Today’s GospeL Verses ~ Luke 9:51-62

51 - When the days drew near for his ascension, he set his face to go to Jerusalem. 52 He sent messengers ahead of himself, who went and entered a village of the Samaritans, to make preparations for him. 53 But the people didn’t receive him, because his face was set toward Jerusalem. 54 And when his disciples James and John saw it, they said, “Lord, do you want us to tell fire to come down from heaven and consume them?” 55 But he turned and was indignant with them. 56 And they went on to another village. (Is the Father like Jesus? Or is He like Nebuchadnezzar?)

     57 As they were going along their way, someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go!” 58 But Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man hasn’t anywhere to lay his head.” 59 To another he said, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” 60 But Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury the dead. But as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” 61 Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home.” 62 Jesus said to him, “No one putting their hand to the plow but then looks back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

16 - Don’t be deceived, my beloved brethren! 17 Every good gift, and every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of light [photon - radiance]. For with him there is no shifting shadow. 18 It is his own will that he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

      19 Know this, my beloved, let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. 20 For human anger does not produce the righteousness (state of rightness) of God. 21 Therefore having put away all moral contamination and rampant wickedness [kakopoiéō - wicked disposition, malice, wickedness] receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But don’t mislead yourself being only hearers of the word, but be doers of it.
