          Luke 5:27-39

27 Later, as Jesus left the town, he saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at his tax collector’s booth, and He said to him, “Follow me.” 28 So Levi [Matthew] got up, left everything, and followed him. 29 Later, Levi held a banquet in his home with Jesus as the guest of honor. Many of Levi’s fellow tax collectors and other guests also ate with them. 30 But some Pharisees and their scribes complained to Jesus’ disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” (Hebrew tax collectors.. for Rome!)

31 Jesus answered them, "People who are well don’t need a doctor, but only those who are ill. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” (Not those who think they are righteous/self righteous.)

33 And they said to him, “John’s disciples often fast and pray, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours go on eating and drinking.” 34 Jesus answered, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? 35 But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them, in those days they will fast.” 36 He told them this parable (about fasting with prayer) “No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. 37 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. (“Ye must be born again.”) 38 Instead, new wine is poured into new wineskins. 39 But no one who drinks the old wine seems to want the new wine. ‘The old is just fine,’ they say.”

           ~ Hebrews 10:18-22 ~

18 (And) when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices! 19 And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus (to the very Presence of God). 20 By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. 21 We have a great high priest who is in charge of God's house. 22 So let us come near to God with a sincere heart and a sure faith, with hearts that have been purified from a guilty conscience and with bodies washed with clean water. [Another version - “Let us approach with a sincere heart and in absolute trust, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed/katharos - without admixture, purged, cleansed, in pure water.”]
