Sept-04 From Mk-10 Ja-1

πŸ•Š️ A paraphrased NT scripture study

   (sometimes w/ commentary)

  [and original language insight]

         πŸ“œπŸž+πŸ·πŸ•Š️(+Logic)

Today’s GospeL Verses ~ Mark 10:17-27

17 - And then as he was setting out, a man ran up and knelt before him and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit the enduring life?” [AiΓ³nios - ages long (life).] (There’s not really a word for ‘forever’ in the Greek.. or the Old Testament Hebrew. But logically, true Life, being God himself, is enduring life.)

18 And Jesus said, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. 19 You know the commandments.  ‘Don’t murder, don’t commit adultery, don’t steal, don’t bear false witness, don’t defraud. And honor your father and mother.’” (And wouldn’t you know it, there were Pharisee laws on the books that allowed you to put money in trusts instead of benefitting your elderly parents.) 20 And the man said to him, “Teacher! All these I have kept from my youth.” 21 And Jesus, looking at him, felt affection for him, and said, “You lack one thing, go and sell all you have and give it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. And come, follow me.” 22 Saddened, the man went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions!

23 And Jesus told his disciples, “How difficult it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!” 24 And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how difficult it is to enter the kingdom of God! 25 Easier it is for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a wealthy person to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 And they were surprised. “Then who” they said, “can be saved?” 27 Jesus said, “With men it’s impossible, but not with God, for with God all is possible.”

From New Testament Letters

     (In the Order Believed Written)

                ~ James 1:23-27 ~

23 - If anyone is a hearer of the word, but not a doer, they are like someone who looks intently at theirself in a mirror, 24 and then go away and forget what they look like! 25 But those who look into the perfect law - the Law of Liberty - and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who does (who “follows”) they will be blessed!

26 If anyone thinks they are religious but cannot bridle their tongue, they deceive theirself and their religion is useless [mataios - vain, aimless, without purpose, not useful]. 27 Religion that is pure and uncontaminated before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction [thlipsis - tribulation, pressure, distress] and to keep oneself free from the vices of the world.

Fuzzy Memories Of Eve?

Adam called Eve "the mother of all". The very oldest artifacts found by archeologists are rough hand held size carvings of a rather heavy woman. Found in all lands, some have been found as simply torsos, perhaps what a small babe would see if held under their mother's garment. Or perhaps the head and limbs of these fell off easily during the centuries before they were unearthed. These ancient hand held 'gods' could cause one to wonder if perhaps Eve didn't become a big lady during the course of her long life.

The mother of us all,
the oldest of all,
hard,
splendid as rock.
Whatever there is that is of the land
it is she
who nourishes it...
             ... A Homeric hymn (approx 750-800 B.C.?)

When Adam called Eve, "the mother of all" perhaps unknowingly he helped to create one of the first man made 'gods' for the Mother Goddess is a tale and religion which has been found in all lands, and which later became a major deity of Babylon, Semiramus, which eventually spread to other lands as the India Indus goddess, Isis in Egypt, Kwan-Yin in China, Aphrodite in Greece, and the Venus of Rome.

Politics and Religion All in One

Here's politics and religion all in one!
- In order to have a perfect world (or household) it basically requires a dictatorship, and of course that's short lived, or an illusion unless said dictator(ship) is perfect and incorruptible - or, if the members of the world (or household, etc) are perfect and incorruptible, along with a total knowledge of cause and effect (good and evil).

PoLiTiCs !!

I can say I'm of a certain party, politically, because I side with them on more issues, and think they bode better for the future than the other party. But I surely don't believe a whole lot government / politicians, or any party says! Because you know why? If I did believe a lot of what they said, it could become a religion to me! And most of what I would have to say about it would do more harm than good. It's not Religion (any spirituality/philosophy other than my own) that's the cause of all wars, it's human nature and false beliefs about (the) others..

Surely If There is God, He is Perfect..

It seems to me that there is very much the possibility that the 'end' result of all this (human history and all) can only be the best 'end' result possible, because God is Perfect, therefore nothing else is even possible!
