Today’s GospeL Verses ~ Luke 15:21-31

21 - And the son (who went away and wasted his inheritance on riotous living) said to his (happy) father, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I’m no longer worthy to be called your son.’ 22 But the father said to his workers, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes for his feet. 23 And get ready the fattened calf and let us eat and celebrate! 24 For my son was dead! But now he’s alive. He was lost, and now he’s found.’ And they began to celebrate.

25 “Now his older son was in the field, and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 And he called one of the servants and asked what was the meaning. 27 And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and sound.’ 28 But the older son was angry, and he refused to go in. His father came out and tried to talk to him. 29 But he answered, ‘Father, I’ve worked and served you these many years, and I’ve not run off and left the work for others, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’ 31 And the father said to him, ‘But son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.’”

     (In the Order Believed Written)

                ~ 2 Thessalonians 3:6-18 ~

6 - Now we tell you, in the name of our Lord Jesus, to keep distance from a brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, that we were not idle when we were with you. 8 Nor did we eat anyone's bread without paying for it, but we worked every day, that we might not be a burden to anyone. 9 It wasn’t because we don’t have that right, but to give you an example to imitate. 10 For even when we were with you, we would give you this instruction - If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. 11 For we hear that some among you are walking in idleness, and instead are acting as busy bodies. 12 Now such persons we entreat and encourage in the Lord Jesus, to work quietly and to earn their own living.

13 As for you, brethren, don’t grow weary in doing good. 14 If anyone doesn’t carry through what we say in this letter, take note of that person, and avoid them. 15 Don’t regard them as an enemy, but be warning them as a fellow believer in the family of God. (Some were expecting the Lord so soon, they had quit working for their own support, and whoever they might be responsible for.)

16 Now may the Lord of peace give you peace. At all times in every way, and the Lord be with you all.

17 And I, Paul, write this last greeting with my own hand. This is the sign of genuineness in every letter of mine. It is how I write. 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
