8 - Jesus answered, saying, “See that you’re not led astray. There’ll be many who come in my name saying I’m he, and that the time is at hand. Don’t follow them.” {Truth mixed with error makes for danger? Spiritual or otherwise?} 9 “And when you hear of wars, and tumults, don’t be afraid, for these things must happen, but the end will not be at once.” 10 Then he said, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.” {This part of the prediction cannot be said to have been fulfilled by the ruin of Jerusalem in 70 CE.} 11 In various places there will be great earthquakes, famines, and pestilences. There will be terror [phobétron - fear, terror, fright] and from heaven, great signs.
12 But before then, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you up to law and prisons, and you’ll be brought before kings and governors for my name's sake. 13 This will be your opportunity to bear witness. 14 Settle it in your minds not to meditate beforehand what to answer, 15 for I’ll give you words and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to oppose nor answer.”
