Today’s GospeL Verses ~ Luke 12:49-59
49 - He also said to the crowds, “I came to bring fire upon the earth, and I wish it were already kindled!” (To be done with this imperfectness.) 50 “I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how great is my distress until it’s accomplished! 51 Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No I tell you, but rather division, the choosing of sides. 52 From now on in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three. 53 There will be father against son, son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 54 When you see a cloud rising in the west, you say, ‘A shower’s coming.’ And so it does. 55 And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, ‘There will be scorching heat,’ and so it is. 56 You are actors. You know how to read earth and sky (weather). Why do you not know how to read the times?” (Divided we fall.) 57 “And why do you not judge for yourselves? 58 As you go with your accuser before the magistrate, make every effort to be released, lest he drag you to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and the officer put you in prison. 59 I tell you, you will not get out until the last penny is handed over.”

8 - We cared so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God, but our own lives as well. That is how dearly loved you have become to us. 9 For you remember, brothers and sisters, our labor and toil. We worked night and day that we might not be a burden to any, while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God. 10 You are witnesses, and God also, of how holy and righteous and blameless was our conduct with you. 11 For you know how, like a father with his children, 12 we taught each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God. It is he who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.
13 We also thank God always, that when you received the message of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word and promise of men, but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.
