Today’s GospeL Verses ~ Luke 13:31-14:6

31 - Right then some of the Pharisee party came and said to Jesus, “Get away from here, for Herod wants to kill you.” 32 And he said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I finish my course. 33 Nevertheless, I must go on my way today and tomorrow, and the day following, for it cannot be that a prophet should perish away from Jerusalem.’ 34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! (None of us are, until God calls, Jn.6:44.) 35 Behold, your house is left behind. And I tell you, you will not see me until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’”

14 One Sabbath, when he went to dine at the house of a ruler of the Pharisees, they were watching him carefully. 2 And behold, there was a man there who had dropsy [hudrΓ³pikos - edema, a disease produced by the accumulation of water in various parts of the body; very distressing, and commonly incurable; notice how Luke the (greek) doctor uses the name of the illness]. 3 And Jesus responded to the lawyers and Pharisees (were they testing him?) saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath, or not?” 4 But they remained silent. Then he healed him and sent him on his way. 5 And he said to them, “Which of you, having a son or an ox that has fallen into a well on a Sabbath day, will not immediately pull him out?” 6 And they couldn’t give an answer.

     (In the Order Believed Written)

                ~ 1 Thessalonians 4:9-18 ~

9 - Now concerning brotherly love you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another, 10 for that indeed is what you are doing with all the brothers and sisters throughout Macedonia. And we urge you to do this more and more, 11 and to live quietly, minding your own affairs. And working with your own hands, as we instructed you, 12 so you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.

13 And we don’t want you to be uninformed about those who are asleep (in death) that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope [elpis - expectation] (for the dead, not having heard the “good news for all). 14 For through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15 For we who are alive - who are left until his coming - will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. This we declare to you, by a word from the Lord.

17 Then we who are alive to his coming, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet him, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words. (Zech.14:4?)
