Today’s GospeL Verses ~ Luke 21:8-15
8 - And he said, “See that you are noT led astray. There will be many who come in my name saying I’m he, and that the time is at hand. Don’t go after them. (Truth mixed with error makes for danger.) 9 And when you hear of wars and tumults, don’t be afraid, for these things must take place, but the end will not be at once.” 10 Then he said, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. [This part of the prediction is not applicable to the era preceding the ruin of Jerusalem in 70 CE, nor entirely the next.] 11 There will be earthquakes both great and in various places, and famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven. 12 But before then they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues [sunagรณgรฉ - a bringing together, by ext. an assembling] and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name's sake. 13 This will be your opportunity to bear witness. 14 Settle it in your minds not to meditate beforehand what to answer, 15 for I will give you words and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to oppose or answer.

~ 1 Corinthians 1:11-18 ~
11 - It’s been reported to me by Chloe's people that there is quarreling among you, my brothers and sisters. 12 What I mean is some say, “I follow Paul,” or “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Peter,” or “I follow Christ.”13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul? 14 I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, 15 so that no one may say that you were baptized in my name.16 I did baptize also the household of Stephanas. Beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized anyone else. 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize. He has sent me to preach the gospel (the “glad tidings for all”). And not with words of so called eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its POWER. 18 For the cross, indeed, is folly to those who are (still) perishing, but to us who are (now) being saved it is the POWER of God.
