06-08 - From Heb-1 Lk-24

N.Testament & Prophecy Advanced CU Study, verses paraphrased  [ ] references { } thots

Hebrews 1:1-4  Luke 24:36-48

            ☀️ A.M. Hebrews 1:1-4

1 - Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke by the prophets. 2 But in these days he’s spoken to us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all. [Pas - all, every, the whole.] Through whom also, he created the ages [aions]. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory, the exact representation of His being, and sustaining all things by the power of the word [rhรฉma - word, saying, utterance, matters]. {Thy word is Truth, Jn.17:17. Truth is the only enduring pattern.}

Through himself he provided purification for sins. {Purifying the conscience, so we are free to be reconciled/friends with God, and fully his, in heart and mind.} He then sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high [hupsรฉlos - high, lofty, exalted] 4 having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.

            ๐ŸŒ™ P.M. Luke 24:36-48

36 - They were still talking about these things (how Peter saw him, and how the two while on their way to Emmaus saw and spoke with him) when Jesus himself stood among them, and said, “Peace to you.”

37 But they were startled. And frightened, and thought they were seeing a ghost.

38 He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why is there doubt in your hearts? 39 See my hands and feet, that it’s I myself. Touch me, and see.

For a ghost doesn’t have flesh and bones - as you see, I have.”

40 And he showed them his hands and feet. 41 And while they still could hardly believe for joy and were marveling, he said, “Have you anything to eat?” 42 So they gave him a broiled fish, 43 and he ate it.

44 Then he said, “These are my words I spoke to you while I was still with you - that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Psalms, and written by the Prophets is to be fulfilled.”

45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scripture, 46 and he said, “And so it’s written - that Messiah/the Christ would suffer, and on the third day would rise from the dead [nekros - dead, deceased]. 47 And that repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name [onoma - name, authority, cause] to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem. 48 And you’re witnesses of these things.”

GospeL Verses ~ Mark 6:46-56

46 - After he had seen them off, he went further into the mountain to be alone to pray. 47 And when evening came, the boat was out on the sea [of Galilee] but he was still on land. 48 He saw that they were struggling. The wind was against them. (And so often such is life.) And at about the fourth watch of the night he went out to them, walking on the water. He meant to pass by, 49 but they saw him and thought it was a ghost, and cried out. 50 For they saw him walking by on the water and they were terrified. But he said, “Take heart! It is I! Don’t be afraid!” 51 And he got into the boat with them, the wind stopped, and they were utterly amazed. 52 For they didn’t understand [suniรฉmi - put together, consider, understand, perceive] about the loaves, for their hearts were hardened [pรณroรณ - petrified, hardened, from pลros, a kind of marble) – properly, made of stone; figuratively, insensible, dull, unperceptive, unresponsive]. (Unresponsive.. perhaps struggles of life make us more responsive.. and he gets in, or that is we realize he’s in the boat with us. This in response to the extreme thought that when he calls we should be like - zero. Zero response. I understand we DO NOT earn Life/salvation. That’s the other extreme. But a stone as a bride? I can’t think that’s the way either.)

53 When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret and anchored to shore. 54 When they got out of the boat, the people immediately recognized Jesus, 55 and they ran about the whole region and began to bring the sick people on their beds to wherever they heard that he was. 56 And wherever he came, in the villages, cities, or countryside, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and implored him that they might touch even the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched were made well. (I rest my case.)

                ~ 1John 3:10-14 ~

10 - By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are (still) children of the devil. Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, noR is the one who does not love their fellow (person).

11 This is the message that you have heard from the beginning! That we should love one another. 12 We should not be like Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil [ponรฉros - toilsome, bad] (not good) and his brother's righteous. 13 Don’t be surprised, brothers and sisters, that the world dislikes you. 14 We know we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers and sisters [adelphos - from alpha, a prefix and delphus - womb] (Eve is “the mother of us all” and especially our brothers and sisters believing in the Lord with us). Whoever does not love, is abiding in death.

           Luke 24:36-48

36 As they (Jerusalem and Emmaus believers) were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!” 37 They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38 And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see, a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” 40 As he spoke, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 Still they stood there in disbelief, filled with joy and wonder.

Then he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he ate it as they watched. 44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” 45 Then HE opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. 46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and in his name the message about repentance [metรกnoia – a change of mind - from metanoรฉล - metรก - changed after being with; noiรฉล - think — “think differently after”] and the forgiveness of sins/wrongdoing [aphesis - dismissal, release, fig. pardon] must be preached to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem. 48 And you are witnesses of these things.

           ~ Hebrews 1:1-4 ~

1 - Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. (I found this version interesting - “God, having spoken in former times in fragmentary ..fashion..”) 2 But in these last days (the fifth and sixth days) he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he upholds the universe by the mighty power of his command. After making purification for sins [hamartia - missing the mark] he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. 4 Having emerged as much superior to the angels! And the name he has inherited is beyond excellent to theirs.
