  GospeL Verses ~ Matthew 4:1-11

1 - Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and nights, he was hungry, 3 and the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread!” 4 But Jesus answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word that comes from God.’” 5 Then the devil [diabolos] took him to the holy city and set him on the highest wing of the temple 6 and said, “If you’re the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, for it’s written, ‘He will command his angels about you, and they will come and bear you up, lest you even strike your foot against a stone!’ 7 So Jesus said, “Again, it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” 8 Then again, the devil took him up on a high mountain and showed to him all the kingdoms of the world and all their glory, 9 and said to him, “All this I will give you, if you fall down and worship me.” 10 Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and it is him only you shall serve’” [latreรบล - from latris - someone hired to accomplish a technical task because qualified, to render technical, acceptable service because specifically qualified/equipped/outfitted]. 11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and ministered to him.

                    ~ 2 Corinthians 8:1-14

1 - We want you to know, dear friends, about the grace of God that is among the churches of Macedonia, 2 for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy, and their extreme poverty, have overflowed into a wealth of generosity on their part. 3 For they gave even beyond their means, and it was their idea to do so. 4 They asked us earnestly for the privilege of taking part in the relief of the saints— 5 and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves wholly to the Lord and then by the will of God, they gave to us as well. 6 And so we urged Titus, that as he had started this act of grace among you, so he should complete it as well. 7 And so as you abound in all things, in faith, speech, knowledge, earnestness, and in brotherly love, may you abound in this grace as well. 8 And not because of instructions from me, but because of your genuine love and earnestness. 9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus, that though he was rich, yet for our sake he became poor, so that we by his poverty might become rich! 10 And in this matter I offer my judgment, this indeed profits you, who a year ago started to do this work which you desired to do. 11 So now complete it so it will be an actual well done work. Complete it out of your ability, 12 for the readiness being there, it’s acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he doesn’t have. 13 For it makes no sense if others be relieved, but you burdened. 14 No, your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance later, may come to supply your need. And in that way there will be fairness among us [isรณtฤ“s – equality likeness, proportional]. (This is not, of course, a sort of oligharchy commune-ism administered by an all powerful, non-perfect, human POWER as RULERS. For heaven forbid there be drought or shortage, which goes along the lines of, “who do those in power tax, their children or the children of others?”)

Dec-30 From Mt-3 2Cor-7

    a paraphrased scripture study

          - - - - - - - - - - - -

  GospeL Verses ~ Matthew 3:11-17

John the baptizer baptizing and telling the crowds - 11 - “I am baptizing you with water for (representing your) repentance [metรกnoia – literally a change of mind, after-thought, repentance) but he who is coming after me is mightier than I. And his sandals I am not worthy to carry! He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. (Here - is the fire. Yes? Jesus said, Jn.12:32, he “will draw all to himself”. Sure - initially - upon ‘day’ of judgment/discernment, it’s only logical that those who have been the vilest acting among us, will experience the outside of the Light darkness portrayed in the rich man and Lazarus parable. Where however the rich man is already moving on and progressing toward remorse.. the weeping, beating self with many stripes..) 12 His [the Lord’s] winnowing fork (it is noT a pitchfork) is in his hand, and HE will clear his threshing floor (the earth) and gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff (the husk/carnal and self first, part of us - the “heart circumcised”) he will burn with unquenchable fire.” (God iS a consuming fire, the expert refiner of the silver and gold of the soul. And, however, the earth will undergo razing and cleansing by fire - Ps.2! Every mention of a lake of fire is at huge fiery events - upon earth. The first one sounds manmade, Is.24:20. Go figure.)

13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan River, and to John to be baptized by him. 14 But John said, “I need to be baptized by you! And you come to me?” 15 But Jesus said, “Let it be so, for it’s fitting that we fulfill all righteousness.” 16 And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and the heavens were opened, and John saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest upon him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” (He is “the First” - “forever preeminent” - “all in Him” - the first/proto. HE is the prototype.)

From New Testament Letters

     (In the Order Believed Written)

                   ~ 2 Corinthians 7:11-16

11 - For see what sincerity this godly grief has produced in you, instead of reasoned defense - indignation and regret. And what strong affection, zeal and judgment [ekdikรฉsis - discernment and acting upon that discernment]. So that you have proved yourselves to be innocent in the matter. 12 So although I wrote to you, it was not for the sake of the one who did the wrong, nor for the sake of the one who suffered the wrong, but in order to shine light upon the earnestness between us, in the sight of God. [Earnestness - spoudแธ—, from speรบdล - to move quickly, speed on, swiftness to show diligence and one's best, and full effort by making haste - aha! Matthew when Jesus said “Come, follow me” got up immediately and went with Jesus. I love this word during these days where one of the “stumblingblocks” thrown about is there is no following, no enthusiasm - the thread of truth holding that error together is yes it’s the Spirit of God that does all the changing within us - key, it occurs within us. But the error erases and leaves out the changes. Well, if we’re all as perfect as any of us need to be.. where and how does the kingdom and paradise of perfection get to be instituted and established forever? Do we think God’s master blueprint is anything less!? And just HOW do you create genuinely able to think and reason beings, aNd, keep paradise/perfection intact? Obviously a paradise cannot be a mere ant farm. But what about total herd immunity? 100% forever immunity from imperfection, i.e. convinced immunity from the straying from God who is Life, surely? And who “is Perfect”, which makes imPerfect to be? - Ro.6:23. Isn’t this why the remedy was built in from the foundation? Eph.1:4)

13 Therefore we are comforted. And besides our own comfort, we rejoiced still more at the joy of Titus! Because his spirit was refreshed by you. 14 And the boasts I made to him about you, were not later an embarrassment. But just as everything we said to you was true, so also our boasting to Titus has proven true. 15 And his affection for you now is even greater! For he remembers your obedience [hupakoรฉ - literally, submission to what is heard]. And how you received him. 16 And so I rejoice, because I have complete confidence in you.

  GospeL Verses ~ Matthew 3:1-10

1 - In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the Judean wilderness saying, 2 “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” 3 For this is who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah when he said,

“The voice of one crying in the wilderness - ‘Prepare the way of the Lord! Make his paths straight!’” 4 John wore a garment of camel's hair with a leather belt, and he lived on locusts and wild honey. 5 Soon Jerusalem, all Judea, and all the region around the Jordan River were going out to hear him, 6 and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. 7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming, he said to them, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bear fruit in keeping with repentance. 9 And do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham! 10 Even now the axe is laid to the base of the trees! And every tree not bearing good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire! (A parable, and prophecy of 70 A.D. Why would anyone assume this is an ‘afterlife destiny’? Israel is the ‘micro’ fulfillment, history’s global culmination is the macro. All cause and effect, bound to occur, as mankind’s empires, and system are “built on sand”.)

                     ~ 2 Corinthians 7:1-10

1 - Since beloved, we have these (great) promises, let us go on to cleanse ourselves from every pollution of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the reverence of God. 2 Make room in your hearts for us. We have not wronged nor corrupted anyone. Nor have we taken advantage of any one. 3 I don’t say this to find fault with you, for I said before that you are in our hearts, whether we die together or live together. 4 Great is my confidence toward you and great is my pride in you. I am filled with encouragement! In all our affliction, I am overflowing with joy. 5 For even when we came to Macedonia, we had no rest, and were afflicted at every turn. There was fighting without and fear within. 6 But the one who comforts the down trodden, God, comforted us by the coming of Titus. 7 And not only by his coming but also by the encouragement with which he was comforted by you. For he told us of your longing, your mourning, and your zeal. So I rejoiced still more. 8 For even if I made you grieve with my letter, I don’t regret it - though I did regret it, for I see the letter grieved you, if only for a while. 9 And so I rejoice! Not because you were grieved, but because you were saddened into repenting. You felt a godly grief! And so you suffered no loss. 10 For godly grief produces repentance, which leads, without regret, to salvation (life). Unlike worldly grief, which leads to death.

9 - And the angel said to me (John) “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb” (Mt.25:1-13, “behold a white horse and he riding it, and the armies of heaven following” -> going to the wedding/union and “the” millennium/the supper that follows). And the angel said to me, “These are the true words of God.” 10 Then I fell at his feet to worship, but he said, “You must not do that! To God only give your worship! I am but a fellow servant with you and your brethren who hold to the testimony of Jesus. For the testimony of Jesus” (we all share) “is the spirit of prophecy” (of how all shall be! He as King of kings and Lord of lords, “the” kingdom.) 11 Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and the one sitting on it is called faithful and true, and in righteousness/justice does he judge and do battle. 12 His eyes are like flaming fire. On his head are his many crowns. And he has a name written that only he himself knows. 13 Having been clothed in a robe dipped [bapto] in blood, the name by which he is called is The Word of God. 14 And the armies of “the” heaven, were following him on white horses, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure. 15 From his mouth comes a sharp sWord (“thy Word is Truth”) with which to strike [patassรณ - to beat/of the heart, to strike, from paiรณ - knock, strike, sting, and tuptรณ - beat, hit, wound] the nations - AND - he will shepherd them (hello?) [poimainรณ - act as a shepherd] with a (measuring) rod of iron (which rod/measure is unbreakable Truth). He will tread the winepress of the fury of  (2Pet.3:10,13, “elements melting in a fury of fire) the wrath of God the Almighty. (Metaphor/riddle for the inevitable, cause and effect, culmination of the wayward way, of history, of mankind’s doings, a lake of fire, go figure, Rev.6:12-17, ๐Ÿ—️described as all its effects first to last->but after the first->Rev.7:1,3. WeekLy BooK oF Acts 19 1-20

   a paraphrased study

1 - While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul went through the inland country and came to Ephesus. And there he came across some disciples. 2 He asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They said, “No, we’ve not heard anything about a Holy Spirit.” 3 And he asked, “What then were you baptized into?” They said, “Into John's baptism.” 4 So Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, and told the people to believe in the one who was coming, that is, Jesus.” 5 And upon hearing this they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul lay his hands on them (with prayer) the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they began speaking in unknown tongues and prophesying. 7 There were twelve men in all. 8 Then Paul entered the synagogue, boldly reasoning and persuading about the kingdom of God for about three months. 9 But when some became contentious in their disbelief, speaking abusively of the Way before the gathering, he left off from them and took the disciples with him. And then he reasoned daily in the hall of Tyrannus. 10 This went on for two years, so that all in the region of Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.

11 And God was doing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul. [Extraordinary - tygxรกnล - hit, hit upon, meet, happen, to strike, hit the mark, i.e. "spot on," "hit the bullseye”, therefore opposite to hamartรกnล/hamartia - to miss the mark - (which is translated “sin”). (What!? What a word riddle. Opposite of missing the mark ..A perfection of God is as healer!)] 12 Even handkerchiefs and aprons Paul had touched were taken to the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them. 13 Then some itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon theirselves to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over some who had evil spirits, saying, “I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul proclaims.” 14 And seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this. 15 But the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and I recognize Paul, but who are you?” 16 And the man in whom was the evil spirit leaped upon them, and overpowered and beat them so they fled out of the house naked and wounded. 17 And this became known to all the residents of Ephesus, both Jews and Greeks. And awe fell upon them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus became even better known. 18 Also many of those who were now believers came, confessing their magic arts. 19 And many brought their books together and burned them in the city square. When they counted the value of them, they found it came to fifty thousand pieces of silver. 20 And so the word of the Lord continued to increase and to prevail mightily.

                         ~*~

     Very Brief Outline of Acts:

Jesus returns to where he was with the Father before his advent/visit (his brief first one).

The Holy Spirit/Presence of God is poured out on the believers who were in Jerusalem on the late Spring holy day of Pentecost. Peter speaks, there are 3000 new believers that day.

The good news message spreads, Peter is invited and goes to a Roman’s house and all believe. The first record of non Hebrew believers (besides likely some on Pentecost).

Persecution breaks out.. jail. stoning. Pharisee Saul leads the persecution, but on his way to Damascus with papers for arrests, Jesus makes himself seen but is so bright Paul falls to the ground and is blinded. After two days he is healed and is a believer, and soon is called Paul. He wrote many (to most) of the New Testament letters, but spent a few years (it seems to me) exclusively listening to the Lord. He established many ‘churches’ in what’s called three missionary journeys, and met and worked with Mark and Luke, and quite a few others. (Luke wrote this Book of Acts.) His fourth journey is to Rome to trial as a prisoner. There’s a shipwreck on the way.. He wrote many of his letters while in prison and under ‘house’ arrest. ..And yes he was executed because of what he taught, as were all the original disciples turned apostles, except for probably John, who in his later years wrote three short letters and the vision and book of Revelation.

  GospeL Verses ~ John 1:6-18

6 - There was a man sent from God, his name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe. 8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness of the light. 9 For the true light - which gives light to all - was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world didn’t recognize him. 11 He came to his own people, but they did not receive him. (Which is exactly how God planned it. And all nations would act the same.) 12 But to those who do receive him, and who believe upon his name, he gives the right to become children of God. 13 Who are born (again) not of blood, for it does not originate from man nor is it of the world, but it is of God. 14 And the Word (that was with God) became flesh and he dwelt among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 And John bore witness about him, crying out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has precedence over me, because he was before me.’” 16 And from his fullness - we all receive - grace upon grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the only begotten of God, the one in union with the Father, he has made him known.

11 - We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians. We opened our heart to you. 12 If you are restricted, it’s not by us, but within your own selves. (It makes no sense to compete with anyone but our own self. Fruit grows when we stay attached to the vine, Jn.15.) 13 In return, I speak as to dear children, expand your hearts, also. 14 Do not be joined tightly with unbelievers. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what oneness has light with darkness? 15 What friendship has Christ with Belial? Or of what share is there between a believer and an unbeliever? 16 What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Therefore go out from among them, and be as separate from them (the world’s philosophy and views)” says the LORD, “and have nothing to do with what is unclean [akรกthartos - an adjective, derived from A - not, and katharรณs - clean, purged  – properly, not pure but mixed, a wrong mix, thus tainted] and I will welcome you. 18 I will be a father to you, and you will be sons and daughters to me, says the LORD Almighty.”

  GospeL Verses ~ Luke 2:39-52

39 - And when Mary and Joseph had performed everything according to the Law of the Lord, they returned to their own town of Nazareth, in the district of Galilee. 40 And the child grew and became strong. He was filled with wisdom, and the favor of God was upon him. 41 Now every year his parents went to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up as was their custom. 43 And when the feast was ended, and they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, and Mary and Joseph didn’t know it, 44 but supposed he was in the group. They had gone a day's journey, when they began to search for him among their relatives and acquaintances. 45 And when they didn’t find him, they returned to Jerusalem, and searched for him there. 46 After three days they found him in the temple, sitting with the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and answers. 48 But when his parents saw him, they were dismayed, and Mary said, “Son, why have you treated us so? Your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.” 49 And he said, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know I would be in my Father's house?” 50 But they didn’t understand what he meant. 51 And he went with them and they came to Nazareth and Jesus was submissive to them. But Mary stored these things up in her heart. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and man.

1 - Working with the Lord, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain. 2 For he says,

“In a favorable time I listen to you, and in a day of salvation I help you.” Behold, now is the favorable time! Behold - now - is the day of salvation. 3 We strive to put no obstacle in anyone's way, so that no fault may be found with our service, 4 but as workers for God we commend ourselves, through our endurance during problems, disasters, and stressful situations. 5 We went through beatings, imprisonments, and riots. We experienced hard work, sleepless nights, and hunger, 6 with purity, knowledge, patience, and generosity. We served with the Holy Spirit, with genuine love, 7 by truthful speech, and with the power of God. And with weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left, 8 through honor and dishonor, through slander and praise. We are treated as fakers and imposters, and yet we are true, 9 as unknown, and yet we are well known, as dying, and yet we live, as denounced, and yet not killed, 10 as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing, as poor, yet making many rich, as having nothing, yet possessing everything.

FROM THE PROPHETS - Isaiah

Part 6 — conclusion, next study, Daniel

~~ Isaiah sees God’s throne in the temple.. his radiant train of light fills the temple as well as smoke from the glory.. Seraphim call “holy, holy, holy” to one another and the sound makes the foundations of the earthly temple to shake..

  - - - - - - -

Isaiah was calling for Judah to turn back to faithfulness to God, and to declare the coming Messiah “Immanuel”.

Chapters 1-39, Isaiah points out the errors of both North and South Kingdoms of Israel, and declares consequences to them and the neighboring nations.. “Cease to do evil” (1:16). “The Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel” (7:14, Mt:1:22-24).

Chapters 40-55 - the return and restoration after the exile from Babylon. “There is no God beside Me” (44:6,8; 45:5,6,14,18,21). Messiah will come and bring new life through His death, “He was oppressed and afflicted, yet did not open His mouth, like a lamb led to slaughter, and a sheep silent before its shearer..” (53:7).

                  Part 5

The ‘great ones’ sowed, now reap.

Disclaimer - The Prophets May Not Be For The Timid

2:6 Lord, you have abandoned your people.. ..They are full of superstitions from the east, and practice divination ..they embrace pagan customs. 7 The land is full of silver and gold ..there’s no end to their treasures ..no end to their chariots. 8 The land is full of idols.. 9 So people will be brought low ..everyone humbled.. 10 Go into the rocks (Rev.6) hide in the ground from the fearful presence of the Lord and the splendor of his majesty! (Code for fiery capabilities of war, element of revelation’s seal six. Is there anything that truly humbles? Other than ones own consequences? ..Both individual and collective.) 11 The eyes of the arrogant will be humbled and human pride brought low, the Lord alone will be exalted in that day. 12 The Lord Almighty has a day in store for the proud and lofty, and all who are exalted ..every lofty tower and every fortified wall, 16 for every trading ship and every stately vessel. (Trade. $ity and Tower Babble “on seven hills”/continents.) 17 The arrogance of man will be brought low and human pride humbled 18 ..and the idols will totally disappear [chalaph: to pass on or away ..Idols - ๐Ÿ“ž abolished, altered, changed, cut off, gone forward, grown up, be over, pass away.] 19 People will flee to caves in the rocks and to holes in the earth ..when he rises to shake the earth. 20 In that day people will throw away their idols of silver and gold, made to worship. 21  They will flee to caverns in the rocks and to the overhanging cliffs..when he rises to shake the earth. 22 Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nose. Why hold them in esteem?

CROSS REFERENCES - Revelation 6 — 12. I (John) watched as he OPENED the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the full moon turned blood red, 13 and the stars in the sky fell to earth, like figs from a fig tree, when, shaken (thus blown) by a mighty wind. 14 The heavens receded [apochรณrizรณ - separated, parted, swept aside) like a scroll being rolled. And every mountain and island moved. 15 Then the kings of earth, the great ones, and generals, the rich, and the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of mountains. 16 They called to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us! Hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?!” (The seals of Revelation are described at their first occurrence, as their FULL effects - first to last, veiling what they are, especially the sixth seal.)

(Back to Isaiah) 3:9 they parade their sin (the ‘great ones’ setting the trends?) 9 .. They have brought disaster upon themselves. 10 Tell the righteous - it will be well with them - for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds. 11 Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them! They will be paid back for what theiR hands have done. 12 Youths oppress my people, women rule over them. My people, your guides lead you astray, they turn you from the path. 4:5 Then the Lord will create over all of Mount Zion, and over those who assemble there, a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night, over everything the glory will be a canopy.  (Mt. Zion is often a spiritual ‘place’. Whereas Mt. of Olives, the literal Earthly place.) 6 The canopy will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the (fiery?) storm and (acid?) rain (Is.24:20). Rev.7:16.

5:8 Woe to you who add house to house and join field to field until you live alone in (and own all) the land. 9 Surely the great houses will become desolate, the fine mansions left empty. 17 Sheep will graze there, as in their own pasture. Lambs will feed among the ruins of the rich. 20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil ..23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent ..30 if one looks at the land, there is only darkness and distress, even the sun will be overshadowed by clouds. (Prophet Joel’s smoky day? Revelation’s sun covered, red moon/moon reflecting red?) (In shorthand? The mighty of Earth will indeed ignite Armageddon battle. Which will turn out to be their, and the world’s, and the wrong way’s judgment/reaping what you sow. Other bible speak, drinking a cup.. Rev.16:13-16, Mt.13:30, Is.24:20.)

             Part 4

1:31 - “The mighty will be as tinder and their works a spark which no person can put out. (Verse 15 - Even if you offer prayers, I will not listen, your hands are full of blood. — Micah 3:6,7 - “The day will go dark for them, they will cover their faces because there is no answer from elohim [the]gods.”)

2:1 This is what Isaiah, son of Amoz has seen concerning Jerusalem and Judah. 2 It shall come to pass, in latter days [acharith - the after-part, end] the mountain of the house of Yahweh will be established in the highest mountains and exalted above the hills, and all nations will flow to it. 3 Many people will come and say, “Come! Let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh to the house of the God of Jacob, and he will teach us his way, and we’ll walk in his paths, for out of Zion will go forth his law [torah - direction, instruction, law, from yara (or Yarah) to throw, shoot (at a target?)] and will go forth the word [dabar - speech, word] of Yahweh from Jerusalem. 4 He will judge between nations, and settle disputes. They will beat their swords into plowshares (the V plows of old) and their spears into gardening tools. 5 Come let us walk in the light of Yahweh.

Part 3

1:21 - How the faithful city has become a prostitute. Her streets used to be full of righteousness and justice, but now murderers lodge in her. (So tell me history doesn’t repeat, thus prophecy. Story of every city.)  [Think of prophecy as prophecy. Not a curse being proclaimed.]  22 The value of your silver/money has fallen away.. 25 But I will turn my hand upon you and purge away your dross. 28 The crashing [sheber - breaking, fracturing, breaching, crushing (or) crashing] of the rebels and sinners [chatta - from chata - to miss, go wrong] will be together. Those who forsake Yahweh shall be consumed. (Cross reference - 2Pet.3:10, 2Thes.1:7-8, a first mention of a lake of fire. ๐Ÿค”Order, crash, fiery event, a seal six event, but what the seal is, is veiled by its description as its entire effects, first to very last.) 30 You will be like an oak tree whose leaves have faded, like a garden with no water.. [In the prophets, usually the order is, the path of destruction pointed out, that the city, the people are on, and what will occur if the way isn’t changed - prophecy, cause and effect, not a curse - followed by verses about restoration, reconciliation and blessing. Rescue! Through a Messiah, and “savior of the world”.] (God’s other option? To avoid such calamity? A robotic ant farm?)

                  Part 2

1:3 The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master’s manger/trough, but Israel (and humanity) does not know, my people do not understand.” (And any nation, especially its leaders, though separated (“set apart”) to birth the Messiah/Savior would have also rejected him when he showed up humble, homeless, and threatening of their worldly status.) 4 ..They have forsaken ..turned their backs.. and (thus?) sinful they are. 5 ..The whole head is sick and the whole heart is faint. 6 From the sole of your foot to the top of your head there is no soundness/battered from head to foot— only bruises, wounds, and sores, not cleansed, bandaged or soothed with olive oil. 7 Your country lies in ruins, and your towns are burned. Foreigners plunder your fields before your eyes as overthrown by strangers. 8 Beautiful Jerusalem stands abandoned.. 9 Unless the LORD Almighty had left us some survivors.. 11 ..I take no pleasure in your sacrifices.. 12 who asked you to trample my courts? 13 ..wickedness in the sacred meeting.. 14 the new moon feasts, the holy day festivals.. a burden to me.. 15 Your hands are full of blood, I do not hear your prayers though they become many. 16 ..Stop doing wrong.. 17 Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow. 18 “Come now, let’s settle this,” says the LORD. “Though your sins [chet - wrongs, from chata - to miss, go wrong, wrongs] are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow.. as white as wool. 19 If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best of the land. 1:20 But if you turn away and refuse to listen, the sword devours. And accordingly has spoken the LORD. ____________________

  GospeL Verses ~ Matthew 2:13-23

13 - When the wise men from the East had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “and take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. For Herod is going to search for the child to kill him. Stay there until I tell you.” 14 So Joseph got up, took the child and his mother during the night, and left for Egypt. 15 And so what the Lord had said through the prophet was fulfilled, “Out of Egypt I called my son.” 16 When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and the vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. 17 Then what was said through Jeremiah the prophet [31:15] was fulfilled, 18 “A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.” 19 After Herod died, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream 20 and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and return to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead.” 21 So Joseph got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel. 22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there, and was again warned in a dream, so he went to the district of Galilee, 23 where they lived in a town called Nazareth. So it was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene. (God foresees all.)

                   ~ 2 Corinthians 5:10-21

10 - For we will all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. 11 Since, we know what it is to respect and revere the LORD, we try to persuade others. God himself knows what we are like, and I hope you also know what sort of people we are. 12 We are not again trying to commend ourselves to you, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart. 13 If we are “out of our mind,” as some say, it is for God, and if we are in our right mind, it is for you. 14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, because of all dying. 15 And he died for all, so those who live should no longer live for only themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. 16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once even regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation. The old has passed away, and the new has come into being. 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the service of reconciliation, 19 for God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins [hamartia - missing the mark] against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf - Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that - in him we might become (a new person of) righteousness [dikaiosunรฉ - righteousness, justice, from dikaios - correct, righteous, judged innocent].

  GospeL Verses ~ Luke 2:21-38

21 - And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised (after eight millennium mankind will be fully circumcised of heart) he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived. 22 And when the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 - as it’s written in the Law of the Lord, “Every male who first opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord” - 24 and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of the Lord, “a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.” 25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and he was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Messiah. 27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, 28 he took him into his arms and praised God and said, 29 “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word 30 for my eyes have seen your salvation 31 that you have prepared in sight of all people, 32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles/nations, and glory for your people Israel.” 33 And his father and mother marveled at what was said. 34 And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is spoken against/contradicted. 35 And a sword will pierce through your own soul also, so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” 36 And there was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived with her husband seven years, 37 and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day. 38 And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.

1 - We know that if the tent we have now is destroyed, we have an enduring heavenly one, not built by hands but from [ek - out from] God, enduring [aionion]. 2 For in this tent we groan, longing to be clothed in the heavenly, 3 that we not be poorly clad. 4 For while in this tent, we groan, being burdened - not that we would be unclothed - but that we would be more clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 The one who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. 6 Therefor we are always of good courage. We know that while we are in this body we are (somewhat) away from the Lord, 7 and we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 Yes, we are of good courage, for we wouldn’t mind be away from this body and closer with the Lord. 9 Whichever state we are, our ambition is to be well pleasing to Him.

Dec-24 From Mt-2 2Cor-4

    a paraphrased scripture study

          - - - - - - - - - - - -

  GospeL Verses ~ Matthew 2:1-12

1 - After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi (astrologers? considered to be wise men) from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and we have come to worship him.” 3 When King Herod heard this he was very agitated, and so all Jerusalem with him. 4 He called together the nation’s chief priests and teachers of the law, asked them where the Messiah was to be born. 5 “In Bethlehem of Judea,” they answered, “for this is what the prophet has written - 6 ‘You, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are not least among the rulers of Judah, for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’” 7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared, 8 and then he sent them on their way to Bethlehem saying, “Go and search for the child, and as soon as you find him, report it to me, so that I too may come and worship him.” 9 So they went on their way, and the star they had seen went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 And when they saw the star, they were joyful. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. 12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their own country by another route.

                  ~ 2 Corinthians 4:11-18

11 - For we the living are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal selves. 12 So death is at work in us. But life in you! 13 Having however the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak, 14 knowing that the one who raised the Lord Jesus, will also through Jesus, raise us together with you. 15 For all is for your sake, so that as grace extends more and more, thanksgiving will abound more and more, to the glory of God. 16 So we do not lose heart! Though our outward self is wasting away, our inner self is being built up and renewed day by day. 17 For this light and momentary affliction (this unavoidable and all important contrast) is preparing for us an enduring weight of glory beyond all comparison! 18 So we look not to the outward matters that are seen, but to the inner things that are not seen. For the things being seen are temporary, but the things that are unseen are enduring [aionia, as opposed to short lived].

  GospeL Verses ~ Luke 2:8-20

8 - There were shepherds nearby, out in the field by night, watching over their flock. 9 And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, with the glory of the Lord shining around them, and the shepherds were afraid. 10 But the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that is for all people. 11 For to you this day, is born in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you - you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward man.” 15 When the angels had gone, the shepherds said to each another, “Let’s go over to Bethlehem and see this that has happened! Which the LORD has made known to us.” 16 And they went straightaway and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger [phatnรฉ - feeding trough for cattle]. 17 And when they saw this, they related all that had been told them concerning the child. 18 And all listening wondered at what the shepherds were saying. 19 But Mary stored it all in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned to the field, praising and glorifying God for all they had heard and seen.

1 - Therefore, having this ministry, by the mercy of God we do not lose heart. 2 But have renounced any cunning or underhanded ways. We refuse to tamper with God's word! But by open proclamation of the truth, and in the sight of God, we commend ourselves to everyone's conscience. 3 If our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are (still) perishing. 4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds to keep them from seeing the light of the good news of the glory of Jesus, who is the image of God. 5 For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants, for his sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts. Giving the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus. 7 But we have this treasure in vessels of clay (first?) to show that the greatness of power belongs to God and not to us. (A new, perfect, non aging body - of finer substance? - is promised.) 8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed. Perplexed, but not driven to despair. 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken, struck down, but not destroyed. 10 Always carrying in ourselves the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be made evident in us.

1 - In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all people in the Roman empire should be registered. 2 This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 So everyone went to their home town to register. 4 Joseph went up from Nazareth of Galilee, to Bethlehem of Judea, called the city of David, because he was of the house and lineage of David. 5 He went with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. 6 And while they were there, the time for her to give birth came. 7 And she bore her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger [phatnรฉ - feeding trough for cattle] because there was no place for them in the inn.

For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains, because it’s only through Christ that it is taken away. 15 Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. (A heart /mind connection?)16 But when we turn to the LORD, the veil is removed. 17 Now the LORD is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the LORD is, there’s freedom. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, gazing at the LORD, are being transformed into his likeness from one degree of glory to another. And it comes from the LORD who is the Spirit.

  GospeL Verses ~ Matthew 1:18-25

18 - Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed (in between married and engaged?) to Joseph, before they were together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and not willing to put her to shame, resolved to annul from her quietly. 20 But as he considered these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” which means, God with us. 24 When Joseph awoke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him. They married, 25 but he knew her not until she had given birth to a son, whom he named Jesus.

1 - Are we (Paul, Timothy, etc) trying to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some do, letters of commendation? 2 You yourselves are our letter of approval! One that is written on our hearts, to be known and read by all. 3 And you - you are a letter from Christ - written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the Living God. Not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts [Jer.31:33, Heb.10:16]. 4 And this is the confidence we have, through Christ, toward God. 5 Not that we can claim that any fullness or usefulness comes from our own selves. No, our sufficiency is from God. 6 It is He who has made us fit to be ministers [diakonos - servants, waiters, ministers] of a new covenant, not of the letter [gramma - that which is drawn or written down on paper, etc] but is of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. (It’s like a diet?! The harder you try the hungrier you are? Like caging the beast rather than killing it. So to speak. But “the new and living way” is a submission, thus reliance upon God our Father. We are the ‘whole burnt sacrifice’. As to yielding to him, when  we feel we’ve yielded to the very floor of our being, that’s when we need to start tearing up floorboards?) 7 Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters onto stone, came with such glory that the Israelites couldn’t even look at Moses' face because of the brightness, a brightness and radiance that was fading, 8 won’t the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory? 9 For if there was glory in the ministry of censure (judgment, consequences) - the ministry [diakonia - service, ministry, a waiting at table] of righteousness [dikaiosunรฉ - of rightness, justice] must abound in far more glory and radiance. 10 Indeed, in this case, what once had glory and brightness, has come to have none at all. This is because of the glory that surpasses it. (Life as we presently know it, this all important contrast, is like old worn out rags, gritty with dirt, in comparison. Even though there is also so much that is good and rich.. otherwise life would totally fade away..? Example, days of Noah.) 11 For if what was being brought to an end came with such glory and radiance, how much moRe will what is permanent abound with glory.

  GospeL Verses ~ Luke 1:46-56

(Mary prophecies, called “Mary's Song of Praise” or “The Magnificat” / magnificat is Latin for “my soul”) 46 - And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord! 47 And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! 48 For he has looked upon his humble maiden. And behold (just think!) from now on all generations will call me blessed! 49 For he who is mighty has done great things for me, and his name is holy. 50 His mercy is for those who revere him from generation to generation. 51 With his mighty arm, he has revealed his strength. He has scattered the proud in the imaginings of their hearts. 52 He has brought down the mighty from off their thrones and has honored the humble. 53 He has filled the hungry, but the rich he has sent away empty. 54 He has helped his servant Israel, because of his mercy 55 which he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and all his offspring to the age (aion/eon).” [Gal.3:29 - If you belong to Christ, then you are (also) Abraham's descendant and an heir according to the promise.] 56 And Mary remained with her for about three months, and then she returned home.

                   ~ 2 Corinthians 2:10-17

10 - Whoever you forgive, I forgive. Yes, for your sake and with Jesus as my witness, I (Paul) have forgiven what needed to be forgiven. 11 This is to keep Satan from getting the upper hand, for we not unaware of his machinations.

12  When I went to Troas to announce the good news about Christ, I found that the Lord had already opened the door of opportunity. 13 But I was worried when I didn't find brother Titus there. So I left the other followers and I went on to Macedonia. 14 I’m thankful that God through Jesus always leads us in triumphal procession (reminds me of Rev.6:1-2) and through us, spreads the knowledge of him everywhere, like a fine perfume. 15 For we are the scent of Jesus in God, to those being saved (drawn, called) and to those (still) perishing, a fragrance of warning. 16 To one, a pleasant incense leading to life upon life, to another a troubling scent leading in the opposite way. Who can feel sufficient for this? 17 Too many try to earn profit and to get rich (or important?) from proclaiming and teaching God's message. But we are God's sincere messengers, commissioned by God, and in Christ we speak the message, knowing full well that God is watching.

WeeKly BooK oF Revelation 19 1-8

       a paraphrased study

1 - After these things, I (John) heard what sounded like loud voices of a multitude in the heavens saying, “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God! 2 For his judgments are true and just. And he has judged the great prostitute [porne] who corrupted the earth with her immorality, and he has avenged upon her the blood of his servants.” 3 And a second time they cried out, saying “Hallelujah. And the smoke of her rises up forever.” (Because of Rev.21:1-5, a universal regenesis, this rising of the smoke forever, must be in all memories.) 4 Then the twenty-four elders and the four living beings fell down and worshiped God, who was sitting on the throne. And they cried out, “Amen! Hallelujah!” 5 And from the throne came a voice saying, “Praise our God, all his servants, all who revere him, from the least to the greatest.” 6 Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters, and like loud peals of thunder shouting, “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. 7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him. 8 For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready (“made her preparation”).

  GospeL Verses ~ Luke 1:39-45

39 - So Mary (after angel Gabriel’s visit and announcement) went with haste into the hill country, to a town in Judah, 40 where is the house of Zechariah, and she greeted Elizabeth. 41 And when Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, 42 and exclaimed, “Blessed are you among women! And blessed is the fruit of your womb! 43 Why is this granted to me? That the mother of my Lord should visit me! 44 For listen, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy! 45 And blessed is she who believes that there will be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord!”

1 - For I (Paul) made up my mind not to have another painful visit with you. 2 For if I cause you pain, who is there to make me glad? Except the very ones whom I have pained? 3 I wrote as I did, so that when I came I might not suffer pain, when I should be rejoicing, for I felt sure of you all, that my joy would be your joy. 4 For when I wrote to you it was with much affliction and anguish of heart, and with many tears! Not to cause you pain, but to let you know the abundant love that I have for you. 5 Now if anyone has been caused pain, it has not been me, and not to put it too severely, but the pain has been to all of you. 6 For such as this, the censure by the majority (the guy was sleeping with his mother in law) is enough. 7 So you should now begin to forgive and comfort him, or he may be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. 8 So I beg of you to reaffirm your love for him. 9 I also wrote so that you may be found to be tested and true in all things.

  GospeL Verses ~ Luke 1:26-38

26 - In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to Nazareth, a city of Galilee, 27 to a virgin [parthenon - a maiden, a virgin] betrothed/engaged to a man named Joseph, of the house of David. And her name was Mary. 28 And Gabriel said to her, “Hail to you! Favored with grace! The Lord is with you, you are blessed among women!” 29 But Mary was distressed and puzzled at what sort of greeting that might be. 30 So the angel said, “Don’t be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God, 31 for behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and called Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give him the throne of his father [patรฉr - father, descendant] David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob (Israel) forever, and of HiS kingdom there will be no end.” (You see why Satan wishes to annihilate all Israel?! Has been attempting and working at it for a very long time. But the culmination will backfire, Mt.13:30 as Rev.16:13-16.) 34 And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be? Since I have never been with a man?” 35 And Gabriel answered her, “The Holy Spirit/Presence will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will [epi-skiazรณ] overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, and Son of God. 36 And behold, your relative Elizabeth, in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is now the sixth month with her who was called barren. 37 For nothing is impossible with God.” (Nothing at all, is impossible to God. “Perfect” mt.5:48, brings about the most Perfect end result possible (surely!?) From the greek word “tel” which means “end-aim”. He has done and does all things as he has, and does, in order to bring about the best of all possibilities. Being not so much what he hAs created -  “kosmos” - but what he iS creating, Rev.21:1-5, Is.11:7;45:23.) 38 And Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaiden of the Lord, let all be as you have said. And Gabriel departed from her.

15 - And with this confidence, I was planning to visit so we may have a second blessing of grace. 16 I wanted to visit you on my way to Macedonia, then come back to you from Macedonia, and have you send me on my way to Judea. 17 Did I purpose this lightly, ready to say “yea and nay” at the same time? 18 God is faithful however, and our word has not been yea and nay. 19 For as - there is this — the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, Silas, Timothy and I, was not yea and nay/maybe! But in him it is always “yes!” 20 For all (Is.45:23) the promises of God find their “yes” in him. That is why it is through him, we utter our “amen” to God. (Why we agree with God, and so “receive”.) 21 The one establishing us, with you - in Jesus - and anointing us, is God. 22 And he has put his seal upon our heart (sealed it up) and given us his Spirit as a pledge and guarantee [arrabรณn - pledge, down payment in advance as security and guarantee]. 23 But as God is my witness, it was to spare you, that I changed my plans and delayed from coming again to Corinth. (The group was having many questions and troubles.) 24 Not that we lord it over you, but we are working together with you, for your joy, and for “the” faith, in which you stand.

Dec-17 From Lk-1 2Cor-1

 a paraphrased scripture study

          - - - - - - - - - - - -

  GospeL Verses ~ Luke 1:1-25

Luke is a Greek doctor who met Paul during his second “missionary journey” and joined him in some of his travels. He also wrote the Book of Acts (about the acts of the first believers). I only wrote this reading schedule for myself to read by each year, today’s is a little bit long but not terribly. This intro and dating is awesome.

1 - Since a number have undertaken to compile a narrative of the things that occurred among us, 2 as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and told us, 3 it seemed good to me (Luke) - having followed all things closely for some time now - to also write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus (a public figure?) 4 that you may have certainty concerning the things you’ve been told.

5 In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. And he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, whose name was Elizabeth. (The tribe of Aaron was the priestly line.) 6 And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in the commandments and statutes of the Lord. 7 But Elizabeth was barren. and they had no child. And now they both elderly in years. 8 While he was serving as priest for God, his division being on duty 9 according to the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple and burn the incense. 10 And this (feast?) day, while all the people were praying outside at the hour of incense and prayer (Acts 3:1, Rev.8:3-5, one of the seven thunders?) 11 there appeared an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. 12 And Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear came upon him. 13 But the angel said, “Don’t be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear a son, and you will call his name John. 14 You will have joy and gladness. Many will rejoice at his birth, 15 for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine nor strong drink, for he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb. 16 He will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God, 17 and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.” (Purpose Israel was separated by “the laws of God”.] 18 Zechariah said to the angel, “How will I know this? For I’m an old man, and my wife is advanced in years also.” 19 And the angel said to him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news. 20 And behold, you will be silent and unable to speak until the day these things take place, because you didn’t believe my words, which will be fulfilled in due time.” (No doubt talk?) 21 And the people were waiting for Zechariah, and wondering at his delay in the temple. 22 And then when he came out, he wasn’t able to speak to them, and they realized that he had seen a vision. He made signs to them and remained mute. 23 And when his time of service was ended, he went back home. 24 And after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived, and for five months she kept herself secluded, saying, 25 “Thus the Lord has done for me in the days when he looked upon me, to take away my reproach among the people.” (Cultural sentiment.)

                   ~ 2 Corinthians 1:8-14 ~

8 - We do not want you to be unaware, brothers (and sisters) of the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so very burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. 9 Indeed, we felt that we surely had received the sentence of death. But it made us rely, not on ourselves, but upon God who raises the dead. 10 And he did deliver us from our deadly peril. And we have set our hope on him that he will deliver us again. 11 You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks for the blessing granted us through the prayers on our behalf. 12 For this is our boasting, the proof that we behaved in the world with simplicity, and with godly sincerity. Not in human, high sounding earthly wisdom. But in the rich grace of God, abundantly toward you. 13 For we are not writing to you anything other than what is easily comprehended - which I hope you will fully understand - 14 just as you have partly understood previously. So that in the day of our Lord Jesus, we will have full joy of one another.

Dec-16 From Mt1 Jn1 2Cor1

    a paraphrased scripture study

          - - - - - - - - - - - -

GospeL Verses ~ Matthew 1:1-17 and John 1:1-5

1 - The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham (briefly summarized, lol) 2 Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers.. ..5 and.. Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse, 6 and Jesse the father of David the king. And David was the father of Solomon by the wife of Uriah (yes David had to repent, not only was the story with Bathsheba, but he sent Uriah to the front line in battle!!) 7 and Solomon the father of Rehoboam, ..8 and Asaph the father of Jehoshaphat (does anyone ever say ‘holy Jehoshaphat!’ any more?) …12 And after the deportation to Babylon ..13 and Zerubbabel the father of.. 16 and Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ.

17 So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations.

John 1:1 - In the beginning [archรฉ – properly, from the beginning (temporal sense), the initial starting point, what comes first and therefore is chief/foremost, i.e. has the priority because ahead of the rest and preeminent, the first, beginning] was the Word, the Word was with God, and was God. (Jesus is the onLy straight out from God one, forever preeminent, Lord of Lords and King of kings.] 2 He was in the beginning with [and, or “toward” / prรณs - “interfaces with”] God. 3 All [aha! another place where the translators added “things” to the greek word “pas” - “all”] were made through [dia - through, on account of, by the instrumentality of, because of] him. And without him not one [heis - one — the translators added “things” here too, to “one”] (not one) came into being [ginomai]. 4 In him was Life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

2 Grace to you and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus. 3 Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord, the Father of mercies, and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we may be able to comfort others, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort also. 6 If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings and persecutions which we suffer. 7 Our hope for you is unshaken. For we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort!

  GospeL Verses ~ Luke 24:49-53 & Mark 16:19-20

49 - “Behold” Jesus said (to his eleven disciples) “I am sending the promise (the Spirit/Presence) of my Father upon you. But wait in the city until you are clothed with the power from on high.” 50 And he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting his hands he blessed them. 51 And while he was blessing them, he was carried up into heaven. 52 They worshiped him with great joy and returned to Jerusalem. 53 And they were daily in the temple blessing God.

     Mark 16:19-20

19 - Then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And going out they preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and proving the message by accompanying signs.

15 You know the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia (most of Greece, while a province of Rome) and that they have devoted themselves to the service of the brothers (as they traveled?) — 16 so I urge you to be subject to such as these, and to all our fellow workers and laborers. 17 I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have made up for our separation. 18 They refreshed my spirit as well as yours. We must always give recognition to all as these.

19 The churches of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Priscilla, with the church that’s in their house, send you hearty greetings in the Lord. 20 All the brothers send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss. 21 I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. 22 If anyone (secretly among you) has no love for the Lord, let them be accursed. Come Lord Jesus! 23 The grace of the Lord be with you. 24 My love to you all in Christ Jesus, amen.

GospeL Verses ~ Matthew 28:16-20

Matthew was an original disciple, he was sitting collecting taxes - for hated Rome! - when Jesus said, “Come and follow me”. And Matthew got up and did so. This is the end of his gospel account. 16 - Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 And when they saw him they were in awe, yet some still doubted. 18 And Jesus came closer and said, “All authority in heaven and upon earth has been given to me. 19 Therefor go and disciple all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to keep [tรฉreรณ - keep, guard, observe, watch over, keep intact] all that I have instructed [entellomai] you.      ~ 1 Corinthians 16:8-14 ~

8 - I (Paul) plan to stay in Ephesus until Pentecost, 9 for a wide door has opened for effective work and there are many adversaries to it. 10 When Timothy comes, see that he is accepted and at ease among you, for he is doing the work of the Lord, as am I. 11 And help him on his way, and in peace, that he may return to me, I’m expecting him with the brothers.

12 Concerning our brother Apollos, I strongly urged him to visit you with the brothers, but it was not at all his will to come right now. He will come when he’s able to. 13 In conclusion, be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men (aka, be brave) and be strong. 14 And let all you do, be done in love.

  GospeL Verses ~ John 21:16-25

16 - Jesus said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Simon Peter answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Tend to [poimainรณ - act as a shepherd, caring for  and protecting the flock] my sheep.” 17 And he said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was troubled because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” so he said, “Lord, you know everything! You know that I love you!” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. 18 Truly, I tell you, when you were young, you were used to dressing yourself and walking where you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch forth your hands, and another will dress you, and take you where you do not want to go.” 19 (This he said to show by what kind of death Peter would suffer in his testifying of God.) And after saying this, he said, “Follow me.” 20 Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved (this is how John refers to himself in his gospel account) following them, the one who also had leaned back against him during the supper and had said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?” 21 When Peter saw him, he said, “Lord, what about him?” 22 Jesus said, “If it’s my will he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!” 23 So the saying spread among the believers that this disciple was not going to die. Yet Jesus didn’t say that he wasn’t going to die, but only, “If, it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?”

24 This is the disciple who is testifying about these things, and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true.

25 But there are also many other things Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the number of books that would be written.

        (In the Order Believed Written)

     ~ 1 Corinthians 16:1-7 ~

1 - Now concerning the collection for the saints/the called (collection for the impoverished ‘church’ of believers at Jerusalem) - as I said to the churches of Galatia, 2 on the first day of every week, each of you should contribute as he may prosper, and put it aside, so there need be no collecting when I’m there. 3 And when I arrive, we will send those whom you choose and name by letter, to carry your gift to Jerusalem. 4 If it seems advisable that I should go also, they can accompany me. 5 I’ll visit you after I go through Macedonia, for I intend to pass through there, 6 and perhaps I will stay a while or even spend the winter, so that you may see me on my journey, wherever I go. 7 And I don’t want to see you now just in passing, but hope to spend some time with you. If the Lord permits.

WeekLy BooK oF Acts 18 1-16

   a paraphrased study

1 - After this Paul left Athens and went on to Corinth, 2 where he met a Jew (Hebrew) named Aquila, from Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had demanded all Jews leave Rome. He went to visit them, 3 and ended up staying and working with them, for they were tentmakers like him. 4 And in the synagogue every Sabbath, he tried to persuade both Jews and Greeks. 5 So when Silas and Timothy arrived from Macedonia, Paul was busy with the word, testifying to the Hebrews that Jesus was the messiah. 6 But then when they angrily resisted, and insulted him, he shook out his garments and said, “Your lives be upon your own heads! I am innocent. From now on I’m going to the Gentiles.” 7 And he left there and went to the house of a man named Titius Justus, a worshiper of God, who lived next door to the synagogue. 8 Crispus, head of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, along with all his household. And many of the Corinthians listening to Paul believed and were baptized. 9 And the Lord said to Paul at night in a vision, “Don’t fear. But go on speaking, and don’t be silent, 10 for I am with you. And no one will attack or harm you, for I have many in this city who are my own.” 11 And he stayed a year and a half, teaching the message of God among them.

12 But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the leading Jews made a unified attack upon him and brought him before the tribunal, 13 saying, “This man is persuading people to worship God contrary to what the law says.” 14 But when Paul was about to speak in his defense, Gallio said to the Jews, “If it were a matter of wrongdoing or of a vicious crime I would have reason to listen to your complaint. 15 But since it’s a matter of disputing about words, names and your own law, see to it yourselves. I refuse to be a judge of such matters.” 16 And he drove them away from the court.
