Today’s GospeL Verses ~ Luke 11:1-13

1 - Jesus was praying, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” 2 And he said, “When you pray, say, ‘Father, hallowed be your name, let your kingdom come. 3 Give us each day our daily bread, 4 and forgive us our trespasses, as we ourselves forgive those who have trespassed against us. And let us not be led into temptation.’” 5 And he said, “Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves! 6 For a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’. 7 And he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me. The door is shut, and my children are with me in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’ 8 I tell you, though he will not get up, because he is his friend, and because of his insistence, he will rise and give him whatever he needs. 9 And so I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 11 What parent among you, if your child asks for a fish, will instead give them a serpent? 12 Or if they asks for an egg, will give them a scorpion? 13 If you then, who are evil [ponΓ©ros - toilsome, bad] (a hamartian - imperfect) know how to give good gifts to your children - how much more - will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

                ~ James 3:13-18 ~

13 - Who is wise and understanding among you? By their good conduct let them show their works and faithfulness in the humility of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter jealousy, and self interest ambition in your hearts, don’t boast, while being unfaithful to the truth. 15 This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but it is earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition is, there will be disorder and every vile practice. 17 But the wisdom from above is pure, peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, and is impartial and sincere.18 And a harvest of righteousness is reaped by those who sow peacefuLLy and make peace.
