew leaders, the chief priests and the Pharisees, went before Pilate 63 and said, “Sir, we remember how that impostor said, while he was still alive, ‘After three days I will rise.’ 64 Therefore order the tomb to be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples go and steal him away and tell the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last fraud will be worse than the first.”

     65 Pilate told them, “You have a guard of soldiers, go and make it as secure as you can.” 66 So they went and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone, and setting a guard to watch.

And Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus said, “You have said so.” {Not me.} 12 But as he was being accused by the chief priests and elders, Jesus gave no answer. 13 Then Pilate said to him, “Do you hear how many things they accuse you of?” 14 But he gave no answer to any charge, and the governor was greatly amazed.

Barabbas? Or this Jesus who is called Christ?” 18 For he knew it was out of envy the leaders had brought him to him.

     While he was sitting at the judgment seat, his wife sent word to him, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, because I have suffered much over him today in a dream.” 20 Meanwhile the leaders, the chief priests and elders, had persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas, and have Jesus executed.

     21 The governor again said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” And they said, “Barabbas!” 22 Pilate said, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They called out, “Let him be crucified!” 23 And he said, “Why? What evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Crucify him!”

     24 When Pilate saw his words were going nowhere, and that a mob was forming {mob mentality, instigated and maneuvered} and a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, and said, “I am innocent of this man's blood! See to it yourselves.” 25 And all the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!” {Elsewhere it says judgment comes but no one is to try to aid it! But it’s a positive bet the spiritual adversary - seditious “angelos” will, also (apparently) having the ability to think and reason thus having some power of choice - of which “free will” is an exagerration of, including concerning anyone’s time of coming to the Truth. I.e, both angelkind and mankind have at least some power of choice, it being an offshoot of being able to think and reason. God’s ‘wrath’ is cause and effect, for all - as in “his blood be upon us”. Greek orge/passion/‘wrath’. God’s passion is Truth! Cause and effect, as opposed to creation being some sort of ant farm.. Surely(?) before doing any act of creation, he could see all possibilities and potentials.. And has done and does all as he has, and does, in order to bring about the best possible final outcome and CREATION. He “is Perfect” (and is Life. Surely? And no option to stray in Eden, would be that ant farm. So this contrast, this slow gehenna fade we call entropy, a crucible and a process that “does not quit”. So “God is savior of all” (1Tim.4:10) and the remedy, strong enough to appease eveRy conscience - for imperfection is an abyss of potential - was “built in from the foundation/beginning” and the Son so close to the Father, both administer God’s Spirit/Presence (same as will “seal” and saturate all mankind, angelkind and creation) the Son is the one main building bLock.} 26 Then Pilate released to them Barabbas, and having Jesus flogged, he then delivered him to be crucified.

     And John’s account, Jn.19:1 - Then Pilate took Jesus and had him scourged. 2 And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. And they put a purple robe on him, 3 and were saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and slapped and struck him. 4 Pilate went out again and said to the crowd, “See, I am bringing him out to you that you may know that I find no guilt in him.” 5 So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, having been flogged and beaten. I think even cannibaalism was rampant, now they await resurrection into GWT judgment ‘day’ (of kolasis/korrection, all range of, but inner). To claim godhood in the Roman empire was punishable by death and execution.}

     9 Pilate entered his headquarters again and said to Jesus, “Where are you from?” But Jesus gave him no answer. 10 So Pilate said to him, “Will you not speak? Do you not know that I have authority to release you, and authority to crucify you?”11 Jesus said, “You would have no authority over me at all unless it had been given to you from above. Therefore he who delivered me over to you has the greater sin.”

If I do not love others, I am nothing more than a noisy gong, or loud clanging cymbals. 2 If I am able to prophecy, and can understand God’s mysteries and have ‘all’ knowledge, and a faith that can move mountains, and do not love, I am nothing. 3 If I gave everything I may have to the poor and if I even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it - but if I don’t love others, I would have gained nothing. 4 Love is patient and kind. It doesn’t envy, it doesn’t boast, and it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, and doesn’t demand its own way. Love is not easily angered and does not keep a record of wrongs. 6 It takes no pleasure in evil, but rejoices in the truth. 7 Love never gives up and never loses faith. Love hopes and endures all things. 8 Love. Never. Fails. Prophesying will end, tongues will cease, and special knowledge will pass away. (Swallowed up in the light, truth understood.) 9 Now we know in part, and only in part do we prophecy. 10 But when the perfect, full and complete comes, the in part will pass away. 11 When I was a child, I thought, spoke and reasoned as a child, but when grown, I did away with the childish. 12 For now, we see through a glass that is not clear, but then, it shall be face to face. And now I know in part, but then shall I know in full, even as I am fully known. 13 Now abides faith, hope [elpis - expectation] and love. But the (by far) greatest - is love.
